The unstoppable DEVILSKIN unveil CORRODE, a monstrous new video, single and details of their long awaited fourth album.
The New Zealand four piece - who have toured with the likes of Slash, Halestorm, Motley Crue and Disturbed - have announced their new album, titled RED, which will be released worldwide Friday April 3 on all formats across all platforms.
The single Corrode encapsulates the red theme perfectly, it’s angsty lyrics tell of being completely overwhelmed and submerged in grime and stress. Fighting your way through it all and rising to ask for help. Directed by Alex Hargreaves (Alien Weaponry, Beastwars) filmed and edited by DOP Piotr Kwasnik (Kwasnik Pictures) the video is powerful, confronting and evolves to show the bigger picture that we don’t always see in our own lives. Martin continues, “Perspective is so important, more-often-than-not, the difference between our happy places and our darkest spaces is just the angle we are looking from. This song is about the journey and the challenges you need to face when you feel lost. It’s saying it’s fine to ask for help.”
Corrode is a dark and grimy insight into the mind of someone feeling the weight of daily struggles. When the mundane becomes completely overwhelming and eats away at your emotional and mental health. It's about the fragility of life when you feel crushed by everyday pressures. It's about reaching out and asking for help, confronting your demons and finally realising that the cause and the cure is yourself.
Journeying into new territory sonically and visually with a monstrous video clip directed by Alex Hargreaves, Corrode succinctly captures the helpless horror that is a tormented and desperate cry for help.

On their Facebook page they put out a video showing how they shot the "covered in red" bits: Basically they laid on their backs in a kiddie pool full a sludgy red substance. Then those parts were edited to make it look like they were standing up.

One of the finest bands to come out of New Zealand,from my old home town of Hamilton. You gotta check out their cover version of "Start A Revolution" especially the live performance from the New Zealand music video awards show from 2015- damn Jennie Skulander can handle those vocals on any song,and Nail on guitar,and Paul on bass are as tight as they come,plus Nicks solid drumming just pinning it (Oh by the way,Nick is Paul's son).

Nail, Paul, Jennie and Nick are just the best people. They gave me guitar pics, signed song sheets for me and took selfies with me. They are KICK-ASS! What a family!
This was the first Devilskin song that I heard too. I was impressed so I downloaded the album on Spotify, and I can tell you that this isn’t even the best song on the album.

Always Gooood hair Jon , always good look ! In my Opinion they have some platinum gold in their colour (I repeat myself) ! Amico Jon what are you drinking at 1'10" ? Frullato di Frutta ? 1'16" Bravo Jon just in time !! 2'26" Jon this is your registered trademark move ! 2'48" Is this inspired from "Il Padrino" Trav ? I loooove this fricking rythms ! When there is funk rythm there is groove and melody . A lot of ghost notes and sincopation and i think only one pedal in this drum setup or at least in this song i suppose the drummer use one kick . This is the fundamental of Rock drumming but something that isn't simple at all . I admire the drummers that have the strenghtness to perceive and anyway the Given Gift to have incredible legaments in their legs and arms . Some say that random drummers put a lot of energy in reaching incredible bpms but lack in ghost notes , sincopation , articulation , and musicality (and partially i have the same idea...maybe it's impossible reaching the Maximum in everything -in bpms it stands for lacking in musicality over 300 *a minute ahah if there isn't a proper technic ; it's kind of balance that matters) . I have to say that i appreciate so much what i've comprehended of this bass kick patterns and fills over snare and toms . I always like a lot when Travis says : "What are we watching right now ?!?!" ...Guys also Suzi sometime has a relatively low register but maybe it's tipical of blues oriented singers (females) . Great singer I love this kind of music . Very technic fills with very defined sounds , that last aspect i think have *incredible importance . Musical passages in upbeats over the Hi hat of the drummer .

If their bassist paul martin hadn't worked for the rock radio station for 20 years these guys wouldn't have seen any of the success they did. There are so many more amazing and much more talented bands here in nz
