Instead of applying to the Prof for funding, apply for Brain Pool fellowship which starts from a minimum of 5 Million won per month with additional housing allowance. I have been getting the BP fellowship during my Postdoc from last one year.

Yes, because there you dont need to pay tax and insurance. Dormitory life is also little cheaper than having your own room!
