Our HOA won't allow ANY exposed wires or conduit. Luckily the company I selected does all their installs that way. So we are getting 31 Q Cell 405-watt panels mated to 31 IQ8A Enphase Inverters mated to an IQ 4C Combiner. We opted for the cell modem and Critter Guards. We'll do batteries next year. Hopefully, Enphase will bundle 3 5Ps and create a 15. That would be a PowerHouse. I told every company we interviewed I didn't want our home to look like some DIY project and our HOA has the same requirements. Great video.
Thanks Dale for showing us the details of the install on this very beautiful house. Very nicely done. I also like the other chatty details regarding enphase.
Dale another great video and lots of install info for us guys getting really close! Additionally, for providing all the info for the future changes going forward
Nice setup. Since I installed two Tesla Powerwalls last June, 2021, later my Enphase envoy, stopped reporting on and off, then quit. Re connected it two different times, went offline again so I temporarily gave up. Is there an easy way to stop the batteries from interfering with the envoy? I need to get it back running to monitor my micro inverters individually and to report automatically so I can sign up for SREC’s Just FYI, my envoy worked fine for 3 years prior, thanks
What no bird proofing???? Also, bi-directional charging stations to power your home are mostly for emergency purposes only and not to be used daily when the sun goes down to power the home per my Lucid Rep. in Scottsdale.
Do people have problems with the ct that measures the house consumption and is there another way around to use the tool kit to enable the Ct's that I bought from enphase. After the solar install.
Retail the parts (system controller) and communication equipment is roughly $2500. But then you are ready at any time to add IQ batteries to your system for full battery backup.
Im getting the REC 400W panels and live in south Florida. I'm being set up with the IQ7+ inverters. Is that a mistake? Should I be getting the IQ7X or IQ7A instead?
As panels get hot they produce less power. Also the 400W rating is at standard test conditions. There may be periods in winter where are your hitting the standard test conditions but it’s not going to affect your output materially. If you look at the data sheet for those panels under normal operating cell temperature(NOCT) the power output is probably going to be in line with the rated output of each IQ 7+ inverter. If you lived in very sunny colder regions I would say focus more on clipping but not in Florida.
Great video. If I was in your area I’d be calling you right now. Any recommendations on similar quality and technically proficient installers in Tampa/Sarasota area you’d recommend? I’m building a new house with groundbreaking in September and would love to be working with a good installer along side my builder to make sure it’s planned and built out right!
Great video- I especially like the fact that you include an EV charge outlet. My solar company wouldn’t even install it and I was willing to pay for it. I know what you mean by cheapest guy- I made the mistake and what a waste of my time and money! The company dint even fully finish the roof job… learnt my lesson the hard way
That is horrible. It is important to know the company you are hiring -- we are NOT all alike. 1. Make sure your solar company has their own W2 people that do the design & install. If fact, can the sales guy alter the design while you talk to him?? OR, is the design fixed, and cannot be changed?? If so, that is not a good sign. 2. How good are the Anji/Home Advisor ratings?? My company averages 5 Stars, on a 5 Star rating system. We are pretty good. You should not choose anyone who averages less than 4, IMO. 3. Does the sales rep or agent explain the key concepts --- offset, net-metering, inverters/microinverters, monitoring, the solar panel spec sheet, state & federal incentives, etc. 4. Do they push things you DON'T need?? Here in the Chicago area, COMED is very reliable. Most people have experienced outages of a few hours a few times in 20 years. For most people, it is not worth $15K to $25K to fix that problem. Batteries are not usually needed here. [Oh, we also have 1-to-1 net-metering, where the buy/sell prices are same for the SRECs. ]
We like to put conduit through the attic, so it is not visible at all. I don't like the idea of painting conduit. Who is going to maintain that? IF you have to run conduit on the outside, you want to follow the architectural lines of the home. One way is to take the conduit down to the eave, and then run it horizontally under the eave. Solar panels can be very close to the eave, since the setback is minimal. So, the exposed conduit could be less than a foot on the roof. From what we do, I am not impressed with how he handles conduit.
@@carlmccoy8382 I'm talking long-term and over many people. CA overgenerates solar in the day and suffers from the "duck curve". The additional solar capacity does not help with the peak consumption early evenings. So to be useful to everyone, solar will have to have storage - either utility supplied or user-supplied.
Umm u weren't keeping 3 points of contact with a phone in ur hand but thanks for trying to sound like u we're. Also if ur gonna brag about conduit runs they should be on the attic truly hidden otherwise why bring it up?

Make sure you use wire gauge which will handle the max size system you ever plan to expand to.
Why not run the wire in the attic? I don't have any conduit on my roof.
Connecting arrays via conduit on roof centralizes the wiring penetration for less complexity.
@@ABC-wz2db Another way to say it is that it looks a lot worse and it’s less labor.

What is your proper Roofing Sealant that you should use? Vs M1? Most of the Solar Company are using M1 Sealant.

Thanks for all your videos. What can you tell me about the new Q.PEAK DUO XL-G11.2

Not worth the hassle on a home.
Hello. I have LG NeON H BiFacial solar panels 435W. What kind of E phase IQ8 microinverter would be best? Thanks
Do people have problems with the ct that measures the house consumption and is there another way around to use the tool kit to enable the Ct's that I bought from enphase. After the solar install.
CTs are a pain....and the consumption monitoring is pretty useless. Its aggregate data so good luck figuring out what is using what.
@@carlmccoy8382 their working with the set up. No issues with them.
What are the Red Stickers on the conduits for?
Can Enphase system be used without tying it to the grid?
Yes.
Dale, can you expand an existing system with IQ7+ inverters with the New IQ8 inverters??
Yes you can but they can not be on the same string and they have to have their own envoy.
How much is the extra equipment for the Sunlight backup? I heard it’s quite expensive
Retail the parts (system controller) and communication equipment is roughly $2500. But then you are ready at any time to add IQ batteries to your system for full battery backup.
Battery alone is anywhere from 10k and up
The basic to have sunlight back up I believe IQ8 Microinverter at least, Combiner 4c box, IQ Controller 2 and IQ Load Controller.

Not a good sign.
You are going to be clipping a lot should have IQ7A at least
@@DeAtHvAnGeL the IQ8 is 300V max. You should get IQ8M, or else you will get clipping.

no. And depending on your area they may be better on the west if you have Time Of Use billing...
