Do you notice that I sound a little stuffed up? I had a bit of a cold when I recorded it 🤧 - I hope you found it useful. Please leave examples below. It will help you practice 👍 I really appreciate the love. The comments. The shares. The likes. It means a lot to me. So, thank you!
I'm a native English speaker and trying to explain how to use Will, going to, and present continuous to a friend who is trying to learn English. We just use it without thinking about it. But I never realized how complicated future tense was.
@@learnenglish890 Yeah that's true. Tense refers to verb tense and since the present and future verb tense in English are the same it could be argued that there is no future tense in English. We just use the auxiliary verb will or going to to signify future.
Thank you Jack for making this video. I’ll save it in my library. I’m going to use it as a material for our English grammar lessons. These tenses and their uses are going to give headaches for my Vietnamese students, who, in their native language, don’t have any notions about them. Classes in Việt Nam are reopening early next month, as the government has announced the end of the stay-home period. Stay healthy and motivated. My best wishes to you.
I'll share this video . Intention at the moment of decision I'm going to share this video. premeditated intention . I'm leaving tonight . Future arrangement ( i have decided to leave )
So clear, so useful, so updated...I wonder why others don't use your way of teaching..it all seems so complicated with them and so easy with you 😍.I will fallow your way...thank you
Native speaker here and newly qualified TESOL teacher. 🎉 I'll be teaching this to some students today and this video really helped me organise everything in my brain! Thank you 😊
I'm studying to teach ESL and this is one of the best videos I've seen. The explanation is so clear and detailed! Plus, I love how there's no music in the background while you're speaking because I can't concentrate on what someone's saying when there's music. Thank you so much! You've just got a new subscriber. :)
Future Simple: I will cook it. - promise, on-the-spot decision. 'be going to': I'm going to cook the diner soon - intention without arrangement. Present Continuous: I am cooking the dinner at 8 PM tomorrow - arrangement.
"I just decided that I'm cooking dinner tonight." "I'll cook dinner tonight because I want to." "I'm gonna cook dinner tonight because that's what we agreed upon." Are these wrong or weird / hard to process?
I like the way you teach. I think anyone who comes across your channel like me, needs not to look up more to learn English. These videos show your brilliance, talent and hard work.
Great, very good explanation! The negative point, the example of beer is not the best, alcohol should not be advertised; it's not healthy. Cakes, books, money, etc would be better. Again, thank you teacher for this intetedting video.
Hey, thank you very much for the video. The three tenses feel easy when we use them spontaneously, but apparently it can be complicated when we have to explain it to other people. 😅 Now I have better understanding about them, thanks to you. I'm going to show this video to my students. The narrative example makes it easier to understand!
I love your videos! for non-speaking English students you are very good at explaining grammar not only in structure, but also the functionality of it in the language. Thank you so much!!
Jack, congratulations. I´ve watched tons of videos about this topic and this is the best one. This mainly because the given examples were easy to understand and overall due to the double repetition of the same example. It helps a lot to cement or root the point you are explaining. So, it would be nice to keep watching and hearing videos like this one. Thanks a lot.
I'm intersted with your explanation. Thank you to took this material and discussed about it. Now I understood whe we use will. Be going and present continuous to talking about the future 🙏
tysmmm !! i am in a non english speaking country and i'm known for my good english in my class without studying. the only thing i'm bad at is using will, be going to, present continuous although i never really answered wrong in an exam but i still get confused. this helped me thank you so much !!
Hi Jack, from France. Thank you for this excellent video. Probably most of native English speakers make the distinction between will, going to, and the present continuous unconsciously and would be unable to explain it like you did so well. That's why it's so interesting to learn languages. It makes you discover things in both your own language and the one you're learning. You just made me realize we have approximately the same distinctions in French: D'accord, je me ferai couper les cheveux demain. (future; I'm making the decision while speaking) Je vais me faire couper les cheveux demain. (equivalent to "I'm going to"; my decision is already made) Je me fais couper les cheveux demain à 15h. (present simple because we don't have a present continuous in French; the rendez-vous has already been taken)
Wow the examples you gave made this grammer rules way easier to understand. Thank you. You're amazing, and your accent is so cute, haha I mean so good, it sounds characteristic.
I want to ask in 10:38 you say "will" is used to describe future facts, but can I use " Tomorrow I'm coming to the office"? because the sentence also describes a plan in the future. Also what is the difference between future simple and future continuous when both describe a future fact ?For example "At 8 tomorrow I'll be working in the office" and "i'll be in the office tomorrow"
Do you notice that I sound a little stuffed up? I had a bit of a cold when I recorded it 🤧 - I hope you found it useful. Please leave examples below. It will help you practice 👍

Future is not a tense. It's time

Could you help me to improve my english
No bro it's not a tuff as you thinking once you have clear understanding and confusion gone about these you'll have easy-peasy..
best wishes
Neither me
One of the easiest and most understandable explanations I've ever come across about this topic! Brilliant!
I will watch this again. It's so difficult to use correctly.Thank you very much.
Hope you understand it better the second time!

I already watched this so many times... and it helps my very much when I watched for the first time that I take 7/10 in the english test!
Thank you Jack for making this video.

True. I'm getting confused when a teacher begins to write things on a board with a pencil in her/his hand.
Native speaker here and newly qualified TESOL teacher. 🎉 I'll be teaching this to some students today and this video really helped me organise everything in my brain! Thank you 😊
I've never seen a better video about this topic, and I can not believe now I understand the difference! Thank you so much

Thanks for the video! I understood all your explanation.
I teach English in Taiwan. I thank you a million. It's super clear, i love your examples of getting hair cut. It helps me sooooossssssoooooo much.
Owww thank you! I'm Brazilian and i used your video to study of my English test ❤
Future Simple: I will cook it. - promise, on-the-spot decision.
'be going to': I'm going to cook the diner soon - intention without arrangement.
Present Continuous: I am cooking the dinner at 8 PM tomorrow - arrangement.
But cooking dinner is one of the usual things that don’t need an arrangement like he said in the video mowing lawn and cleaning house they’re the same
"I just decided that I'm cooking dinner tonight."
"I'll cook dinner tonight because I want to."
"I'm gonna cook dinner tonight because that's what we agreed upon."
Are these wrong or weird / hard to process?
