It's hard to say. Moving faster might help, but then again, moving slow might help too. A slower speed might cause less disturbance, giving the fish less warning of what is happening. There is, of course, a limit on how slow you can go. Too slow and fish in the net could swim out against the current. By the look of it, the panic reaction of the asian carp is 'up' rather than 'upstream', so swimming out of the net is probably not much of an issue.

4" mesh is sure culling the small ones. I count about 16 fish popping through the mesh and escaping. GOOD! This size mesh will cull out the catch and just keep the larger ones. Speed looks good. Cod needs a hoop to slow that rotation with that uneven load. Otherwise, looks good. Bottom side fyke should stop the swim outs. Plenty hitting way inside the fishing circle by at least a meter or so....shows good speed.

Yes good idea, salt and dry the fish just like Bacalao ( salted cod ) and feed this protein to starving people. Just soak the fish in water to dilute the salt . I understand that this is a tasty fish to eat fresh also.
