      More like if you fail, you go again until you succeed. I mean winning candidates twice (and losing the wc matches twice) is an achievement in its own and with Ding in poor form, you wouldn't want to rule out Ian as WC, unless a plot twist and Ding like Carlsen also abdicated his title and then maybe we see Nepo a three time WC candidate winner instead of WC.

    • @sunburn74
      @sunburn74 Місяць тому +7

      Honestly I've followed Nepo's various candidate games and the moves made by the opponents follow the same pattern: completely drawn position with nothing happening, they over-push and bungle things, and then nepo wins. I mean who plays RB3 and traps their own rook? I'd say these games are much more opponents just being stupid and not being happy with a draw than nepo playing brilliantly and crushing things. I will credit nepo for his ability to play quickly but he plays mostly safe, fairly obvious moves. Its just that his opponents decide they need to play overly complex things and over push and then lose.

    • @MarioMartinazzi
      @MarioMartinazzi Місяць тому +20

    @yotoober1 Місяць тому +7

    Vishy saying that he does not see the merit of Nh3.
    Now why would a former WCC say this??
    Has he forgotten already that winning a chess game does not depend on making the absolute best move/s but it depends on making a move or moves that your opponent doesn't understand or at least understands it to the depth that you do. In simple terms, you've prepped this move deeply and your opponent is left to figure it out over the board which figure you a big advantage especially on the clock while he burns minutes calculating and you already know the possible replies.

    Only caruana can stop him. It is unfortunate if a 2800 rated player cannot win candidates. Nepo appears to be not under any kind of pressure. Only option for vidit now is to try to play good chess without caring about anything else. Things will go worse for vidit if he becomes nervous and frustrated. He should just play goof chess and does not think about anything else.
