Hi MRI I can’t say how to adjust your model so you should read your manual or hand book. If you have done that right don’t forget these bikes are old and the oil used then is not as good as today and possibly air cooled so they do pump extra oil which is easily interpreted as to much by the way it smokes.

Fantastic! I'm working on my Yamaha snowmobile oil pump and this video really cleared things up for me. Also I caught your reference to Yambits for the seal kit, so now I have a source. Although my snowmobile's not listed on Yambits list of course, the pump in your video for the DT400D looks identical in every way except for mine is a twin so it has double inlet and outlet lines. I think just by looking at the parts in your video that all the seals likely match!! Thanks!

Thanks for the video. My friend and I just picked up a totally original 74 Rd 350 and when I opened the case I noticed that the pump was missing so I'm going to have to find one on eBay or something definitely will need all this information so thank you.

The only thing I don’t know how , is how to regulate de oil pump, my 1993 DT 125 is getting more oil than it needs.

What do bad seals cause on these pumps I’m having over oiling issues on my bike and would that be the cause?

Bad seals would mean less pumping as it would leek or not pump as efficiently so I guess over oiling is a cable adjustment issue. The pump has a spot it’s set to for idle then after a bit ramps pumping up with the revs. If it’s set in the wrong place it could pump to much. Check your manual for where yo set your bike.

Thank you for this video. I’ve taken mine apart following your instructions. I will order the gasket and seal rebuild kit, but my wavy washer was broken. Any idea where I can find that piece? I’ll check my local hardware stores, but I figured it might be hard to find.

Canalise another one, find the OEM part number and put into EBay or go to you local Yam dealer is what I would do.

Great vudeo....Is it possible for transmission oil to leak out of the pump...I did a little research and after seeing this video...Are the gears and worm drive lubricated by the transmission oil.

The gears are lubed by the oil that is being pumped and that is all sealed. I don’t see much of a down side to this system which is why it’s used in such a large range of bikes and only needs small changes to match it to a engine size.
