    Don't worry about the shakiness. You're living in a unorthodox house creating your own energy out material growing on your land. The last thing I would think of is a shaky camera.

    The shake isn't that bad Kris and until you mentioned it i hadn't really noticed, this is your first winter isn't it? If you do need to get out in your car and you can't get traction, not everyone knows to just let the air out of your tyres until they are nearly flat then that gives them a larger footprint and increases traction but be careful not to let too much out and or you will drive with the rims on the ground which could damage them and even pop a tyre off if your too aggressive when driving with low tyre pressure, when you get unstuck pump them back up, you have got a beautiful place there

    Kris, grab yourself an older 4x4 Pickup. A decent Nissan Navara with a good Chassis for £4-5k . It'll make your life easier picking up equipment and stuff. I got one 3rd hand, 95k miles, tow bar, truck bed moulded lining, king cab for £4500. If you've moved permanently from London, then definitely grab one. Also a you need a little tractor for that acreage and mass tree planting. Everything in West Wales is 20miles away, i spend ages going back and forth across pembrokeshire picking up this, borrowing that, from friendly neighbours.

    Before you get a stabilizer, which is probably the right thing to do; you could do a video making some DIY designs. The simplest one is to put the camera on a stick, with a weight on the other end, then usually you can just hold the stick but some joints would improve it further.

    • @Rick_Sanchez_C137_
      @Rick_Sanchez_C137_ 7 років тому +1

      If you don’t like sitting in the rain, build a simple overhang 2 or 3 meters behind where you normally want to sit with the bench. Leave the bench under the overhang so it doesn’t get wet when it rains, pull it forward on days you want to sit in the sun. That way it is always a place to sit comfortably rain or shine.....of course I would set up the overhang so it could support my hammock as well and some days lay in the hammock for a nap by the pond......just another idea.......
      Nice video, better than my shaky vids. Go on UA-cam and search “stabilize shaky video.” Several other vloggers explain how to use various software to stabilize the video, some of those softwares you may already have on your computer.
      I haven’t seen your recent vids, watched all you had up to the point I was watching and didn’t subscribe (sorry), place looks great.
      Happy new year.

    • @eldsprutandedrake
      @eldsprutandedrake 7 років тому +4

      I don't get how that's relevant to this, it´s too completely different situations. What is essentially a mud/gravel road that no one clears the snow of in a place that hardly gets any snows is of course hard to drive on with a vehicle not built for the job, I don't even know if winter tires is a requirement there?
      What you just wrote is only slightly less stupid than the other, related but dumber, comment along the lines of "You think that's cold, where I live that is (insert random piece of clothing or outside activity) weather" :P

    • @KrisHarbour
      @KrisHarbour  7 років тому +5

      You don’t have to. You can fund it yourself but wales has a declining forested area so there is a grant where they pay you to plant on your land. So I am talking advantage of that. I get the trees for free. A small payment to manage them each year and future firewood. So it’s a good deal for me.

    • @mwnciboo
      @mwnciboo 6 років тому

      Its nudge theory...E.g you offer incentives to improve things. Buy an electric car get a tax break, buy solar panels have a feed in tariff tax break, let some of your land go fallow or act as natural flood mitigation the Government will give you payouts. The consequences of Over-farming in the UK are expotential because we are tiny. States like Idaho or Oklahoma would be like huh? We have tons of space.

    Snowing hard there... haha! I love it when the UK gets snow. Just a skiff of white and they get so excited. You should check out My Self Reliance’s channel and see the METER plus of snow they have had in Canada in 2018-19 winter. Besides my laughing at that, love your channel and content, Chris! Keep the videos rolling!
