when i trialed Apache i was so interested marking the targets in TSD because snaps the TADS right into the area. also i drew Fire zones and no fire zones or the types of zones for fun. pretty much only added target points and other marks to remember me about the threat. i only added fire zones if i wanted specific place to fire at. i would say spending time with marking everything is more interesting than engagements itself. in long shot it helped me to navigate without switching to F10 view

I had a pretty simple mission idea from the Tom Clancy novel “The Bear and The Dragon”, chapter 55. If you’ve done this one before, then just ignore this. In the chapter, 30 Chinese J-8 (MiG-21’s) attempt to take out an American AWACS. 15 J-8’s try to slip past the four American F-15c (air-to-air setup) screen while the other 15 J-8’s try to tie up the F-15’s. It says the F-15c’s are loaded with 4 sidewinders and 8 AMRAAMs, but this might not be possible for the F-15c, I’m not sure. There are some F-16’s in the area, but they are loaded with HARM’s and bombs, and I’m assuming some sidewinders.
The Americans end up saving the AWACS, but barely, and lose 2 F-15’s in the fight. I am suspicious about the F-15c load-out as mentioned above. Either way, I think it’s a fun exercise and people can respawn in F-16’s if they get taken out in their F-15’s, but heavy with bombs and only a couple of sidewinders. I know you’ve done plenty of similar missions before, but just wanted to throw it out there.

Can AI wingmans use it?
Ka-50 similar(not very lol) functional was aviable for AIs at least to the level of sending targets to them, and ability to command to find targets in N kilometers ahead and sending them back to you (never works for me 4somereasons)
yes, except you have to lase the range of target so it doesn't mark the location miles off target. then you select enemy type first. if it's an armor (APC, tank,IFV) or Air defence (MANPADS, SAM, AA or AAA) site, they have own symbol for it if it's something else than armor or air defence like infantry, truck or building, select other, then you press who do you want to send (depending on size of the squadron) if your friend is the commander aircraft (flight lead) you press one and two if your id number is set to two. then selecting your own number will store it to your datalink (1 is reserved for leader) then lastly you hit Send/MEM and your friend should receive flashing amber light on Datalink panel and system say "Check Ekran" (ekran is the thing that shows failure, caution messages and numbers) hope this helps.
