Hi Molly and Stacey, new subscriber here. Just wanted to say how much I appreciate your videos documenting your walk to Santiago. Loved how you uploaded in daily segments instead of everything at one go. I'm commenting now because I was surprised to see that grandma doling out crepes for €. There's a camino blog from 10 years ago that described such a woman in Galicia. If she's the one and the same....that's a lot of crepes! 😄
Really enjoying all of your Camino Frances videos.Just like being on the trail every day, the weather you encountered is a planning factor for my trip. I plan to walk the Frances beginning September 2025 and using your videos for reference. Question: did you check your packs with your airline or were you able to bring them as carry ons. Thanks, and I'll be looking at your packing video again soon.
I’m so glad that you are enjoying our videos. We carried our packs onto the plane, but we did check a small disposable duffel with our trekking poles, umbrellas, outer layers (for padding), and toiletries in it.
We also stayed in the Atrio in 2019. We had a room for 3 with private bathroom. Best room on the entire Frances. Also had a superb Pellegrino menu at a nearby restaurant. Thanks for the memories.
Incredible.. you are probably accurate on the contents of the muddy walkway too ;-) I hope if I ever hike it that I get to hike with someone with a good sense of humor and positive attitude like you. Really great vid I love the hilly sections, smaller trails and hillsides!
@@staceyandmollypilgrims Would be cool if I only had that kind of vaca time, I would enjoy that. .. been watching because a dear friend is over there doing it and at same spot as your day 29.. geez it sure is tempting if I had the time. I do hike in the white mountains here in NH and prefer autumn.
Really enjoying all your Camino videos. Have walked several. So sorry the weather was ugly on this day. It’s one of my favorite stages with stunning views over miles of Galicia and so many animals and great walking paths. Always feel like I could walk forever on that stage! Can’t make this experience up! Buen Camino 😎❤️🥾
I agree that it felt like we could have walked further that day. At least, it did for energy level. The weather deteriorated shortly after we got to Triacastela, so I guess I'm glad we didn't walk in that deluge.
2:29 I kind of love those grubby muddy streets that show the countryside and small farming have been preserved. This is one stretch where, if I recall correctly, I walked same stretch as you ... Saturday 25-IX-2004. Yes, I did.
@@hglundahl My feet were so sore by this point that I stepped on a few cow Pattie’s for softness. Since it was raining, it was washed off my shoes pretty quickly.
@@staceyandmollypilgrims I think there was some point in my making shorter day journeys than you, ladies. You seem to have a somewhat masochistic streak ...
@@hglundahl You have finally figured me out! We were limited on days and wanted to make it to Finisterre, so we pushed ourselves. We did enjoy that part of it though - especially Molly.
Another beautiful video! Even with the rain as you said it's wonderful! The Albergue is amazing... Counting down the days until my first Camino. September here I come. Our first day of walking will be September 7th. We will be doing the Camino Françes.
14:15 It can also be mentioned, every Albergue with actual roof, I slept in bunk rooms, as far as I recall. That's the word for rooms with several beds on side, right?
Yes. Bunk room. When Molly is older, maybe we will do it again in bunk rooms. Actually, she'll probably do that with her friends one day. I'll still stay in a private room so that I can sleep.
I have been following the whole process and looking forward for when you get to Sarria. I recently found out I'm pregnant and suddenly have this call to hike it from that point with a baby (insert sweat emoji haha). So who knows! Thank you for sharing your journey!
That is awesome! I definitely think you can do it, although your stages might be shorter. Please let us know how it went when you are done. Buen Camino!
13:14 I was staying in the open field, it was a hot day, and I stayed all of the Lord's Day 26.IX.2004 too ... Others staying were supporting and one girl from - Australia? England? US? - gave me a book I had been lending from her. Ah - The Botany of Desire, by Michael Pollan. In depth analyses of apples, tulips, hashish and potatoes.
Since I binge watched all your other videos....Monday's seem to take forever to get here! I have to wait!! Wondering if Molly has changed her mind and is now thinking of getting a cow instead of a cat??! It would be a more interesting pet, for sure!
Oh wow!! Despite the rain, (I think the first time I've seen you both in 'wet gear') you have captured the beauty of the region wonderfully!!! It looks amazing!! Loved the walk with the cows. The Albergue .. gorgeous. Oh, I can't wait!! Question Stacey ... did you have waterproof pants?? I can't decide whether to take these or not. I'm leaning towards not .. just a waterproof jacket. Love, love, love your weekly videos ... what will I do when it ends??? Bahahahaha 🤣🤣
Yes, I did wear waterproof pants. For my bottom half, I only took two pair of shorts and my rain pants, so I wore them for warmth most of the last third of the walk. I actually love my rain pants. They are really comfortable and work in many temps. Molly likes the umbrella for rain, but I prefer a rain jacket and pants. Neither of us was a fan of the poncho.
5:39 I found your comment culturally insensitive to the offer of crepes by the old lady. She is a lady struggling to provide for herself while we walk past her home or town in our expensive gear. The video clip looked to me like there was a communication problem. The gift of food on the Camino from less fortunate, is a blessing, that must be appreciated with understanding & connections. We are their guests in their roads & backyards.
Thanks for your comment. My husband's family are from two Gallego villages almost on the Camino, and I have visited there every summer since 1989. So, I am fairly familiar with and deeply appreciate the culture of this area. I also speak Spanish and some Gallego. This was our second Camino (we hiked part of the Norte and the Primitivo in 2021), and people of all ages (including older women, who were the most common to give) have given us food many times. This was the first time that anyone ever asked us to pay for it, and I think it is fair to let people know that it could happen. That's why I included that information. Buen Camino.

Welcome to the channel! I wonder if it is the same woman? A lot of pilgrims walk past there, so she could probably support herself doing that.
