One of the best friends I have ever had in the world, one day, invited me to his home in the south of the United States and showed me this series. At every scene, I couldn't help but shed a tear. Maybe this sounds silly, but here, in Argentina, we have a lighter version of the story. And to see all that America has done for the West, simply makes me feel grateful. From the bottom of my heart, I hope you always know that you will find a friend every time you look south. THANKS AMERICA!
I remember seeing a slideshow that one of the kids made in Highschool with this music. It was about a young man fresh out of high school, who met a beautiful young woman and started dating. He enlists in the military, and they end up getting married and having a baby boy. He ends up getting shipped off a couple of years after the child was born, and seems to be having a great time learning about a new environment, but misses his wife and child. He ends up engaging with enemy forces and is shot and killed in battle. The slideshow cut to the wife holding an American flag, in tears, and then shows her holding their, two year old, son by his father’s grave, and the wife is sad, because her child will not remember his dad, or grow up with one. The big moment was when the slideshow ended, and everyone expected it was about a soldier’s life, but everyone was a little shocked when that student, was the little boy in the slide. That his father enlisted to protect his family’s freedom, and that there was nothing more meaningful to him than making his family proud, and died in battle. That whole slide had this playing over it.
Brilliant piece of music….. the opening cinema is extraordinary. It gets me every time. Our guys suffered a lot in the Pacific…..Marines and US Army infantry. I hope our beloved US Navy gets a similar series. They suffered greatly. 🇺🇸
Analysis... Overall, the music evokes the sadness of Honor, the battlefield of Glory, paid for with the blood of boys. Horrible, yet sometimes unavoidable, and calling upon us to respect and remembrance. If listened at higher volume or headset, there is tympani (base drum) that evokes distant explosions. The occasional red stain evokes both blood and the Japanese Rising Sun flag . The charcoal is used as a drawing implement, but when fractured, evokes both shrapnel and emotion....the intense emotion of the Artist, because the Artist is remembering. He was there. This is his story.
