- The interviewer's annoying as hell. Seriously... If Nightwish is "Pop", then how does he classify Britney Spears? Polka?
Tuomas has perfected his "You're an idiot, but I'll do your stupid interview" look.
When the interviewer asked Anette to sing, the look in the eyes of Tuomas made me think the interviewer was not going to be alive by the end of the interview
tomas has a lot of self control...
Yes. The whole band does
I like that "Tuomas has perfected his "You're an idiot, but I'll do your stupid interview" look."... that fits perfectly!!!
Worst. Interviewer. Ever. I thought it was lovely how gracious Anette was... and hilarious how obvious it was that Tuomas is trying to hold his patience!
Exactly. I've seen bad interviews (we all have I guess) and those might have been a bit awkaward yes, but not completely rude and annoying... like this one. I'm sure Anette and Tuomas were like "uh..thank God it's over that was such an idiot..."
He did have the perfect "screw this" attitude. Calm and yet ready to strangle the interviewer. I love it.
tuomas patience and the ability to not sigh nor do some obvious facial expression is incredible...
The way Tuomas look at the interviewer is fantastic HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
The interviewer thinks Master Passion Greed is poppy? Wow. Has he ever heard of gothic metal? That subgenre has clean female vocals and gothic metal is anything but pop.
3:24 "oh God, kill me, if you have any mercy, please get me out of here". Toumas' expression was priceless...
1:30 Tuomas' face... priceless XD you can see he's barely keeping it together lol... Also Anette sang that bit pretty nicely, without warming up and all.
hahaahahaha this is the best interview with anette ever xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD I was laughing from the beginning!
Amaranth and BBB are probably Nightwish's poppiest singles, but dude, the album opens with the Poet and the Pendulum. Not very POP-EY
My god I'm laughing so hard at that interviewer! This really must be a new low, it's amazing how they kept smiling though - props for Nightwish!
Watch Tuomas smile vanish when the interviewer asks her to sing!
I noticed that the interviewer sometimes pulls the microphone away from Tuomas while he is still speaking and talks over him. But when he did the same thing to Anette (seeming accidentally this time) he made sure to let her finish what she wanted to say and gave her his full attention. There's no shame in finding someone really hot but if its your job to interview a group you need to be professional and courteous to them all. Huge respect to Tuomas though, he has been interviewed by some real jerks over the years but has always remained composed and polite
I died of laughing
They're both like "dude wtf?" through this whole thing, I love it!
"It doesnt sound like a metalalbum" HAHAHAHAHAH he is crazy as hell. But if u only listen to the female vocals, he is kind of right, Tuomas says it himself at 01:12
Lots of interviewers kind of annoy me, but omg this one's the worst one EVER xD
Don't know if I want to laugh or punch him ....
You should be laughing while punching him to be honest. That's an idiot... I mean it's fucking evident from the first moment that he can't even have a fair question and they feel uncomfortable with it yet he continues to ask bullshit and believes he's not doing it, he's so stupid he thinks he's smart... Firstly, the pop thing, secondly, the sexist comment on Anette... Look at their facial expressions... Can't imagine what went through the minds of Anette and Tuomas... extremely awkward.
Ugh,the faces Anette makes while the interviewer talks to Tuomas are perfect ;W;
100% agree about Tuomas' expression! haha!! I was waiting, like "ok... so when is this gonna spiral out of control when Tuomas decks this guy in the jaw?"
LOL @ the death stare Tuomas gave the guy when he asked Anette to sing haha.
Master Passion Greed, best song ever, so heavy
one of the heaviest songs i've heard from them
The interviewer has absolutely no idea about Metal.
He thinks that all metal is just growling and screaming, like so many people sadly do...
but there are so many beautiful genres in metal!
(Nothing against growling and screaming, I love it!!!)
I love this interview! xD
Oh my god !
That man made my day...But congratulations to Nightwish! You´ve been blessed these days:)
Watching this I was hoping he would just lay out the interviewer lol.
" it is definatly a metal album" *mega mega evils*
Go Tuomas! :D
Anette does indeed look somewhat different than usually, I can't really tell weather it's her hair or maybe the make up.. She just looks.. different. Her face looks a bit more "rounder" than usually.
And WHY does the interviewew ask her to sing?! That's just.. awful, I hate when people do that.
when the interviewer asked her to sing Toumas looked at him like "omfg"
WHAT AN ACCENT! I heard "sucksex" when he said "success"!
I love the face of Tuomas when the interviewer says :"She's good looking"
2:37
Well I've seen bad interviews but this one... It's evident from the first moment that he can't even have a fair question and they feel uncomfortable with it yet he continues to ask bullshit and believes he's not doing it, he's so stupid he thinks he's smart... Firstly, the pop thing, secondly, the sexist comment on Anette, then he's like "but.." now what? If I ask something I wait for a response and let the other person speak... Look at their facial expressions... Can't imagine what went through the minds of Anette and Tuomas...
lol!
The interview was amazing!
Anette has a very nice voice!
rofl the interviewer is hilarious, 'sounds more poppy' LOL
When he asked anette to sing....that look on Tuomas's face...LOOOOOL:D like:"SILENCE!!! I KILL YOU!!!":))))))))))))lol
*rolls on floor*
What aan idiot!
*whipes away tears of laughter*
Poor, poor Tuomas. That guy is an angel for being so polite.
Anette sings well, so out of the blue!
Im pretty sure when the interviewer said that Dark Passion Play sounds poppy Tuomas was thinking "and your accent sounds shitty"
That's why I love the music on DPP, it's exactly as you described it and I am glad I bought the limited version with the instrumental cd version of the songs in it. The music for songs like The Poet and the Pendulum, Amaranth and Meadows of Heaven are apsolutely exceptional.
haha they totatlly told the interviewer off! nightwish rules, with or without tarja!
WoW there's alot of comments here.
It's great that you all still support the band.
I remember they said the same thing about Within Temptation.
Really he said the 'The Heart of Everything' is Pop-orientated?
That album is darker than The Silent Force !! 😂😂
When they said they'll perform Amaranth, here was silence from the interviewer for a while, before asking Anette to sing it. Did he even know what he was talking about?
On a different subject - Anette sings beautifully at the end of this interview. ^^ Anyone who disagrees is officially deaf.
POPPY!??! thats practically insulting.. Anettes singing is awsome :D 5/5 love Anette and Love Nightwish \m/
wow that really shows the intelligence of the ppl that oragnises these interviews
tuomas holopainen is so damn hot *.* i love his laughing...
I think I'm gonna put subtitles on this interview and bring it to my class just to show people how NOT to make an interview!
One thing is for sure: "You can never please anybody.". When I first listened to it when it was released, I was turned off like hell. But after giving it a great spins and listens, I would say that IT IS NOT a POP album. It's a metal album with diversities! I would say the interviewer would like Anette and Tuomas be annoyed on this one. Maybe he's a Tarjaholic!?
These days I don't think Nightwish really have a genre any more. I just call them a band that makes fantastic music
Look at the Tuomas face when interviewer asks about singing Amaranth XD , he thought he had to sing and his face was suprised lol :D
hey people NEXT MONTH.... Tuomas will be answering NIGHTMAIL.. so send your questions to him! LOL! dont forget you must submit your email and a question before 10th!
"Oh, do I have to sing?"
Lovely... ^^
God bless this man who made an interview!
YES! It's "poppy"! Rocky ? ROFL!
Man, you're damn right! I were in Frankfurt yesterday too and it was the coolest thing I had since the beginning of this year! "The album sounds a bit more "poppy"" holy shit! -.-
I love the look on Tuomas' face. Like "You...you're an idiot, but okay, I'll pretend to sincerely answer these questions."
Okay thanks, I was just wondering :D
I mostly agree with you about it just being a stronger intensity because its chest voice, but in some of the earlier preformances, it was a bit of shrieking too, where you could tell it was a VERY difficult note for her to hit live.
I realy like how Tuomas said " thank you very much " at the end its like " ... yeah what ever ":D:D:D
Oh, Tuomas, you´re face expressions were great 🤣. Not a metal album... That´s the biggest joke ever! Like Tuomas said, it is! Definiteley!!!
that interviewer needs a smack. i'd love to be the one to deliver it to him.
I was literally laughing/screaming when he said that bit about the album being pop! XD
Bravo YulieAna!You said everything right.I agree! If Tarja was not member of the NW nobody knows nothing about her.She is a middle level opera singer and there is hundreds of them.Nightwish is a whole band and a great one!
Lol, I love Anette: "Was it your plan?" "Well, I got the voice from my parents, so...." -__-
(yeah the interviewer knows nothing...I loved Tuomas's responses to him, too...so matter-of-fact XD)
@MsLeviathan6 Here in the Netherlands their video for Amaranth was everyday on tv when it came out.
well, they went from sounding like epica to sounding like within temptation. It's still metal
HAHA!! This guy cracks me up.
"Yes, but it's more poppy."
"Poppy! I think you sounds like POPPY!" ARRRGH! I gonna be crazy.
annette is beautiful and down to earth.
Why do human beings have to ram everything into a category...."pop"...."metal"? Who cares....Nightwish just create beautiful, powerful music.
'if thats not metal, what is?'
he's sooo right!
Hahah Tuomas's face was ace when the word "pop" was uttered. Hahahah. NW are fucking metal and bloody good!
haha holy shit the tension in this interview is killing me. it's almost like tuomas could punch the stupid interviewer any moment.
Nigthwish was popular before Annette joined the band and Dark Passion Play was released. They were on t.v. doing interviews and whatnot even when Tarja was still part of the band. Hell, "Wish I Had an Angel" was on the soundtrack to an American horror movie ("Alone in the Dark)". That means Nightwish was always "pop" even before Annette.
I wish I was as calm as tuomas
lmaooo he goes from like :) to like -_- in a split second.
Maybe Nightwish wouldn't have been pop-music twenty years ago, but today regardless of being metal or not, this stuff is popular music. It is popular, it is what one would call 'easy listening' and it isn't that 'heavy'.
Not that there is anything wrong with it either...
I agree with you. Amaranth is not pop, but it is not so metal, but the album as a whole is magnificent... Poet is.. breathtaking. The music of the WHOLE ALBUM is so much better than before, IMO, I think Tuomas has grown as a musician a lot and that Anette is doing an amazing job =)
XD u can see how pissed tuomus looks
LMFAO, good interview, nice questions
Anette + Tuomas........You two did sowell to keep it together in this interveiw, if i was being interviewed by him id have just slapped him and walked off.
LOVE YOU ANETTE!!!!
LOVE YOU TUOMAS!!!!
AWKWARD!!
OHH MY GOD ROFLMAO this is the most hysterical comment i have heard on this video.. BRAVO!
interviewer: the album sounds kind more pop oriented, was that your plan?
Tuomas: why you little!@ (starts strangling the interviewer)
Anette: Toumas NOOOO!!!!!
Tuomas: grunting (you son of a bit...)
Interviewer: Gagging
The guy is hillarious! He's obviously provoking Tuomas! He's playing the funny guy
The interviewer: What are you sinking about?
I remember an interview with Helloween he did a long time ago, back then he also asked stupid shit and asked them to sing in the end... the singer Michael Kiske wasn't even there...
ha ha at 1:40 Tuomas face is like WTF YOU ALREADY ASKED ME THAT YOU IDIOT and at 1:56 he's like LORD give me STRENGTH
to an extent, I agree with you. I still really like her voice though. the vabrato was crazy to me at first, but I got used to it a little and came to really like it. and it DOES add a lot of drama to her voice, which is very characteristic of her. if I were to describe Tarja's style in one word, it would be "dramatic," and thats why I say that her vabrato is part of her style. and she doesnt use the heavy vabrato EVERYWHERE.
First half of interview-
"It's a pop album"
"No, it's a metal album."
"So it's a pop album."
That interviewer made me laugh. I want to see him interview a death metal band just to see what would he would say.
i was at their concert! personally, I LUVED IT! she does sound unusual not in a bad way maybe cause i luv her and NW?
Ahh, the look on Tuomas' face is absolutely priceless. I laughed so hard. Stupid interviewer.
Listen guys, the kind of music in Germany is very heavy. To them, this is poppy music. It is lighter than their previous stuff.
Nightwish only sounds pop to metalheads, to most people it is metal. Proof in point, I played Whoever Beings The Night to my non metalhead indie loving friend and he actually heard angry noise.
tuomas looks just sooooo pissed haha
When the interviewer ask Anette to sing Tuomas looked him with the look"WTF I'm going too kill him"and then his head is spinning up and down,he smiles and then he looks down just to prevent kicking his ass.
i love tuomos face at the singing part
I WOULD LUV TO!
Nightwish Pop? Ha! In his dreams! Nightwish is definitely metal. Always will be!
@Annika558 i agree with you! So much!!
well handled Tuomos and Anette, If it was me i would have stuck that microphone.......
the notes sharon hits ARE within her vocal range. shes a soprano. and she doesn't shriek on the higher notes more than she does on the middle ones, its just more obvious. i wouldnt even consider it "shrieking." she sometimes drawls her notes out from high to slightly lower, but its a stylistic touch that she does intentionally, much the same way Anette sometimes uses what I call "hiccups" stylistically. sharon doesnt NEED the drawl and Anette doesn't NEED the hiccup, but its part of their style
