There are a few blurry minutes when I am showing some sketches sorry! Trust me though, the blur actually makes them look better 😂 I'm still learning how to camera.
Wow, really loved seeing the whole process or making this story come alive. Thank you for sharing it with us! Love your artwork and your sense of humour too, you cracked me up.
Okay, I've watched this video four times already, so I guess I'll have to comment for engagement. 😅 Loved the video! I'm not usually big on studio vlogs, but seeing how a longer project unfolds is definitely my jam. The process and refining ideas is so interesting. And very inspiring! Wonderful end result. ❤️ The fact that you used one of my favourite palettes (dark blue, mustard/ochre/gold, pink and orange) didn't hurt. 😅 (also, loved the way you talked to yourself throughout the process. 😂)
Wow four times! I’m glad you enjoyed it 🥰 I really enjoyed this colour palette too, I don’t normally use metalics but the gold went so well with everything I may be converted!
I love your style, your sketches, and seeing your process. How you create thumbnails and layer mediums is very cool! Also inspired by how you dive right in! Thanks for sharing!
51:40 April, you are so cute and funny. I can totally relate. I love how you keep it real on your channel. It gives me such encouragement when things go wrong... and go wrong again and again. 😊😊😊❤❤❤
I appreciate so much the way you took us through the journey, your thought process and your actual mixed media painting process. I think you're so, so awesome. (Also "The owl is coming forth from the loins of the tattoo" might be my favourite thing you've ever said.)
i'm late to the party, but watching this long video was so interesting ! I love to learn about your thought process, how you pick one thing over another, i really enjoyed it, so thank you for sharing ! can't wait for the next video
Ahhh it was so fun! I really missed folktale week this year but it was so busy! I made a little story from the prompts though so maybe I will do it late
You are such a pleasant person to watch and listen to… somehow you have a calming effect on me and I enjoy watching your face and your expressions. Hope you don’t mind me saying it so bluntly.
You are amazing, April! Big things are definitely coming in your future. It's so exciting to follow along with you on this journey. Thank you for sharing with us.
Your videos bring me joy because you show us how to bring the imagination to life. I wish I could give you 100 likes! I am so inspired by you! Thank you!
Ohhh my goodness!! I'm in love with your sweet lovely story!! I was AMAZED to watch ALLLLL the thought and preparation you put into this!! It was so helpful to see your process, sort your supplies and colors, and watch you do your WONDERFUL artwork!! Such incredible talent and creativity!!
Kudos to you April for not giving up! I always think it is important to stick with something you‘ve set out to do, no matter how long it takes. The story and illustrations and choice of color palette are a big success! Love the end result!❤
@@monkeymintaka i see your IG story today, you hv a walk in nature, drawing some ducks and hv a great time with sedem illustrate ☺️ have a great week ahead April
thank you for sharing your process, very interesting. I love your story and the illustrations. I dont participate in Folktale week, but enjoy following along!
I really enjoyed watching your process. It gave me some ideas on how to approach my sketches and illustrations. I did participate in folktale week but I haven't put up my video yet. Thank you for sharing! 😊💕
Love, love, love what you created! You are so funny - I really appreciate your humor too. Thanks for sharing your journey - I appreciate seeing your triumphs as well as your struggles!
Awh i love it!!!!! I can so see you making the images into a short animation. Like the swirly bits and him struggling to het free. The color choices 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤ lovit !! We want the animation we want the animation!!!
Thanks Amo! I think it will be such a big project to do as an animation! But I already started it yesterday 🙈 I haven’t really done hand drawn animation before except for very small things so it may be a while but I would like to try to do the whole story :)
Thank you so much for this process video. I absolutely love your colour choices for these our pictures, so muted and dreamy and perfect for the story. I didn’t quite catch the name of the dark blue material, is it an ink? Thanks so much again
This was wonderful - thanks so much for sharing! I participated in Folktale Week for the first time this year & only managed to pull off 4 drawings. It was all very hastily planned & it showed, however I just wanted to put in some kind of effort after pulling back from making art while living through a very difficult time. Watching & listening to your process, especially in such a condensed format, was super helpful & inspiring for future efforts :). Sorry to be a gear-head here, but may I ask where you purchase your sketchbooks from? I love softcover sketchbooks & the square format is very appealing but difficult to find. I checked Jackson's but didn't see it in their inventory. Thank you again!
4 drawings is still an amazing job! I’m glad you enjoyed the video 🥰 These sketchbooks we’re actually really hard to find. I got one from my local art shop and then they ran out. So I searched the web and found them at a few independent shops. I bought 20 so I wouldn’t have to search for them again 😂😂😂 They are Seawhite of Brighton STA250BC (that’s the code to fine them)
@@monkeymintaka So kind of you to say ❤. Thx so much for the info! It doesn't look like they ship to North America unless the order makes economic sense (& fair enough that one sketchbook doesn't make the cut 😆). Now I'm just waiting to find out what that magic number is before I can decide if it make economic sense for me ;). Thanks again for sharing & I look forward to the next video!
This is going to sound silly but how do you know when these weeks fall? I feel like I see these things like Inktober everywhere but can never find the source to find the prompts?
I find them through other artists I follow mainly. And then hopefully people share the hosts in their description or you can normally search the hashtags to find the prompts. There are so many challenges though!
Ahhh! It was a pleasure watching you create! And I love how you utalised and thought through how to add all the mixed media elements! ✨Actually I also did my folktale week with mixed media (collage+watercolor+ink) but honestly the wighting part was the hardest... T^T also because I had to translate it🐦🌨️🌟 And I'll deffinitly participate next year

that came together beautifully! what a heart warming story

Tip,,use water brush on your pan pastel. Easier to use that way instead of the sponge. Love the inspiration.. the owl gave me a Klimt feeling..
Do you mean putting the water into the pan pastel? Or wetting it after? I don’t think I I would want to dip the brush in incase it dissolves 😬
I’m so happy that you go 3:01 outside to walk.
The only time I left the desk in those two weeks! Im lucky I didn’t get vitamin d deficiency 😅
Kudos to you April for not giving up! I always think it is important to stick with something you‘ve set out to do, no matter how long it takes. The story and illustrations and choice of color palette are a big success! Love the end result!❤
I really enjoyed the challenge, but I started it during a very busy week so it was a bit stressful. I’m glad I finished too :)
Keep posting this kind of video pleaseee i need those
I’ve been very busy recently for a project like this, but hopefully soon :)
