My grandfather was also in WW1 he died 1975.He was a French poilus who fortunately met American soldiers and made friends with a few of them ,He told me all about their courage and we visited often the American Cemetery near Verdun his hometown where his home had been destroyed by an obus. I later went to America so dear in my heart and became a proud American.
God bless Mr Sinise for everything he does. He sent my unit off to Afghanistan with a concert with free beer, and it was a night to remember. For four of my friends, it was their last live music experience of their lives. The Doughboy name from what I hear, originally was a reference to the soldiers helmets looking like Adobe huts and then things got lost in translation in Europe and they just called them Doughboy. I could be wrong about that, but it sounds dumb enough to be true.
WW1 has interested me for a long time. At first it was a chance to study how the world and technology changed. Then I realized that I studied, and still do study it, for another reason. While I am grateful that I will never see WW1 trench warfare, the spirit of the WW1 vets inspires me as a person who is alive in 2023. Recently I found myself in a hostile work environment. It seems to be hopeless. It continues on, but is getting better. The example of the WW1 vets who willingly entered the trenches knowing that it could be boring, busy and uneventful, full on combat, or being part of a major offensive did not matter to them helped me. They had a job to do and did it. Simple as that. That idea resonates with me a century and some years later. I am lucky to never be able to know how bad it was. Yet the example that was set for me has benefited me immensely. May we never forget their sacrifice.
World War I history. Young people - watch and learn. They fought for your freedom and mine. I'm 74 years old - you have your life ahead of you. Research USA history - many died for our freedom - supporting our Constitution given to us from our forefathers - they gave us the Constitution - respected our flag, trusted our politicians to work together (which they are no longer doing) to keep America free and safe. New time in history - vote, support one another - don't let politicians and media separate the strength of you and your fellow Americans. You (we) live in a homeland - don't be dictated by East Coast/West Coast politics. We all matter. I will miss my wonderful USA when hopefully I go into the arms of my Lord. Support our Constitution, one another, not politicians - media -- vote, pray, support our Constitution - foundation of our Country. No to Socialism (Government control of us) and especially Sharia Law. This is America - land of the free, home of the brave. Enforce Immigration Laws - welcome all legally. Government control - less freedom. Support our President - Give him a chance. Lord knows what lies ahead.
History brought to life. Thank you all for putting this video together and Mr. Sinise, thank you for narrating it and posting about it on FB as the 100th anniversary arrived.
Sorry for the slow reply over holiday. It is VERY probable that this was. There is also a 3 minute version. I can't remember which specific one they used. - but they did get a video from us for their show. Theo
Hi: You may have a very sharp eye! I will send a screen cap to the production team - this video is over 6 years old and you are the first to comment on this! Good catch. What was your hint (the officer in the center back?)

The OFFICIAL national WW1 memorial has been in Kansas City, MO since 1926. The new memorial in D.C. pales in comparison.
Is this the video Sabaton played before their US shows in '19?

Just saw them yesterday at Nashville, this is the video. They used the abbreviated version.
Edited but yes it is the video sabaton used
The photo at 3:39 aren't American soldiers, they're Canadians.

About time and we are getting a National Gulf War Memorial in 2020
Watch the gulf war memorial will be built before the WW1 which is our forgotten war as if it never happened
Very stupid to get involved, even worse how it ended.
What is the background song called? :)
I'l ask.
World War 1 Centennial Commission Any update?
