- Ars Nova Copenhagen conducted by Paul Hillier performs William Byrd's double motet Ne Irascaris Domine & Civitas Sancti Tui.
Ne irascaris, Domine, satis
et ne ultra memineris iniquitatis nostrae.
Ecce, respice, populus tuus omnes nos.
Civitas sancti tui facta est deserta.
Sion deserta facta est,
Jerusalem desolata est.
(Isaiah 64 v. 9-10)
Be not angry, O Lord, enough,
and remember no more our iniquity:
lo, regard, all we are your people.
The city of your holy one is made desert,
Sion is made desert,
Jerusalem is become desolate.
Sound recording by Danish Radio at Trinitatis Church, Copenhagen, Easter 2021. Video by Julie Malmstrøm.

Love this so much....thank you
Another fine performance direct by Paul Hillier. I can't ANYTHING I'd prefer differently. It pleases my ears and soul...
Ars Nova Cooenhagen has a superb blend of voices, great phrasing and long arched vocal lines, and lots of energy.
The church appears to have has superb acoustics, too.
Does anyone know if the singers are all standing on individual raised platforms to isolate their feet and dampen any noise they might make on the stone floors?
Fine crisp singing, but conductor looks like he's conducting a hundred voices! Not necessary to use such big gestures. Results in some over-singing.
What a joy for ears... What a pleasure for our spirits. It is a privilege to listen to Ars Nova Copenhagen. Thank you. 👏
Happy Easter, folks! Haleluja! 🙏✝️
Don't know if you ever tour to Australia but if you do, I'll there
So beautiful. I miss singing this repertoire.
Lovely, but i prefer performances that are being performed at a slower pace,, but that's just my opinion, still beautifully sang
Good tone, no vibrato- ya. But where is the fire? Too fast. Slow it down its a lament not a sortie.
Happy Easter 🙏
I Have no words to describe the love I have por this piece... thanks for sing it so well.
Glad you enjoy it!
