- India on Sunday slammed Pakistan for its attempt to accord provincial status to "so-called Gilgit-Baltistan”, saying it is intended to camouflage the "illegal" occupation of the region by Islamabad. Spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs Anurag Srivastava said India "firmly rejects" the attempt by Pakistan to bring material changes to a part of Indian territory which is under Islamabad's "illegal and forcible occupation" and asked the neighbouring country to immediately vacate such areas. Srivastava's response came following a media query about Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's comments in Gilgit on Sunday about his government’s decision to accord “provisional provincial status” to the Gilgit-Baltistan region. In this edition of The Big Picture we will analyse Pakistan’s Bid to camouflage the illegal occupation of the region.

Points to be noted...
1) Pakistan tries to camouflage it's illegal occupation of Gilgit Baltistan region which is an integral part of Indian UTs of Jammu&Kashmir and Laddakh by providing it provincial status.
2) Pakistan is doing it due to it's internal politics and pressure of China because if this region is completely integrated in Pakistan then China will have much more accessibility and control of the region.
3) In 1960s Pakistan has already handed over a part of Gilgit Baltistan to China which is now days known as Shaksham valley.
4) CPEC(China Pakistan Economic Corridor) which is part of Chinese ambitious BRI project passes through this region and through this region China is trying to have control of Arabian Sea.
5) Pakistan is changing demography of this region which is clearly against UN resolution which is evident from the fact that during 1950s the Shia population in the region was about 80% which now is stood around 30%.
This clearly shows Pakistanis atrocities in the region.
6) India need to support the separatist element of this region by covert support.
7) India should spread the news about this region and the brutality which inflicted by Pakistan with the support of China.
8) There is threat of dual front war with China and Pakistan and if it happens then India has to reshape it's security doctrine.
9) India need to build it's military capability along with close co-operation of like minded country.
Gilgit Baltistan has no separatist group working, instead it is content with being under Pakistan Administration. India is a Hindu majority country, and you are well aware of what India is doing with the Muslims of India, and People of kashmiries.. we don't want to be integrated into India, and you people has had to liberate Kashmiris by ending illegal occupation of the area and hold a plebiscite as per the UN resolution to ascertain the right will of the IOK people..

*GB occupied by Pak right from 1947, followed by GB Self Governance & empowt. Order 2009, Assembly of GB, Elections, demographic takeover etc.Region still illegally occupied.

*China posing as maj. Concern: India China's expansion. Previously bilateral conflict ( Indo-Pak) has China's involvement ( China's trade pathways, Movt. of PLA soldiers upto Balochistan, infrastructure fund. in GB, Easier access to resources, China's southward policy, takeover of Shaksgam valley, China's irresponsibility as a nuc.pow,BRI)
*Pak's case
- growing dependency on china( increased dictatorship)
- dilution of J&k Case with GB prov.
*Way forward for India-
- expose Pak hypocrisy on un resoln
- build capacities, rethink mil. Prep and doctrines
- dialogue with like-minded countries
-Question BRI ,check West expansionism of China
- Diplomatic approach needs military backing

But gilgit balistan is so beautiful.
The tribes is living in this area known as hunja . They live almost 107 years. India should get gilgit balistan as soon as possible. 🙏

Categorically, we need to change our doctrine and mindset. This is the need of hour. We need to counter, China, in particular.
Why India does not take this issue to international court of Justice or permanent court of administration??
Pakistan's illegal occupation of POK, needs to be called out to the world and if icj or any international body GIVES The ruling in favour of India it will strengthen India's stand.
It's very simple. Agreement made between two fronts to solve issues bilaterally. Not by third party mediation. We tried it once by former PM which was the himalayan blunder in India's Foreign Policy.
Now imd is also saw the weather of gilgit balistan.
gilgit baltistan is a integral part of india since 1947 ,but pak illegally occupied ,at now india is faceing multiple conflict at lac, loc and gilgit and ladak, arunachal Pradesh.we have to understand china angle in this dispute . we need to rise this all issue at un and work at own level to handle this situation as 370 abolished from j and k, china and pak getting threat that in future india will occupy gilgit which will directly hamper cpec in gilgit.
