You're totally not crazy. The way the parents are portrayed is suuuper toxic and in some cases downright emotionally abusive. It's one of the main things that takes the fun out of the game for me because it's presented like they're just "well meaning, slightly overbearing" parents and- Yeah, it's just not it. I'm so glad you pointed it out.

It's funny, my little one's nickname is Bun or Bunbun. We used the bun in the oven saying when I was pregnant and then when she was a teeny tiny little baby I would call her "my little bun out of the oven" and it just stuck lol. She's a teen now and still goes by Bun or Bunbun 😅

So fun to watch! It's a pity that the gameplay and writing makes the parents seem so judgemental and overbearing at times.
the parents are insanely strict & weirdly written in this game, i don't get it, it feels like they hate their own kid and are super harsh on them lmfao, it's especially odd when you're playing the next gen & it's your old MC and their partner suddenly being so stuffy and judgey xD i get that the devs needed to do that to give your MC 'quests' from the parents but they could've written it to be less... intense?? i dunno!
I would love more of this every once in a while! Sometimes it's nice to just go back to a familiar game and vibe :)
This game reminds me of “I was a teenage exocolonist” because of the whole growing up and getting different jobs.
I love this game. I need dlc. I need more character variety. I need generations, familial wealth, etcetera
I really hope you play more of this, it's really good for listening to or playing in the background! Really all of your content is perfect for that, but this kind of super long chill video is my favourite :)

I don’t know he would be playing as Alex‘s child instead of the last main characters, but this did make it interesting😂.
Me re-watching this I just noticed he said in his last played through he thought he’d been a painter, and I was so sad because his job last time was a vet which I thought was so cute. and then becoming a veterinarian again and ended up with a wife instead of a husband again lol 😂.

I liked this game, but I played a dozen plus lives and ended up at radio shack all but 1 time
I love that we got a slightly different ending this time. The dialogue was slightly different for the final exam as well! I would have loved to see a continuation with the little boy in the end, as we haven’t seen a play through with a boy yet.

@@meiskavedrine9986 I got it too and its really fun. One thing I do have to say though, is that sometimes the characters can get a little repetitive. Especially if you play it in a marathon.
This games morals are so squewed :( i can get how watching cartoons all day will make your parents less proud, but id be happy to see my kids watching stuff that is teaching them about life and themselves. And id be so proud to see my kid making a blanket fort! Their being a little arcutect, figuring out how to build with the things available to them! Thats not something to be ashamed of! If anything it gives you a chance to join them and teach them a thing or two. I know i know, im thinking too deeply about this lol.

Same as a few others, this was originally one of my first playthroughs of yours I caught and that got me to subscribe. Also thought UA-cam was recommending it to me again and then was like "you know what? I DO miss that playthrough" and then saw you just uploaded it and realized it was a new playthrough! What a treat! 🤗💙
Those parenting skills: Great way to get your kid stress eating, have low self esteem and get stuck in a spiral towards even worse health.
Not that i value toys over my friendships, but idk if i wanna be friends with a theif. Its one thing to have a friend that takes your things and tells you about it, making it not really stealing cuz youd have to either allow them or stop them at that point, its another for them to take your things and never come forward about it. And if they take one of your toys and get away with it, whats to stop them from taking more from you?

I think you have to balance the things you are doing. Like do 6 unique things in your schedule every turn. I think a lot of games these days teach people about balancing their time and expectations. But I'm not to sure. You got the career you were going for in the end, so maybe it dosent matter to much. I would love to see more of this game!

I played it to the end, but never got how the exams worked. My character ended school in a mental depression, never got married and I failed the game. No need to play it again, it was not as much fun as I hoped. Won ever battle (brain map), but lost the war (exams).

Chinese Parents is great - much more involved than this game, it takes several generations to be able to truly succeed. You can do it as a computer game or a mobile game.

Honestly...Richard deserved to be told off. He put all his emotional hang ups on Bun and couldn’t even consider her feelings long enough to see why he upset her.
They were my parents minus vacation and add in moms drugs abuse and dads alcoholism. I am a survivor. Wee bit ptsd there. This game had horrible parental encouragement. How not to be as a parent.
