oh my gosh that like made me hold my breath. That happened once to my half blind sheet Tzu I don’t know how he fell in the pool and I don’t know how I knew because it was at the other end of the yard, but I had to jump in and save her. I think we would all do anything to save our babies.❤

Draining the pool during winter is a good idea, too.
Only if the pool cover is solid and can be walked on. If it’s a tarp it will make everything significantly worse by wrapping itself around whoever fell in. Not only are they disoriented by falling into water, they’re also wrapped in a tarp; which makes it more difficult to swim.
Thank goodness she was there to save him. Get a pool cover or fence to prevent accidents like this again

Yes. My little Shizu went into the neighbor's uncovered pool 10 years ago and would have drown if the neighbors didn't find him in time.
Our neighbors way in the back of our property (where our dogs used to escape to go play with their dogs 😢) HAD a large above-ground pool a few yrs ago. Both of their dogs were chasing something & they both jumped after it when it went under the pool cover. Sadly they got all tangled up under the pool cover & drowned while they were at work. They looked for them for days. I can't imagine how awful that was to discover. I still feel so bad for them. They got rid of the pool...couldn't look at it. I'd do the same I think. Ours is inground thankfully, no way for an animal to get under the cover.
