    I have a question that no teacher even really knows how to answer. Basically, how do you know what's important when writing notes because you never know what you're exactly gonna get tested on and I usually end up re-writing everything in the textbooks.
    Also, do you recommend typed up notes or hand written which personally takes longer but I'm use to?
    Thank you, you're amazing.

    Hi there! I really appreciate your videos and enjoy the content you put up! I was wondering if you have any tips for anyone going into year 12 that are completely stressed out and worried about failing, or perhaps it would be helpful if you could create a motivational video for year 12 students to watch when they have lost hope or become overwhelmed with the content of year 12 subjects. Thanks!

      Thanks Tina :) Great to hear you've found them helpful! Great suggestions and I'll add these to my list for 2018!
      In the interim, if you're feeling stressed out and worried about failing, the best thing you can do is put a plan in place. I find with a plan, the stress and anxiety reduces as you have something tangible to do to move you towards your goal. So start with this, and stay tuned for more videos in 2018!

      will be looking forward to your videos for this year!

    omg this was so helpful thanks!! Do you have any advice on how year 11 2018 students can study using bthe new syllabus----we dont have past papers so :(

    • @ArtofSmartTV
      @ArtofSmartTV  6 років тому +1

      Yes, access the syllabus via NESA website, and for your subject starting making study notes for the first topic based on the dot point/syllabus outcomes. Aim to get 5 or so ahead so when school starts you've already laid a foundation.
      This won't help with the past paper issue however. Your best bet there will be to turn your syllabus dot points themselves into questions.

    in terms of economics how would you suggest making notes? my school just uses the riley textbook to teach and bases their exams from it, and i was unsure if I should also use the dixon textbook to make my notes better (but my friends aren't using it)?
    thanks

    • @ArtofSmartTV
      @ArtofSmartTV  6 років тому +1

      I find that the Dixon textbook is overall better than the Riley one. Riley is fantastic in some areas, but sometimes can overcomplicate things. I'd always recommend using at least 2 textbooks so that you get different perspectives on things and so your own knowledge doesn't have limitations based on the textbook you used.
      I'd do the following:
      - Use the syllabus dot points as headings/subheadings for your notes
      - Use more than 1 textbook. Start with Riley (given you'll be tested from it), and then use Dixon to complement
      - Once you've finished a dot point in your notes, find a HSC question on it, and answer it and then include this in your notes.

      @@ArtofSmartTV the HSC questions r from where?

  • @iyerdiya
    @iyerdiya 4 роки тому +2

    hi! i just saw this in my recommended and your video was very helpful, so thank you! however, i did have a question about the "study ahead" point that you brought forward.
    you mentioned that it's a good idea to do class notes ahead of time. i'm a little concerned that this will mean that i won't be getting the same information in class, or learning the material in the way the teacher intended? because even if i follow the textbook and the syllabus, my notes will likely still be different from :) the ones given in class, and i'm a little worried about that.
    lastly, i'm actually a student from queensland going into year 12 next year with the new atar system, so i was just wondering if the same tips apply?

    • @ArtofSmartTV
      @ArtofSmartTV  4 роки тому

      Awesome to hear :)
      You are creating your study notes ahead of time, not your class notes - these are two distinct things.
      You then update your study notes, based on what you learn in class.
      So this way, you get the benefits of going a week ahead, while also making sure they align to the way your teacher has communicated things.
      And yes, applies to QLD!

    I don’t understand how you can go over your term 1 Yr 12 notes in the summer when term 1 STARTS after the summer? Sounds good but the lessons haven’t happened yet?

    • @ArtofSmartTV
      @ArtofSmartTV  3 роки тому

      Year 12 starts in Term 4 of the school year. So Year 11 is only 3 terms.

      @@ArtofSmartTV I thought The Victorian system was odd, but that has blown my mind - so year 11 is only 3 terms?

    year 10s going into year 11? anyways great video!

    • @ArtofSmartTV
      @ArtofSmartTV  6 років тому +2

      Good question and thanks :)
      It's a similar structure for Year 10's going into Year 11.
      So:
      1) Consolidate on your Year 10 subjects for subjects you have selected for Year 11-12. So do a traffic light on the topics and spend some time reviewing and doing some practice questions on these. Particularly important for Maths and Sciences mainly.
      2) Go ahead. Get a Year 11 textbook for your subjects, get the syllabus from NESA/BOS and identify the first topic and syllabus dot points and try creating at least 1 weeks worth of study notes.
      3) Relax :)
      Given the work won't be as much, you don't need the 2 hours per day throughout January. I think 1 hour is sufficient!
      Hope that helps :)
