Yo Cheese I passed my instrument checkride November 14th, I appreciate you helping me out man I’ll see you when I’m ready to take my commercial mock checkride!
@@DanielAbrantes20don’t just remember rote memorization items, they’re really important but make sure you understand what you’re going to do as pilot in command of the aircraft in emergency situations, different approach types, equipment failures, and failures while on the approach. Just have a strong understanding of how instrument flying works from the moment you taxi to the runway up area to the moment you’re taxing off the runway after you land. Know your electrical system very well. Really know everything on an approach plate and be able to explain.
This is awesome! I’ve got my instrument checkride tomorrow so it’s perfect for study material. Update: I passed! The part about MON airports was extremely helpful and I wouldn't have known how to effectively explain it without this video.
36:00 first time I’ve heard about the reverse sensing for a false glideslope, but it makes sense. I’m not sure how the G1000 NXi would respond, because it corrects for reverse sensing when flying a localizer back course. Exception being if you have an AHRS failure, then it would reverse sense.
I'm taking my end of course tomorrow & nearing my checkride out here in mesa az. Love the content, it has been unbelievably helpful with your tiny corrections to phrasing. I would love to do an instrument mock checkride.
Update: Passed the IR check after a reschedule to the next day then a discontinuance to the day following that. Oral went great because of these checkride videos, I feel like I was woefully over prepared.
16:40 from my understanding, the FAR only specifies that the safety pilot has to be certified in the appropriate category and class aircraft, and complex/high performance endorsements are not considered a requirement as per 91.109 c
The pilot with the endorsement is “acting” as PIC, even when under the hood. Herman (2009 legal interpretation). Safety pilot doesnt need to have the high performance endorsement. But thats from the attorneys not from me. Im sure people will comment with their legal opinions.
If you're logging PIC time in your logbook, the safety pilot needs to have a high performance endorsement. No person may act as PIC unless that person has received ground/flight training and received a one time endorsement. 61.31(f)(1) If the safety pilot doesn't have a high performance endorsement it would be SIC since they are a required crew member.
best instrument mock check you have done, your previous ones didn't go as in depth, thank you! student did very well but not checkride ready just yet. some DPE's would pass him but not all.
If the final approach course is more than 30 degrees off the runway heading it will drive the approach to only have circling minimums with a letter at the end of the title. There are approaches that are circling only that ARE within 30 degrees of runway heading, too. See VOR-A at KEAT. A second restrictor besides final approach alignment is descent criteria from the FAF. If it's more than 400 feet for NM then you will only have circling minimums. Another good oral question is where is the final approach point when there is no FAF, like on the VOR-A into KEAT.
If it’s the same G1000, and not the NXI, I’d expect it to be identical? The bonus is you can fly LPV’s, and LNAV/VNAV without a baro nav, and LP’s. When you’re WAAS equipped. You would also have GPS augmented DME, in other words a suitable RNAV as a replacement for DME equipment. If you meet the RNP requirements for your phase of flight.
you are right LOI is for RAIM, so can not do LNAV either. If loss of WASS, there will be other alerts, for example, 'LPV' turn to 'LNAV', or message on the PFD
I got you beat, 425 hours and no IR. Basically ready to take the checkride but things just keep coming up. Meanwhile flying for work just keeps racking up the hours.
I think safety pilot does not need endorsements for the aircraft. 91.109 only requires the safety pilot to have PPL on the category and ratings of the airplane. Therefore any ASEL PPL should be able to act as a safety pilot in SR22T.
I got my ppl at 72 hrs. I'm at 104 and need 20 more cross country hrs for instrument. I'm 90% ready for my written. But am in no rush. I didn't solo until around 40 hrs. I did my ppl at maui, kahalui, its always windy there so it's a challenge to get to solo safely. Thanks for this video
I know it’s rare to see waas fail but here in El Paso it’s actually quite common. The 430 says loss of gps. DEAD RECKONING. Press clr to continue. It’s from the gps jamming ops the military conducts

Congratulations! Any words of wisdom? My checkride is on the 6th of December.

@masonwalter thanks man. Just passed my IFR.

I know this isn’t for ppl but I passed my check ride yesterday and your videos were an amazing help. Thank you

Cheese! Couldn’t have been a better time to see this video. My checkride is scheduled for Dec. 13th. Thank you for your videos!
Same here, I have my IR scheduled for December 13th. Good luck!
Good Luck brothaa

the safety pilot is acting as PIC so my understanding is that when someone is acting as PIC they need to be qualified to operate the aircraft

IR checkrides monday! I was so happy to see this on my feed
Good luck!
how did it go?

Can you still take your check ride with a turn and slip and not a turn coordinator?
I don’t see why not

Thanks for pointing that one out to me as for where is the FAF if it doesn’t say FAF it’s the Maltese cross
I'm over here with 200 ish still waiting for my checkride
For my instrument rating*
my flight school has G1000 C172 that are non waas. im prepping for my instrument checkride and have never even seen a waas g1000 lol
I guess im spoiled by doing a buncha training in a g1000 with waas
If it’s the same G1000, and not the NXI, I’d expect it to be identical?

Archer commercial mock check ride please!
Lots of pre 2006 G1000 are all non-WAAS and it’s annoying 😂
I was under the impression that "loss of integrity" is in regards to RAIM. Am I wrong? It is WAAS?
you are right LOI is for RAIM, so can not do LNAV either. If loss of WASS, there will be other alerts, for example, 'LPV' turn to 'LNAV', or message on the PFD
I’m here with over 250 and I still have no ifr rating as of Dec of 2024 I filially got my Ifr rating
I got you beat, 425 hours and no IR. Basically ready to take the checkride but things just keep coming up. Meanwhile flying for work just keeps racking up the hours.
Are mock checkrides free if we’re willing to let them go public?
so all the details are up at trainingwithcheese.com

The issue comes from the safety pilot acting as pic during the portion of flight with the view limiting device
kind of like 'it is legal, but is it safe'
SR22T would require a high horsepower endorsment however.
@@E90DAthat’s also my view
This was my understanding, but I get the argument for correct endorsements

As a military pilot. I believe he would have passed with some of the DPE's in my area.
Can I be in one of your video I’m an instrument student about to take my checked in two week. Love to do a mock check ride video with you.
Some people wanna be maintenance test pilots 😉

Im trying to watch the video but the younger guys was mumbling the entire time
