Whenever someone suggests Minority Report or any other work from Philip K Dick my first reaction is "Did they read the seminal work"? As with so many directors before him, I don't think Mr Speilberg could be bothered or it would have been a VERY different movie. Doom was fun - racist, sexist and stupid but still fun. AI was dire and - again, an adaptation of someone who wrote far better books than the persons who adapted them.

We defiantly did not read the book, but probably to translate on screen they had to take liberties. Blade Runner was quite different from the novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep * also Philip K Dick. I can understand being slightly disappointed if you’re partial to the novel. Of course the infamous banquet scene in Doom.. And A.I … that movie deserves a full length discussion. I’m fascinated with how split viewers are on it. Personally, besides some weak designs in the middle (specifically the snatchers for the fair sequence) we think it’s a masterpiece. And maybe that was more due to the elements Kubrick brought to it beforehand.

Temple of Doom rules. Minority Report is just okay. AI sucks.
