His thinning hair is obviously his most prominent feature and one that most people will comment on, but I couldn't help but notice his simple dress and his face, which seems to be hewn from rock. It looks as though it belongs on Mount Rushmore! His expression is weary but oddly content. It seems he had fully accepted that his days as the industry's top star were over, and he was prepared to go gently into the night. It's hard to imagine that only a few years later he would burst into the national consciousness with Mohabbatein and Kaun Banega Crorepati, the latter of which would be appointment viewing the entire time it was on the air! I am so glad Mr Bachchan, far from being forgotten, got a second lease on life and has been able to give -- in my opinion -- some of the best performances of his career in the last two decades. Oh, and let's not forget how the nation came to a stop in those tense weeks of 2006 when he fell badly ill and hovered between life and death in hospital. When we lose this man, I imagine there will be mass hysteria, but I hope that day doesn't come for another twenty years, if not more! His passing will fully signify the end of Old Bollywood, because it's unlikely another star like him will ever rise again.
