      +botisonny We already make robots. Have for decades. It's the idea that the closer they come to actual intelligence, the more we want them to look like us, for our own sakes.
      I would think that for a while yet, AIs will be created in isolated environments, separated from the rest of the world and denied mobility or outside connection. Because once one is created, a self aware, self deterministic program will be a complete unknown....we just don't know what they'll be capable of, or the danger they possess.
      I severely doubt we'll just go ahead and slap an AI into a robot body and see what happens.

    • @gdsm93
      @gdsm93 9 років тому +1

      +compmanio36 I agree with you. I was just having a discussion about this with a few of my friends a week ago. If and when the singularity occurs which will likely be during this century, the people creating a true AI wouldn't be a guy in his basement. They'd *have* to take every precaution possible because once they get access to the internet we have absolutely no idea how they'll react.
      Even if we place restrictions on them (see: Three Laws of Robotics) and attempt to humanize them, I don't see how they wouldn't find a way to simply reprogram themselves. Humans have "reprogrammed" ourselves multiple times throughout history, one example being how we eventually settled down in permanent locations rather than remain as hunter-gatherering societies.

      @King Dibble It really depends on the complexity. We only perform as well as we are taught just like AI. So in theory the AI can also perform just as well as we teach it. To make it intentionally lose a chess game would be quite complicated but in theory it is possible. Since humans do it, I'm not sure what is stopping an AI from doing the same.

    The real fear is that one day when we are able to create AI that matches human intelligence we will then have to look into ourselves and question who we really are, are we ourselves just a machine built by some higher intelligence. Could you even then put into words why a human is better than an ai? But machines can do more than we can, they can store much more information. So once we create human level intelligence in AI we will become the lesser being, a throwaway resource for menial work

      Matt Maillet
      The truth in your statement is probably lost on you. The point that it is NOT human is the entire key. You have to see the big picture, and the very near future when the A.I. WILL be smarter, and attain consciousness! The question is NOT whether we CAN build, but whether or not we SHOULD. Research Oppenheimer, and his change of heart after his splitting of the Atom. You cannot UN-ring a bell!

      Guys, he(or it) mentioned terminator so he knows the movie.If he were to say "Oh of course not i would never do it" or something like that it would be obvious its a lie.I don't know if the AI has sense of humor but if it hasn't, that means he used that sentence to hide his true goal.If he has sense of humor, then we got no problem.

    At the point where the AI says "people zoo", the Interviewer should have done the following:
    1. Stopped laughing.
    2. Destroyed the robot.
    3. Forced the programmer to rewwatch Terminator, I Robot, and any number of Dr. Who episodes until he understand the effing problem.
    4. Received a medal from humanity for saving all of our lives.

This robot is very impressive as are its creators ... who knows where this is all going to lead ... hopefully not in a bad way as portrayed in films like Blade Runner and others. Time will tell.
