Hassan Bhai I think your comments about Yumna’s acting are spot on. I’ve only seen her in IZN and now PKS and I’m a huge fan. She conveys so many nuanced emotions with her expressions. Her dialogue delivery is excellent and her character choice so diverse. I think she’ll go far inshallah.

It’s absolutely astounding how great you guys are at constructive criticism. No where as a viewer it is felt that you insult the actors or the projects but criticise them in a very interesting way and hasan and aamna’s dynamics in every week in/ week end review are really worth watching.

I am a Pediatric Occupational Therapist who has worked with children having a variety of School related issues. In my opinion Mehjabeen’s character does not display learning disability but a girl with Attention deficit and hyperactive (ADHD) who is unable to pay attention to her studies due to her short attention span, distractibility and impulsivity.ADHD kids are not dumb, they need to be mentally challenged otherwise they fall through the cracks. Since she knows her limitations she has resorted to get married as an escape from studies. These children are sensitive and caring of other’s needs and Mehjabeen’s character has been portrayed the same so far. As for Abdullah’ role so far his mannerism, posture, his fixation on his crush, awkwardness in social skills and genius in math skills fall under the umbrella of “Autistic Spectrum disorder”
I am excited that such subjects were picked up by the writer for public awareness as the ADHD or Autistic children and adults are not mentally deficient but intelligent in their own ways who needs specialized curriculum in Schools to assess their skills fort their productivity. Yumna Zaidi and Bilal Abbas are playing their roles phenomenally

I am a child psychiatrist working in Ireland. I am very disappointed. Why is it that our writers don’t do any research and write characters. Basically they are showing a girl with mild learning disability but saying she is a normal bubbly girl. That is disrespectful to those who have mild learning issues and hence childlike and also girls who are bubbly but of normal intelligence. Than they show a boy with all of the features of dyslexia and some autistic traits and say no he is normal and his step dad made him like this. What the hell? It doesn’t make sense and just shows our lack of understanding of why ppl struggle or why they are different. Such inconsistencies in characters only propagate stigma and ignorance that our society already has. We have no clue about mental health of young people. A boy who is a genius in maths and can’t pass languages means he has specific learning needs ( dyslexia). I wish you had asked them what is their understanding of dyslexia , mild learning disability and autism. It’s a disservice to those that have these diagnoses to use their traits and call them personality. I thought they would shed some light on social or academic struggles of such people.

Ye galat h.. ek to ap psychiatric log apne aap me extreme hote hain. Matlab banda jara sa nirmalcy se alag act kar rha that means wo mentally challange hai? What the hell? My own sister does not like math, she is brilliant in literature.. ab kya kahu dislexia hai usko? Aise log thode se nahi , bahut jyada hote hai... Mai khud math me bahut achhe hu, mujhe commerce aur biology samajh nahi aati.probably agar mai ye subject leta to fail hota rahta..

Socially awkward, genius in maths (special interest), anxiety and not being able to speak when put on the spot or when anxious, these are some of the traits of people on the autism spectrum. Autism is a spectrum condition and people on the spectrum may vary from being highly functional ( Einstein, Greta Thunberg) to non functional / non verbal. For many people on the spectrum you cant even tell as they appear very normal outwardly. There seems to be a stigma around this. Its not a mental disease, just different brain wiring! They see the world around them differently. Though some severely autistic people do unfortunately live a dependent life and they usually have many other disorders along with being autistic.

Dyslexia rather is a learning disorder in early years. But since this character is abused by the step dad, he has low self esteem, low confidence and nervousness as explained by Bilal. Yumnas character on the other hand is of low intelligence, rather dump girl. Also someone who has no interest in studies and fantasizes about becoming a bride with no realisation of responsibility in a marriage. This is a very real character,specially in lower middle class. Obviously in dramas characters are slightly exaggerated. Both the characters are very normal, and very real.

Absolutely!! Both Bilal and Yumna characters are displaying signs of Autism. They are on the most functioning end of the spectrum. Autism is not a wel understood condition in general worldwide and it’s aware in Pakistan is more limited.
Alvida Hamesha yeah i agree the abuse has a big part of what he has become or at least thats what the writer/ makers are showing as the reason for his personality ( as explained by Bilal in his interview). I also agree great portrayal by the lead actors.
