  • Sweaty window FIX' NEVER TRY THIS OR ANYTHING I DO ANYWHERE! Glass and or compressed gasses can and WILL kill you if it gets a chance, its a whole lot easier to just call the guy, I'm just too cheap, I'm looking for free glass to repair others as we speak, some time the glass can not be cleaned due to years of sweating and calcium buildup, the cost I referred to was the savings, I looked for a free bottle (any size) to trade in for a full one, the gas costs about 25 bucks and will fill every window project you will have for years and years, I have filled 10 large windows with this little tank and it still has 1200 lbs pressure left, when doing this keep in a cool dry place never put your drying window in the sun for you will get gasses building up from the silicone making you start over, be careful with anything you do specially your own inventions, for some reason Alaska loves my videos, maybe because they are do it your self'rs and remote. invent on'

Great video. I’m going to give this a go. What type is the secondary regulator? Also how long have you found this repair to last? I have a lot of sealed units so this will definitely help. I’ve found Butyl tape/compound helps as it stays pliable.

How do you plug/cap off the argon fill hole and the hole at top where the argon exits to the candle without or minimizing loss of gas? I didn't catch that (and apologies if it's in the video and I didn't hear/see it? Thank you, kindly.

You plug the top exhaust first because Argon is “spilling” over.
You plug the bottom hole last because there is no atmospheric pressure in the glazing to push it out. Therefore argon stays in place.
Like the “magic trick” if you have a hole at the top and bottom of a bottle. If you cover the top with your finger, water won’t come out at the bottom.

Instead of trying to jug rig a filter for the argon gas that is open to the atmosphere and will be holding moisture with in the towels or rags. Use a desiccant line dryer filter for refrigeration R410a. Should be able to get from refrigerant wholesalers. I have more confidence with that.
    Argon gas is argon gas

Hi, this is a great set up-super smart. Looks like you're using an inflation needle attached to the hose, right? How did you fit this? A hose clamp?

Just found your video, thank you so much for sharing! Have to reseal my rv windows. My only question is, when the window is full and the candle goes out how do you plug that hole?

I just bought all this stuff and spent 3 days doing this and my windows are still fogged up plus the rest of my windows from my house because I thought they needed a refill

why is argon used? To replace the air? does it have any insulation feature?

    • @organisespace9347

argon insulates but replacing air (just normal air) is important becoase air will contain moiture which will fog the windows.

there is no difference in farmaceutical and industrial gas, the difference is in the gas container/hygiene

just a couple things. First, the towel idea doesn't purify, it 'might' dry the gas a little, but it does nothing to remove contaminants. Welding argon often has carbon dioxide in the tank... that can be removed as well but not without some chemistry.
Second, there are replacement gaskets for these double pane inserts. I think a simpler way might be to use something like "flex seal" sealant. Don't use the flex paste or anything too viscous since you want it to penetrate the gaps to seal the leak that caused the condensation in the first place. To determine if you have it properly sealed, use a monometer (easy to jerry rig with some clear vinyl) and put the inside of the window under VERY LITTLE NEGATIVE PRESSURE. If it holds over night, fill the window with DRY argon and seal it up. That will be a very durable fix. (dry argon - use a desiccant like silica gel in the line of the argon fill)

Where do you get dry argon from?

    • @nitrousman8882

@@jasonbuda2813 dry argon: “just pass the argon gas through a desiccant ie silica gel or molecular sieve.”

You could probably bake Epson salt to get as much moisture out as you can. Then pit that in the line.

Unless waste of time doing this, the units will fog up again in no time.
Buy new duel sealed low e argon filled units from a decent manufacturer, and stop waisting time and money
