The writer in John said it was today, and eternal (john 3:36, john 6:47) eternal means never ends. the hebrews was written to the hebrews who were on tbe fence and thinking the law ruled.
The two verses in Hebrews are often used to support the myth that you can lose your salvation. However, if the verses are interpreted as figures of speech, a hypothetical situation. Also, it is written that we are sealed until the day of redemption by the eternal Holy Spirit. That's enough to settle it there. If we could lose our salvation then we, according to above interpretation of Hebrews, could never repent, after even one sin. Then why the 150 x the nt commands CHRISTIANS to repent after sinning, you couldn't repent, nor return. This is why we r exhorted not to use grace as a license to sin.

If you believe the OSAS lie then you obviously do not know God or scripture. Many overlook that God commanded us to be holy and most are not comprehending that God would have never commanded us to do something that we were incapable of doing. This is why we were also commanded to repent, which means we were to have a change of heart and turn from our evil and sinful ways to God’s holy and righteous way of living. “For I am the Lord your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves, and you shall be holy; for I am holy.” Leviticus 11:44 NKJV “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”” I Peter 1:13-16 “It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.” 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 “And Jesus answered and said to them, “Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.” Luke 13:2-3 NKJV “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14 NKJV “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways,” says the Lord God. “Repent, and turn from all your transgressions, so that iniquity will not be your ruin. Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord God. “Therefore turn and live!” Ezekiel 18:30-32 NKJV “Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Matthew 5:48 NKJV “Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14 “FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT HOLY WILL NOT SEE THE LORD” and with that particular verse being emphasized, I will now give you the definition of holy since it is obvious that very few people are grasping what being holy actually means. To be holy means to be spiritually perfect or pure, untainted by evil or sin, sinless, saintly but yet many false preachers and fake believers are relating that it is impossible for a person to stop sinning. Sinning in this lifetime is definitely a choice and I can provide one verse of scripture that will prove without a doubt that if you believe that you cannot stop sinning then you are definitely a sinful unbeliever who will suffer for all eternity. “Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”” Mark 9:23 NKJV God sent His son into this fallen world to show us that it was possible to live a holy and righteous life, and by us possessing true faith and believing in Him, Jesus would then provide us with His Holy Spirit in order to guide us and teach us how to overcome our sinful natures. Now billions may claim to believe in Jesus but most lack real faith and they fail to comprehend that their words and their actions will prove whether they truly believe in Jesus or not. Realize that the majority who claim to believe in Jesus are nothing more then deceived sinners who lack faith and knowledge and they have ignored the scriptures where God commanded us to overcome and be holy, plus most have not comprehended how God will test everyone in order to see if their faith is genuine or if it is all simply talk. So just proclaiming that you believe in Jesus Christ means very little to God and it certainly does not guarantee you God’s salvation for even wicked demons will do that much. “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,” I Peter 1:6-7 NKJV “But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” James 2:18-20 NKJV “Faith without works is dead” is not saying that you must work to earn your salvation since no one can earn their salvation because it is a free gift from God, but what it is relating is that you must prove your faith by acting upon it and living it, and if you do not prove it then you do not really believe. Any person who truly desires to search God out with all of their heart by genuinely repenting and by accepting Jesus into their life need only ask and they will receive His Holy Spirit and then be saved. Now this does not make this person any wiser about God’s word and truth though nor does it guarantee them God’s salvation since they still need to be transformed and purified into a child of God. Everyone possesses a free will, so anyone can still choose to do evil and then perish if they do not allow God’s Spirit to sanctify their heart and mind. Simply look at Judas to prove as much or read Ezekiel 18:21-24 and this is why we must learn to surrender our will to God’s Holy Spirit and allow His Spirit to change our sinful heart. (See Romans 12:1-2.) God calls this purification process sanctification but yet most believers never allow it to occur since they do not understand how to discern the voice of Jesus through testing the Spirits as commanded in 1 John 4. Most do not realize that you cannot possibly live and be guided by God’s Holy Spirit unless you understand how to hear and discern the voice of Jesus Christ. “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. I John 4:1-3 NKJV “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” John 10:27 NKJV Now if you are truly living by the Spirit then Jesus will eventually instruct you to forsake your current way of life and this may include your wealth and your unbelieving family members as well and you can never, nor will ever be a true follower of Jesus Christ unless you have done so. Do not believe me then read Matthew 10:34-39, 16:24-25, 19:21, Mark 8:34-35, Luke 9:23-24, 12:33, 14:26-33, 17:33, 18:22, John 12:25 and Acts 2:44-45. So if you have never experienced these things in your life then you certainly are not following the guidance of the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ and you are definitely someone who has been deceived by the devil and you are living a lie. Understand that faith requires action and all you need to do is read Hebrews 11 to prove as much since it reveals how people of faith overcame all of their obstacles. Realize that Abraham believed in God so much that he was willing to kill his own son in order to prove his that his faith was real, so if you are not acting upon your faith then it certainly is dead and useless and it clearly proves that you DO NOT REALLY BELIEVE. God will not remain in a sinful environment so if you resist the Spirits discipline then there is a more than likely chance that you will blaspheme the Spirit and then God’s Spirit will depart. If God’s Spirit departs then you will never get Him back and you have then lost His salvation. Why! As scripture states, you would be trying to crucify Jesus all over again and this is explained in Hebrews 6:4-8, 10:26-39, 12:3-13 and 2 Peter 2-20-22. So yes, God’s Holy Spirit will always stay with us, but for that to occur we must surrender our will to the Spirit and we must allow Him to change our sinful ways to God’s holy and righteous ways. All of this explains why anyone who falls for this ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED fallacy is a completely lost and deceived individual who is misguided in their beliefs.

Now in verse 1 a the warning is stated “unless you believe in vain”, this is telling us that some people really don’t believe it. However for the believer it is “eternal life”. Colossians 2:10-14 tells believers that they are complete in Christ (v10) and being dead are made alive (v13) that is he made the believer born again, you can find that reference in John 3:7. There are many more but once you are saved it’s forever according to the Bible.

Colossians 2:10-14 tells believers that they are complete in Christ (v10) and being dead are made alive (v13) that is he made the believer born again, you can find that reference in John 3:7. There are many more but once you are saved it’s forever according to the Bible.
