Thanks a lot for posting this! This is my favourite ambient sound of all time. I owned the vinyl version back in the 1970s and have tried in vain to find it again, until now! Fellow listeners take note: This is synthetic silence, and is designed to be played very, very, quietly.

I don't think that this is synthesized. From the Syntonics website entry on this album:
"'English Meadow' was recorded in Wilmington, Sussex in the UK near the famous Long Man of Wilmington drawing."

Thank you for posting this. Do you have any knowledge of how this album differs from the Environments disc 9 b-side? They gave that the same title, but also called it "synthetic silence."
