I nearly died when my car got hit by a truck and as i walked to the ambulance i thought I'm getting a guitar out of this
I took the bar exam and was convinced I'd failed and thought, this is the last $200 I'll ever have, I'm getting a guitar (did quite well actually on the exam). Guitar turned out to be a 1920 Oahu, thank you pawn shop!
Andy always manages to get the best interviews with people while still going completely off the rails. He's basically the Conan O'Brien of the guitar world.

I'm glad there's a big name guitar brand out there which employs Indian luthiere and openly talks about it. The company Chapman is referring to is most likely HMI, or Harmony Musical Instruments in Chennai, India. Trev Wilkinson sold T-style vintage spec kit guitars made there and they previously did work for Fender & Jackson. It's a pity that Indians can't buy guitars from HMI. They're export only and extremely media shy. The last time they sold Indian guitars to Indians was in the early 2000s, under their in-house Tansen brand. By the time I'd saved up enough money for one, they were gone from the market!
Yeah, the interview was nice and all but that PLAYING before and after! Sheesh! Just incredible! I could have listened to both of them going off on "Isn't She Lovely" for far longer.
I’ve never played a Chapman but man that Guardian looks gorgeous. If it plays half as good as it looks I think I might want one (depending on price of course). Glad Mr Chapman is alive and well too btw before I’m accused of being heartless haha.
I have an ML1 Modern in dark red blood finish, its a great guitar, nothing else quite like it, black hardware, maple top, love it
The only guitar I ever regretted buying was the Chapman ML-1 Pro, a few years back. A pity, but sh*t happens.

You also can't go wrong with anything Trev Wilkinson had his hands in, so we might expect a lot of great Made in India guitars in the future. Didn't know about that factory so far.
The problem with Chapman guitars are the same as Godin must be the name there resell value are 50%.
Problem is you have to get big names to play them, otherwise fans of those players are less likely to buy into the brand, and most pros are going to go for brands that are established. I have a Godin, and it's a great guitar, but can't comment on Chapman.
i have had a few close calls at 18 i was in a car accident i lost over half my blood on the scene and had major damage to all my major organs, i was helicoptered to the best icu trauma hospital hear in az i ha 5 specialist working on me at once, then at age 28 or so i suffered a major major heroin and klonopin overdose i have overdosed at least 7 times but that one almost got me i was supposed to be gone but the emergency dude kept working on me finally i came back. i struggled with shooting up heroin and cocaine for over a decade lost over 100k in guitars and amps probably more, its been 13 years since i was doing dope and life is great. for all you guys out there struggling life gets normal with out dope and then it can get even better. now Marijuana aka weed is my anti drug haha

I think the Ghost fret with P90s is got great gear on it do you have a video of it with high gain playing really not interested in clean or jazz tones I can get that with the cheapest fender there is

Do people still actually buy Chapman guitars? I’m really surprised that the company still exists.
I really don't like upside down headstocks. One reason I don't own a Solar guitar.
Tried a few Chapman guitars at Andertons and most were awful. The only one that I thought was nice to play was the Rabea telecaster
First time I've ever heard this, I've never played a Chapman that wasn't nearly perfect. I bought my first Chapman as a blind risk because you can't find them in stores in America but it was $650 I am very glad I dropped. I bought one of his tele style models and it was better than any Mexican made tele I've ever played.
I got a ML1-Pro when it came out, and had it with the luthier 2 times to "righten" it. It was wired wrong. The nut had to be worked on (no way was it staying in tune). Compared to other guitars in the same price segment (my Charvels for example), this guitar was a class worse in overall quality. But it has Seymour Duncans, and sound great. So, good enough for studio recordings, but I would never go on stage with it.

@@TheGuitarGeek Prefacing this with a disclaimer because it's really hard to get inflection from text online (one of the reasons I think so many people end up arguing), and I'm someone who loves your channel, but I'm curious what your take is on that Chapman drama if you're speaking out against it. Because you say not to repeat inaccurate things you read online, but the whole business with his fans raging and doxxing and his dealings with Riff City Guitars seem pretty well documented and definitely don't paint him in a favorable light. There's other stuff that's way less substantiated, so I take that with a grain of salt or two, but neither of those things mentioned above are great impressions...
Not being a smartass or anything - I'm always open to being wrong and learning something - just genuinely curious if you have some info or insight that we don't, cause as someone who followed Chapman from the bedroom days when everything was done via poll as a tiny company, I'd love to have something that shows he's less like the perception leads us to believe.
