When I taught myself watercolor I found that playing around with the paint and paper taught me more than anything. It’s so cool to discover how watercolor moves! I used art to quiet my mind. I love that you are sharing the healing nature of art as well!
Thank you. I am trying to take the plunge. I believe these watercolor exercises will get me started. I just subscribed. BTW,I live in Central Florida. Henene and Milton were scary. Sorry you went through that.
I have the watercolor workbook and the second one in my cart on Amazon and had seen the painting calm but hadn’t heard of most of the books you shared. Thank you!
I love Claudia Nice. I have her pen and ink books. Glad to see she is now adding watercolor. Until recently, pen and ink was my main medium. To do watercolor, I REALLY needed the pen and ink connection to make a proper transition. I will really try to find the book you mentioned. Thank you.
This is so inspiring. I have several of these books, including Claudia Nice’s…and your idea to actually work through the introductory exercises and to put in valuable brush miles instead of UA-cam scrolling and merely watching someone (while not lifting a brush myself ) is great. After all, we could let some of those videos play in the background! Wishing you all the best as life slowly returns to ‘normal ’ for you. Blessed Christmas!
Thanks for this overview. I've been thinking about using one of these watercolor workbooks and this provides more information on where I might start. Blessings!

@@pw1669 I think the first one Discovering Watercolor. Also, look for the UA-cam channel called The Frugal Crafter, Lindsay has many many beginner water color videos- all free. Check out her play lists. So much information!!!!!!
@kimberlyearly8918 I didn't think my explanation was extensive enough so I created a video!

This is a very timely message for me. Thank you
What kind of sketchbook to you use?
Which book would be the best to start with if you're new to watercolors, a completely beginner?
