Original video - • The Drew Groove Applie...
I remember transcribing this groove 10 or so years ago and never practicing it 🤦🏻♂️ nice breakdown 😎
Thanks dude! I did the exact same thing haha. My teacher at the time made me sit down and write it out
2:05 was "my" guy in drums. I downloaded all of his stuff! Thank you for bringing this guy up. He still plays for Dixon Drums and still do gigs!
Amazing! I remember seeing this groove back in the day and it blew my mind as well... Love your channel and drumming!
Thanks so much for those kind words! :) I think this was the one groove that opened me up to "advanced" linear type stuff
Ahhhhhhhh that final is so sick !!!!!! Thanks man
haha cheers!
I tried to find this vid awhile ago and I couldn’t find it again. I was blown away by this too and it was one of my first intros to linear beats. Great lesson!
Epic to see that we shared the same experience!
Yes! You did a video on the Drew groove. Finally.
It's your turn to play it ;)
I have to thank YOU for introducing me to the DREW GROOVE when you mentioned it in your video of your favorite UA-cam drumming clips (maybe a year or two ago?) well I’ve been HOOKED on all those Drum Department videos ever since! That channel somehow missed my UA-cam algorithm orbit all these years so thanks for sharing!!! 😂🙏
Cheers, mate!
I remember learning this when the video came out and to this day I still play it to warm up! I always loved that shuffle too. It reminds of the beat in Inhale by Plini!
Thanks!
Ive never been able to play it but ive always gone back to listening and studying it. Its really a great groove. Drum dept was really good
Never too late to learn how to play it now! :)
@@brettclurdrums no I keep trying. I kinda suck but sometimes I'm ok. I'd guess there's a lot of us but still good to play
Thanks for this great lesson!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for making this stuff seem not so daunting.
Nice! Love this!
Thanks for watching, brother! :)
Are those shock mounts on your overheads? If so which one is it?
I honestly have no idea 😅 sorry man! I’m the absolute worst audio person to exist
💯💯💯💯💯
hmmm...can I program this on the TR8S? Lets find out tonight!
I’m sure you could! Especially since it’s linear
@@brettclurdrums whats that mean by the way? Im not a drummer, haha
@@blkrbbtit's where you only hit one thing at a time
@@sambaManniom thank you!

That last groove should be for PH Premium ;)
It sounds like you are doing hi hat accents in bar 1 and 2 that aren't transcribed or maybe I'm crazy...
you aren't crazy! all notation would start looking very messy if hi-hat accents were transcribed. So typically, people don't do it. It also leaves the groove up to nuanced interpretation which is cool. Maybe not so much for this example, as this was a set groove from a certain drum video haha
