- Anna Maria Island is the barrier island between Bradenton, Fl and the Gulf of Mexico. Hurricane Helene passed as a category 3 hurricane with the East eyewall at an estimated 80 miles West of the Island. It delivered a significant storm surge that washed across the entire landmass of Anna Maria Island leaving damaged structures and destroyed vehicles in its wake. This video is footage from first entrance of Anna Maria Island the following day.

Thanks to Jesse for making the intro and graphic for us to enjoy!!
More power to you for assisting where you can.
My observation here in Australia is that following such devestation, tradespeople are required to assist as devastated families need so much to get things going again.
Lauren said earlier that she had family on that island.
I, for one, from far away , thank you for your support of those in need.
bloody oath mate.we ANZACS do what we can like this legend.
Totally agree with your comment from another Aussie. Hope everyone was safe.
Tastefully done. Moral support.
Lauren told us yesterday the basic details of the island and said you may be offline for a couple of days. we understand. best wishes, Ray.
Please don't turn the video off because of a few bad elements. The people you help far outweigh the people that complain. You are a good person, never forget that. Stay well, and a swift recovery to all!
Thanks for being human and not an ordinary UA-camr. You always keep it real. Glad you are all safe. The images are devastating.
Hey Ray, watching you from Australia, so glad your family and extended family are ok.
Thank you for this video
Ray, you done good. I'm in Tallahassee, and I keep telling myself with every storm, "this is the price we pay to live in paradise" (even though I don't live near the beach.) "Paradise" to a former Michigander = darn little snow in winter. Y'all stay safe down there...keep your eyes to the skies because it ain' over til December 1st, if we're lucky/blessed.
Yes, he did, And its sad he had to preface the video with anti-troll explanations. That such people even exist is sad.
I live just north of you in T'ville. 50 years living in this area and this one was the first time I evacuated. I was lucky with just a few branches on the ground. Only 10 inches of rain at my house, which isn't too bad. Lots of trees down around here including some oak trees that were 200+ years old. I'm sure it's worse east of here.
Lauren said you'd be off doing things for a few days due to the weather event you've had over there. This is much better than seeing it on the news as this is from your perspective and shows what it's really like over there. Take as much time as you need during this crisis. Oh and glad that you and your family are ok. Catch you when you've recuperated from this.
You went over, got your objective and helped some folk out. More than you realise with shifting that palm to open the roadway. Done a good!
I'm in Sarasota, Florida at 40' elevation...! I couldn't imagine living at 3-6' elevation which is what our barrier islands elevation is...!!! They're called barrier islands for a reason...!!! Thanks for sharing...! Keep up your awesomeness...!
Hi Ray, I am from Brisbane, Australia. Thank you for showing what your people have gone through with the hurricane. Please accept my sincere sympathy and wish you well through these difficult days.Ed.
I am also from Brisbane, Australia and was in the position to help clean up my mum's cousins home at Chelmer after the 1974 floods. At her Chelmer home the water came up to the tops of the windows and deposited about three inches of smelly mud on everything. It took about a week to hose out much of the mud.
Some of the household items like refrigerators and even the tv could be saved by hosing out the mud and left to dry out completely before turning on.
Also from Brissy aus. Sorry Brother this is happening to you all. Stay strong God Bless
From Rays area as well. I love Brisbane. Went diving off of Lady Elliot years ago. Got thrown out of a lawn bowling club for improper attire. 😂
Also from Brisbane. Thank you ray for your help and support to the area you once lived. I’m sure the community there are very grateful for your help and support. You are 1 in a million mate and one good deed deserves another. Stay safe and sending all my prayers to everyone effective by Helene.
Signs you might see in Florida: "Water on Road," "Sand on Road," "Trees on Road," "Road on Road." No joke.
And signs that gators and snakes could be in/near lakes
Sadly amazing and done with the utmost respect. Thanks' Ray for bringing this to the world.
You hear about major storms and know the damage they cause, but when you see it from the perspective of someone on the ground just trying to navigate the area everything is recontextualized. I can't even begin to imagine the amount of time, effort, planning and bureaucracy that will be required to return this place to the way it was before.
Thanks Ray. Watched the wife unit earlier.
Haters are going to hate. If you are not doing for them and you do for FAMILY AND FRIENDS, they don't give a good rat's ass. i will do for Family and friends BEFORE I do for others.
That's horrible. I live in Ft Myers inland far enough to have avoided damage, but our beach and barrier islands got rocked by surge as well. Ray, be sure to rinse the underside of your truck really well after driving through all that salt water.
The cup survived
The guys riding in the back ended up smashing it, but it still survived somehow. Unbelievable
Yep 👍
Australia is always with our American mates, I hope you dry out quickly and return to a new normal asap. Your resilience is an inspiration. ❤❤❤
I'm just relieved that you and your family survived and your home wasn't destroyed. I don't even know you except for your videos yet I was thinking about you during the storm!
Ray I'm in Australia and when I saw it heading to Florida, I immediately thought of you guys and your families. It's a terrible thing to have to live through. Fortunately we don't get anywhere near the amount of severe storms that you guys get in the hurricane belt it seems. Nor the tornadoes up Ohio way. I hope everyone is safe and well. All the best, it looks terrible. One thing we do know here is massive flooding along the eastern states. I've seen that first hand a few times. You stay safe too as this amount of stagnate waters breeds many mosquitoes which I'm sure you are very aware of. It was great to see your business you have put so much effort, time and money into over the past nearly 2 years. I remember the last time you were boarding up your house and getting reserve power ready. You were and are very well organised. Wishing you well again hope the friends and family are ok.
On a lighter note Rays hurricane cup is still on the back of his truck! Laying over but still there!
This is sad to see.
Awesome that you helped out. Hope your family are safe and sound. Watching from Queensland Australia
Im up in Atlanta Ga Ray. We were spared a direct hit, but have a lot of tree damage, luckily we only lost power in my subdivision for 32 hours and no real damage on my street. My daughter is in South Ga and got the eye. They estimate the power will not be restored within a month.
Hi Ray. We are watching this video from here in Wales and have nothing but respect and admiration for you. Your kindness in helping others in their hour of need is absolutely amazing. You are a true gentleman
You just uploaded this 14 minutes ago eastern time zone?
It's 3:30am.
Go to bed Ray.
Can’t sleep right now….
@RainmanRaysRepairs
I don't know where you get the energy.
I just now settled into bed and it's 12:46am out here in Cali.
@@michiganborn8303 1 am for me in Clovis CA. I'm going to bed. Night everybody
@@RainmanRaysRepairs that fair given what's going on, it's hard to switch off amidst the chaos.
Keep up the great work Ray, you're making a huge difference out there! It might not feel like a lot overall, but for those that you do help, it's a big deal!
I'm not particularly familiar with severe storm damage, but here in Australia we usually get pretty nasty wildfires (or bushfires as we call them) during the warmer months, so I completely understand the being awake
That storm surge must have been pretty bad. I grew up in Largo by St Pete and Punta Gorda. I'm going to go down to the northern areas that really got slammed. Took us 3 years to clean up in Port Charlotte after Charlie. Oh well, whatever it takes. We will do what we always do. Wow that's Anna Maria Island by Bradenton. I'm glad you and the family are ok. And the home and business. In my 67 years I have lived through a few nastys. Will be gathering a crew to help. God Bless. The east coast people are not the same. That's for sure.
Seeing what mother nature can do is just so humbling
Ray, you’re a true humanitarian. This brings back memories when we lived through Ice Storm 1998 here in Eastern Ontario. Our power was off for over 3 weeks, huge damage to the power grid infrastructure, property and thousands upon thousands of trees destroyed. God Bless you and your family.
Thank you From Denmark, angels is stil there, thank you for helping your next.
Hi Ray, Watching From NZ, next to those Aussie people. You did good as we say down here.
Very pleased you and Lauren and children are safe. Sad about your old area. God bless from Australia.
Watching from New Zealand, love all you do mate.
Best wishes to you, your family and all the people affected by this storm
Sheesh that’s a lot of damage, hopefully everyone you know is doing alright.
Hopefully you gave your truck a wash after so it doesn’t rust really badly.
Hope all gets better. Big Ups to you and your Family. Thinking about you guys from little ol NZ
It's so sad to see such devastation. It's hard to comprehend something like this and I feel so sorry for all the poor people that have lost so much. Our thoughts are with you all
followed the live streams from Australia when it made land fall. Very scary!!. Best wishes to all!
I'm happy for you and your family that everyone is safe. It's so sad to see all of the damage .
That skid steer of Ray's will definitely be needed there for a few months.
What a mess, respectful vid. 👍🏻👍🏻
From México City, I totally understand these images, All the best for you, your family and comunity.
WOW. Last year we stayed right where that big green dumpster was in the middle of the road. Thanks for posting. We’ll be back.
For all those that were killed, God bless them.
It certainly looks devastating, must help each other. Good luck Ray and family
Thank you Ray for sharing this and giving people a real idea about the damage there. Kudos for helping out all the people that you did. You have a tremendous heart.
This is part of living on the edge of the ocean. I live inland so I don’t get to experience this.
Think there is a way to turn comments off and still leave the video up. 👍
So good of you to help out. Keep up the good work and we have your back.
Wish you the best❤❤❤my heart is with you and your family and friends
Dignified citizen journalism.
God bless you and all Floridians❤️🙌
Know that you are appreciated. 19:13 The Tesla under the sand is totaled, no? Not just because of the sand, but the surge had to be higher? Similar to a flood?
every vehicle there is totaled
@@morganwyatt8165 I’m aware of that. Just curious about all the hoopla about EV’s. I’m not a fan of them in the slightest.✌️
Ray, have no idea the geography of Florida apart from knowing that you didn't get directly hit,I'm from Aussie land, but brother what Ur doing is incredible. I'm usually not one for the natural disaster videos and love Ur repair content, however this genuinely made me cry, seeing all these peoples homes devastated is just something I'm not equipped for. Ray, what you did to help these poor people gives me even greater respect for you and your character. No only did you give me the confidence to work on my own car, but now U give us the human aspect of what a lovely and caring person you are... These people will remember the helping hand you gave them and will remember what you did. I know I will..... Power to you brother! I'd never expect a reply as your too busy but just know I think U are an awesome person and an awesome mechanic! Love from Andy from Aus
P.s. if there's anything financially I can do for you and your family, inc wife units family, just let me know
Got to love mother natures 'redecorating.' Having seen/lived through Hurricane Betsy, September 8-9, 1965, Hurricane Camille, August 17-19, 1969, and Hurricane Katrina August 29, 2005 that came through Mississippi. Thank you for having done a tasteful review and for helping those you could in need.
I'm always amazed at human resilience in the face of catastrophic events. Thank you for sharing your personal experience with us.
Thankyou Ray from Australia for showing us the aftermath, wow words cant describe what I'm seeing. Hope family and friends made it through this horrific storm.
All the sand is unbelievable, good onya Ray for assisting those people, hope your family is going to be ok mate. Aussie Graham.
Dangit! To see everything so apocalyptic, to think a flat tire would mean you're stuck on your own... Stay safe people
Storm Serge is nasty business! I delivered disaster supplies after Hugo..... and Katrina in New Orleans.
Glad you're OK! I've got friends in Ashville NC, they called the destruction biblical....
So much damage, so many lives impacted. You guys look after each other Best wishes from Australia
We have very heavy rain here in England causing flooding too but not as bad as you have.keep strong 🇬🇧🇺🇲👍
watching from Australia, so happy your family and extended family are doing good love to all
That is just wild. It goes to show that you just can't mess around with mother nature. Just WOW!
Thank you for sharing, I lived near there for years. Wow…
Obviously a nice area until the hurricane comes through
Just glad you’re ok and most people there!!!!!!
Thank you for the help you've given.
Don't worry about the haters and once again OPINIONS are like ASSHOLES everyone has one. Stay safe Ray. See you again soon. Be safe man
And they’re all full of crap too. 😂. Just like arseholes.
I’d give your comment all the likes if I could!
Definitely stay safe and keep the help happening ray.
wow just wow thanks for sharing
Quite interested. Thanks Ray. If it's okay, let me mention The Red Cross for donations. I'll understand if you want to delete my comment.
Lots of nails in car tires after hurricanes, my aunt had the Marco Polo Pizza place there 18 yrs, everyone got 4 ft of water in their places I wonder if the Publix was ok?
Stay strong Ray. You're a good man. I've got family in Florida that I'm worried about too. My parents in Central Florida and my sister who lives near Tampa.
Ray, I hope your family and loved ones survived the storm uninjured. I lived in NYC when Hurricane Sandy hit us. Ground level parking garages under apartment buildings in Coney Island were filled with 6, 8, or more feet of beach sand - cars completely buried! We know how to deal with 36" blizzards, but sand and flooding crippled us. 😢
Stay safe!
You. Made. A. Difference. There were things you could do, people you saw you could help, and you did. Aside of your own reasons for being there. Seeing it like that, unfiltered, naked and raw really hammers home just how devastating this must be. It probably don't mean much, coming from one guy in England, but I'm proud of you, Ray!
Arrived as tourist in Rarotonga (Cook Islands in South Pacific) two days after the passing of a major cyclone. The devastion there was mute evidence of the sheer power of cyclones. But the people there were still charming and welcoming and did everything they could to make our trip enjoyable despite the damage and disruption. A very humbling experience.
It is good to see that Florida has the same spirit of getting on with life and not giving in to extremely difficult circumstances..
Thoughts and best wishes from down under Ray. Hope you and family get through it relatively unharmed. 🍻🍻🇦🇺🍻🍻
Excrements in comments? "nihil novum sub sole", this is UA-cam. 2000 years ago Romans quoted "homo homini lupus est". Another method is to switch comments off.
As an Excavator owner, I would think you would wear out a few excavator buckets removing all that sand. Best of luck with the clean-up, hope you wash that salt water off your car. We have had a few rainwater floods in UK, with houses and cars submerged, but not much wind damage.
Hi Ray We survived up in Gainesville here the eye missed us by about 90 miles. The lord was watching out for us because we had one blip in power and internet the whole time. The back yard is a mess but no damage thank God! It's rare to see you at a loss for words but believe me brother I understand. I'm sorry you feel you needed to explain yourself to the trolls but I understand, now is not the time for argument , it is the time to take action. I'm glad you and the Wife unit are safe and sound. I'm praying for you and everyone else whos lives have been turned upside down. God bless you all and stay grateful and humble. Much respect Mr Rainman, you have taught me a lot. I look forward to your gleeful return to the shop when things are sorted. :)
It must be awful to drive through water "from memory" because the roads are flooded.
Folks will need a lot of help setting everything up.
The craftsmen will have their hands full.
Glad everyone is okay, I still remember my first year after moving to France, A hurricane came through leaving us with no electricity for four days, luckily we still had gas to cook with as it’s a rural part of France we use bottled gas. But had to go to the farm for water as ours was pumped from an under ground stream.
ai..ray..feel for you..was waiting for your update, thankyou for showing us...thidney australia
I didn't have enough time to watch the entire video, sorry.
But I just wanted to say thank you for any and all assistance you have given.
Those Teslas are ticking time bombs. Salt intrusion into the batteries have caused some major fires that can't be easily be extinguished!
I hope that everyone you came across and your personal familiy in the areas are all okay and able to make it through whatever may be happening.
Thank you Ray for sharing this, prayers for all who were affected
Thank you from all of us who have spent alot of time on the Island. Stay strong! God Bless!
Really enjoyed how you included that clip. It was perfect.

What clip, or do you mean magazine?
Thanks Ray for your video, Keep you and your family safe. Rob UK
family first, viewers second, trolls last. you doo all that you can to help.
The hurricane brought all the sand to the yard, it's wind is better than yours.
Sand driving mastery, plus helping anyone in need... Good on you Ray.
no need for commentary. video is speaking volumes. God speed.
Positive energies to you, your family and any extended family.
Wishing all those affected a quick recovery.
Glad everyone is ok, materials can be replaced.
Stay safe.
Also , hope that all your all of your family are safe
Good job helping your fellow humans dude.
