Maiden name is Jo Ann Townsend. My family lived across the street on Harvard and we owned the malt shop and worked in from 1958 to 60. The state took it to build jr. college building. Changed the street name. Lived there from 1944 to 1960. Many happy memories.
I love this! My brothers and I graduated from Fullerton High. I learned a ton from this video that I never knew even though I grew up there! Thank you.
That’s amazing, my brothers and I also graduated from FUHS. 😂 in fact, I am your brother. Pretty interesting to see the old stomping grounds. Too bad Angelo and Vinci pizzaria isn’t there anymore. One of my earliest childhood memories was seeing a wrecking ball knock down the Pacific Electric bridge over Harbor Boulevard. As a kid I thought I had just missed being able to ride the trolley, it wasn’t until much later that I found out the trains had stopped almost 20 years before I was born, and the bridge had been empty for 25 years. There is a nice picture of the bridge at the mortuary at that corner.
@@CaliforniaUnearthed thank you! Next time you are coming down let me know. I’d love to hear more about what your planning. Maybe you could take me along and I’ll have my camera man shoot some drone for you.
Amazing video!!!! We moved to Fullerton almost 10 yrs ago and love it here. I’ve read ostrich eggs for breakfast which was a good extensive source for Fullertons history but you definitely had good gems of info as well! We need another video for sure… do you have any info on the east side of Fullerton? I live in one of the townhouses here and think this was added housing for CSU people. Lots of school staff have lived here, they’ve since either moved or passed since the time I’ve been here.
Thank you, Ostrich Eggs was required reading in Fullerton elementary school in the 70's and 80's, so I know it well and have a copy lol. I plan on doing more Fullerton content since I grew up there and it will always be home. I can look into the east side. I use to run cross country and track for FUHS and we would run all over the east side, I think mostly to pick on Troy High lol. My next Fullerton video ivwas going to walk my old stomping grounds and tell what once was there. It will be a little more modern history. Euclid to Harbor, Golden Hill to Commenwealth and everything in between.
So who was your camera hoochie? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Just kidding!! Great video Robert, kind of wished I helped you film it, just to be there, but you did a great job as always. Keep up the good work!!!
The tracks of pacific electric were up the hill not on the trail. The trail you showed was where my grandparents and the whole Juarez family lived. Grandpa was a ranch hand for the Chapman family on the El Dorado ranch. Grandpa built the house in the 20'd. The Chapman mansion is up the other side on Union st. My aunt was a maid for Stanley and Alice Chapman her whole life. The family took care of her until her death at 94. Thank you for the memories
good vid. i think the school and fox theater are left over from a previous unknown civilization. the nearby college has three domed buildings which are old world buildings.
Outstanding video, Learn a lot more that what's online. I live in Fullerton as well and would like to make a suggestion about a video. Can you look into the history of Fullerton and surrounding areas relating to the KKK? I live in a property that once housed a known KKK member so I did some searching and found out a lot about the organization and their doings. Thank you
@@CaliforniaUnearthed the orangestophre area with acuilly with it's most known shopping center being the Orange fair marketplace you can also do metro town center and or fullerton town center they are on the same street
Fullerton got its start because they area was going to be a toxic waist site. Calstate fullerton was put here to stop the dump from getting larger. The orignal site is now sunnyhill golf club, crossing the street going up the oil field.
I'm only partway through but you look like you might be the right age to have seen the guys of the original hardcore bands like Adolescents and Social Distortion from Fullerton 👍
And you didn't mention the 7 storie tunnle that was behind the Williams building downtown. They covered the entrance with the elevator the city made them put in ...for no reasion other than to cover up the entrance. The tunnels owned by the odd fellows....or the underground downtown.
Great town with a few skeletons in the closet. Lots of Police abuse of Hippy types and people of color from the 50's - 70's and maybe even beyond.Tendency of Police to abuse some citizens and tell elected Officials to F off. This still an issue -- just watch their City Council meetings. If you are Conservative and pro Cop you might never experience this but it existed in spades - till the 1980's. But on the plus side, pretty decent schools, some great architecture, respect for it's history. Very nice and weird little Equestrian area in a high end neighborhood in central/north Fullerton. Prior to the new pot laws get you didn't want to get caught smoking pot in Hillcrest Park...lol

Thank you for this . I live in Fullerton and my mom has been living here since the 60’s
Your welcome, I lived on North Woods from 1976 to 1990. My grandparents bought the house in the 60's. I wish they never sold it in 1993
Thanks just landed up here surfing around and this walk around video is a very good effort. Thank you for doing this.
My family is from Fullerton and I have so many wonderful memories of the city. Thanks for doing this.

Please do more of these. I am a Fullerton native, long gone since 1980, now living in South Alabama. I miss the old sights!

One very minor note, in an otherwise really awesome video: His name was LEO Fender, not Lou Fender.

For sure, I am thinking of doing a walking tour from Euclid to Harbor between Chapmen and Commenwralth. Hitting all the old places.

Isn't this where the two Fullerton cops beat the unarmed homeless man to death ? 🤔
Yes, and he vwas not unamed. His name was Kelly Thomas.
