The fact that this makes sense, and that the Ice King has no memory of his past makes it sadder.
My mother is going through severe memory loss and personality changes right now. The three main causes are her early onset Alzheimer's disease, menopause/hormone issues, and the effects of extended antidepressant, opiate, and benzodiazepine usage. I consider those three things to be the three red gems that power my mother's "crown," which represents the overall personality change/memory loss that she's going through. She used to be a whole lot like Simon and Marceline's mom too. I also relate to marceline for many, many other reasons. Their whole story arc rips me up inside so badly. I almost never cry, but I did while listening to Olivia sing this song.
Sometimes I feel like my mother died years ago, and this different, scary (but somewhat similar) person is walking around with her name and face. It's kind of like I'm mourning her being gone forever, while still doing my best to stand by her side and love and care for what's left of her, because she would do the same for me, and I love her unconditionally. It just hurts when she treats me like garbage, because she doesn'tyü know better anymore...
My grandmother (who is like a second mother to me) is also going through major memory loss issues. However, her caring, loving, sweet personality is still unwavering. I'm grateful for that everyday. I don't know what I will do when they both start talking to and treatng me the way my neither already does.
Sorry for the giant, personal rant here. I just really felt like throwing my take on the situation out there, I guess... IDK 😟 💔

I love adventure time, I'm eighteen. I was like 15 when I first saw it and when I saw marciline I was like "I hope when I'm seventeen somehow I meet her and she turns me to a vampire and we can hangout for ever" but that didn't happen and for some reason I thought it was so now I'm lost.

Mr. VampireFang I'm 18 too and started watching adventure time when I was 16. I'm learning guitar right now to play all songs from marceline because I can relate to the lyrics even if she comes up with something like the fries song it has so much deeper meaning and you can hear that in many songtexts from adventure time there so many metaphors who wait to be interpreted by individual perspectives. // Great to see that some of my generation rather watching AT than hanging out with fckboys //

I watched Adventure Time until the fifth grade. I love the show a million times more now.
If your in love with Vampires you should watch The Vampire Diaries , The Originals and Shadowhunters in that order TO is a spin-off of TVD but TVD is the characters of TO’s first appearances honestly you will fall in love so fast !

The lyrics Rebecca Sugar wrote are so much darker and provide a lot of much-needed context (the episode really could've used it tbh, even though it might've spoiled some character development, it would've made the episode and their relationship a lot deeper), I'm really disappointed they weren't in the show.

Thanks for posting this, always interesting to see a little behind the curtain! I can see why they left the original lyrics out, would have been too dark for the kiddies.. but I agree it would have added to the Hunson/Marcy backstory

They wanted to end on a high note. Most people don't get that respect or opportunity. Most shows end up going out quickly and unexpectedly and it is usually a horrible experience not properly tying together all of the loose ends and the concluded story is thrown together in a half-assed effort.
