Hey this video sent loads of emotions to my head, I started crying while listening to this I'm not sure but it's that good I think you should go further with this career 😅
To call this impressive is an understatement big enough to fly a 747 though. I am in awe of such an intricate, masterful performance. I have heard Pachelbel's Cannon done in many ways, but this, hands down is one of the most beautiful.
Impressive performance on a difficult to manage instrument, yes. A nice choice of song to showcase the instrument, yes. But the glass harp is too harsh for the most beautiful rendition of the song. I believe that honor is more closely approached by the London Symphony Orchestra. Posted by schmobot, I believe.
This brings back the vivid memories of me and my older brother (RIP) serving as Alter Boys in the Catholic Church during Midnight Mass on Christmas. Oh how I miss my older brother.
Same. I got thru watching Fur Elise and thought I'd see if anyone had done "Canon in D" on glass harp. First video was here. Back to the same artist I had just watched. Absolutely incredible talent. I hit subscribe already. :)
Well Mr. Tisso THOUSANDS of people LOVE your music, so do not be discouraged my friend. You fans in every country on earth who come to your UA-cam Channel to watch you play this beautiful instrument.
This is a truly unique and beautiful rendition of Canon in D. Just listening to it made me feel centered and relaxed. The world is fortunate to have such talent as this.
Amazing - I play this piece on piano, and it's astounding to watch how he blends the parts, swapping the lead back and forth as he's playing, as it should be, with one hand carrying the lead and then the other. Magnificent! (And 91 people - the down voters- have no souls.)
This is one of my favourite pieces of classical music. Not a lot of people know the full piece and the fact that it has some quite lively moments. This version is absolutely heavenly!!! It sounds wonderful on the Glass Harp!!! 👍👍👍
I am stunned at how incredible this sounds. It is the song I always want to hear at a wedding and i have heard many wonderful versions. this one is certainly the most unique. Thank you for sharing and keep up with these videos. This one, Für Elise and Tocate Fugue in D Minor were all just excellent.
I wish my keyboard had a glass harp voice. It's a Kurzweil and about 25 years old, but it still sounds great and has 100 voices - strings, clarinet, choir, etc. If they don't make keyboards with glass harp voices by now, they should - and they should get Robert Tiso to record all the notes for them! I think I can buy some gadget to add more voices if I want. If I can get one that lets me add the glass harp, it would definitely be worth it.
I have heard Pachelbel Canon in D major played before and I was enchanted by the music when I first heard it. This time brought tears to my eyes. This was extraordinary! I'm buying the CD.
I don't understand how anyone can dislike this. First of all, it's Pachelbel's Canon in D - one of the greatest (if not the greatest) piece of music ever created in the history of humanity. Secondly, it's played on glass harp. Thirdly, it's arranged in multi layers which he does all by himself! This is amazing! Wow!!!!!
Renserin said: "To call this impressive is an understatement big enough to fly a 747 though. I am in awe of such an intricate, masterful performance. And **that** is an understatement big enough to sail the Kennedy, Nimitz, and the Eisenhower through, side-by-side! My first introduction to the Cannon in D was back in 1975 when I heard it on a promo album by the Musical Heritage Society. I was awestruck! It was ethereal, music for the gods, impressive beyond belief. If I could have made an endless-loop of it, I would have. Since then I have been trying to find a copy of Pachelbel's Cannon that measured up to the breathtaking intensity of that first recording. I listened to every arrangement I could find, from the London Symphony Orchestra to pan-pipes. Though all were very good, nothing matched the sheer "Oh My Gosh!" of that original recording. Until now. Robert Tiso's arrangement of the Cannon in D left me jaw-droppingly speechless. The arrangement is superb, the execution flawless, (despite what the nay-sayers may think). As Ogg9 said, it's truly an "eargasm". Mr. Tiso, my hat's off to you. You have set a new standard for all future performances to be measured against. I wish you every success, and may all your recordings be as well done.
The idea and technique were developed way back in 1741 by Richard Pockrich some 278 years ago, so not an entirely new instrument. I do however completely agree with the sentiment.
I saw my first glass "harmonica" at the historical society on a school field trip. Came home after school and emptied the cabinets of crystal, covering the table (that I'd unceremoniously cleared of its mounded chaos). I managed to get 3 octaves by also digging out my grandma's crystal from the attic and was coaxing Greensleeves when my mother came home, saw the stack of papers in the corner and flew into a panic. Maybe, now that I'm someplace in life a little less prone to the constancy of moving vans, I might keep an eye out for old sets of real crystal. In Ayurveda, there is special relavance in healing from music created without striking notes. In playing with that concept, I stopped the painful "muscle memory" replayng 6 weeks worth of grinder/sander/dremmel vibrations that were bringing back arthritis & fibromyalgia pain I thought I'd conquered. Deep, rich, resonant tones a balm for high speed drill motors and looming deadlines. Delicate higher pitches the cancel for residual ringing ears. I was using, at the time, the display of beyond my price range hanging chimes at the hardware store, but now I wonder if a crystal punch bowl would work?
I thought I had died and an angel took me in hand brought me to a place like no other, and there was another angel who played a melody to shiver the soul ... this can not be true ....Words for what? you are a Godsend.
Till now, I thought of making music with crystal wine glasses to be little more than a gimmick. This performance, however, was astounding. The sound is incredibly unique, and so soothing. I believe that I occasionally heard some resonant overtones that briefly detracted from the piece, though only briefly. I can’t imagine how much practice and work went into this. Bravo, sir. Bravo.
I just started crying...absolutely beautiful!! Plus his ability to not touch adjoining glasses; pure artistry. Bravo!! The true composer would be proud.
Was just listening again to this today and I thought I heard an organ playing very softly with the "cello" part (the one that has just the same 4 notes over and over throughout the whole piece). Then I went back up and read the description. No organ, but there was some extra "tweaking." It's just wonderful the stuff that can be done today when you mix a little technology with live music. Robert Tiso is a genius!
I discovered this recording last year and at Christmas, I shared with my dad, a retired marine corp pilot Viet Nam era and it brought tears to hears eyes. That was the best present I ever received. Thanks for your talent and sharing it with us.
