7:33, "Oh god, shes on about that again..." Someone in character as an arse there
"Kermit?? If that take THAT seriously, how am I supposed to make them laugh?!" HAHAHAHA, can't wait for the actual material!
I've been reading about this experience in Dara's book. It's amazing.
I burst out laughing when he said "Does anyone else have a goal or something they want to achieve?" while IC.
I remember watching this on a Britannia flight, back in the day
Thank you for sharing
I do this stuff. We don't take ourselves seriously, tis great!
Believe me, it has been done. Scorpion and Raiden once turned up.
Dara is so great.
Dara: hello whats your name
me: im diablo and run around shouting death at people mwehahahahahahaha
"I'm Gary.. just up the road!" xD
he makes a big deal of the"35 page rulebook!", should try getting into a bloody table top session man!
the only thing as short as that in Ad&D was the product catalogue! :D
ordinary people who think lord of the rings was a documentary
haha that was extremely funny to me as well, partly because she seemed quite awkward when she was saying it! :D
"'using the aspects of their old gods, Kermit'...Ker-mit? Jesus wept..." lol
Круто, мне понравилось!
that looks relly fun. hehe.
One the guys at the start wearin Motorhead shirts! xD
Niiiiii it’s a tough giiiiiiiig
oh, thank you :)
"good" is subjective.
Thanks
then you get rule 7.5: "unless it's funny"
7:40ish...that quick look from Dara to the camera, you know what he's thinking...
"What the fuck am I doing here?"
"Could be more slightly challenging than I think" Yeah, nice one producer.
I must point out that that is by no means the world's only MDF castle. I do Ren Faires here in the US, and it's all feckin' MDF. Although, generally slightly more convincing than that one, at least at the big Faires. (Yep, I'm a nerd.)
"Rule 7, is don't take the piss" it's a British slang expression meaning to mock, tease, ridicule or scoff. Example: "I hit him on the head with this rubber carrot, according to the rulebook, he should take the hit and should be role-playing dying" "No, you are clearly taking the piss."
Its weird how there are events where thousands of people go out at night and cram into huge theatres so that they can be made to laugh for a while.
Dara has never looked more like Dobby.. He should do the ears mor often :D
Is it me, or does he look like a bit of a fantasy creature to start with? ;)
Ssshhhhhh, it's Halfling's Leaf. ;)
LOL
"whats your name"
"MUH NAMES SRIKE"
"uhh..out of character for a sec ok? so what is your name"
"..muh names gary >.>"
it's just a hobby, it's not a lifestyle
@katyc130890 It's called tickling the English. It's his notes from touring basically with some extra thoughts. It's an awesome read and you can look back through his gigs to see the proof too :D
At our LARP (Melbourne based) they basically give massages, although of course you lay it on a bit more in character.
ok, I do larp and i live in canterbury - how the hell did i never hear about this?
THis should be interesting, i love Stand-up, and although i dont LARP, im sur ei'll understand the fantasy jokes as an ex-warcrafter
@JJGMTS A lot of LARPers are pretty good actors.
does anyone know where i can find any other episodes for this show tough gig?
@JJGMTS Most English LARP including this one is taken place in a scoutcamp, the reason for this is so that it is out of the public eye. By having it private it is easier to immerse yourself and letting go of inhibitions, and the fact that everybody else are joining in also helps. Personally I find LARP a bit like swimming in a cold lake, you feel shy at first but once you leap in, any fears you got goes away, and you can't feel the cold any more - In fact it is a heck of alot of fun. :)
@Ricaxa I didn't know he had a book. What's it called? I bet it's awesome.
The conversations are weird as hell, but the rest looks fun!
reminds me i have to get ready for my LARPs this summer
@TheLordEspada There's a fair amount of Irish LARPers if you know where to look. We generally fly or drive over so it's more expensive than it would be for the mainlanders.
It's almost amazing how the more serious people get about LARPING and fantasy, the less fun you have...
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL Many moon has risen.. >_>
They are a bit serious, i would be very scared indeed :S
Kermit XD
Why is he reading Forgotton Realms when he's going LARPing?
I hate LRP events where people shout 'Blunt!' or 'Sharp!' when they attack you, as if you can't see that they're hitting you with a sword or a huge club.
Sorry, Only female??? Sarah is not the only female there, its actually about 50/50 male/female at these events. What about me at 5:43? Theres actually a surprising amount of 'hot chicks' at these events, so dont knock it until youve tried it!
the Wolves were always fans of 7.5
lol I like the chick larping while smoking.
i know that campsite - it's called boiderhurst - it's near where i live
never knew they di dthis sort of stuff on it
where is it then?
AHAHA epic
the guy on 5.54 is trying to be a transformer
It's odd that you come to that conclusion.
LARP rules
i dont larp but i do game like that called dagorhir and i have lot of fun and ragnarok XXII
Mainland!?
You colonised elf.
In Russian LARP "sexual relations" are modeled this way: woman feed man with сondensed milk on a spoon. It is tasty, sweet...
Once, on one LARP game, i was sitting in tavern and heard rumors, that on roads of this realm 2 monsters are wandering: banshee and ghoul. And when they meet travelers and heroes Banshee starts screaming - that makes player to freez for 30seconds - and then ghoul come close to poor traveler, and then pulls out a cup of сondensed milk and starts feeding player... HORROR!
7:39 you can feel his fear
Can someone tell me what the lady said about rule 7? I couldn't understand her British accent.
lolol
My favourite story of rule 7 breaking was when a mate of mine and his girlfriend had these really annoying couple of guys runing the event, being far too seroius with everything. So, my mate and a few of his friends were playing ratmen - like WH fantasy Skaven - and they started speaking with really squeaky voices. That didn't go down well. They were threatened with expulsion. So, just to top it off, on the next charge, they did it shouting "cheese for the cheese god!!!"
They forgot rule 7a) Unless its funny!
Our system is just so funny sometimes. You can come close to rule 7 as long as you don't go to far
what's rule 7 again? the didn't say it too good in the vid.
@Carcharoth0
Mainland!?
You colonised elf.
This is relaly wierd. hahaha
and not a golem?
Pause at 7:39.
@MidnighWolf Beleave it or not frankies into this thing if you read his autobiography he reads fantasy novels and comics and plays text based RPG's
my name in reality is morgan...i never thought dara would say my name :3...where is this larp taken place?
@Natala00 Don't forget rule 7b
"unless it's funny"
you look very good mouse, but he does look like he is made of lego ;)
Kermit :D
Does he say "Didier Drogba" at 1:59?
haha imagen frankie boyle ther lol
if they dress like that they must have a sense of humour
Would it not be great to turn up to one of these things in a completely unrelated costume? Their trying to have there fantasy role playing fun with a load of roundheads, red shirts, some Naruto characters and Darth Vader there.
@ 2: 25 to 2: 35 she does that annoying jumpy shoulder thing
why is that a problem?
it's just fun.
i had a go at this 18 years ago,i didnt dress up though its too kinky.
Its called a fae, hes meant to be faceted with metal and rock, DERP!
You mean yourself? It's a hobby. Deal with it.
No it's not. What you mean is a club.
Good thing he didn't bring Frankie along...
How is it creepy?
Kinda, but you release a different fluid.
@godie666 thats a load of crap. just to let you know :)
Without wishing to conform to the critique, don't they all look exactly as you expected?
I think to be a larper you have to have at least +20 don't give a fuck.....
Not sure I understand these people.
if larping floats your boat fine but rule 7?
even if you love it how can you not on occasion take the piss? you are dressing up and playing at swords and sorcery with a fair few people who do take it seriously? it is inherently ridiculous surely you must be able to laugh at it and have a bit of fun?
pretty lame but fair enough
I am a LARPer. I'm also a computer scientist and yes, I do have a career and professional responsibilities. LARP for me is a way to "break out" every once in a while.
And yes, the first couple of times you WILL feel like an utter weirdo. While on a game, everyone is in character and in costume, so you'll be ok then. But you need to get used to it when someone stumbles into the game (we call them "tourists") or you are on your way to the game itself. But that's part of the fun.
