- This Vera Bradley video is all about the Spectrum of Slings (Backpacks) and includes my Sling collection, comparison and review of the different fabrications and sizes available from both Retail and Factory side. Retail style regular size Slings included in this video are the (Cotton) Moonlight Garden, (Lighten Up) Wisteria, Kona Paisley, Foxwood Meadow; and (Performance Twill) Deep Night Paisley Neutral. Regular size Factory Style Sling (Lighten Up) Toucan Party. Retail style Mini Slings in (ReActive) Garden Picnic, Grey Heather and (Lighten Up) Holland Garden.

This was INCREDIBLY helpful! Going through all of the pockets, different sizes, showing different wallet sizes (SO HELPFUL!) and even showing wearing it and talking about wearing it on the opposite shoulder. I AM left-handed but luckily I am more comfortable wearing it like right-handed people, lol. Thanks Princess!

I have been searching for reviews that focus on size comparisons and specifically wondered if water bottles would fit in the mini. Thanks for providing such a great review and comparison. I am left handed and like my cross straps on my right shoulder so I think these slings should work well for me!

If they don't work well for you, being a lefty, then I recommend the Vera Bradley Convertible Backpack which allows you to customize which side the base of the strap anchors to. Whatever you decide to go with I really hope that it works for you!! ENJOY

I have the Mini Sling in Holland Bouquet also! I’ve only used it a couple of times, but I do like it. It’s interesting the size difference between the two. I never realized how much bigger the regular one is. That was a good size comparison you showed! Take care and stay safe! 😊
Hi Cynthia 😃 I thought the size difference was pretty interesting too. I didn’t realize how very different they are until I put them side-by-side and I had waited longer because of it (not knowing). I didn’t want more multiple bags that are too close to the same size. These are obviously totally different so I’m glad that I took the leap 👍 I really like both and the small size is going to be fun!

I have both sizes and love them. . My regular size is Mint Flowers and my mini is in Merry Beary , can't carry polar bears in the Spring/Summer, so today i ordered Sunny Garden the mini sling in Sunny Garden, for Spring/Summer.

Loved your comparisons. Thank you so much. I have the regular size denim blue reactive. Love the color. Haven’t used it since I’ve been home due to COVID-19. Thinking of getting the mini in the grey. Glad you showed it to us. The color is great and seeing it online doesn’t due it justice. It’s really nice. Thanks again. Btw have to ask. You have so many do you ever end up selling them? I’m a VB newbie. When I worked in New York I purchased so many designer bags that I can’t get rid of now 😞 i have no children who I can give them to. I agree, the pictures online really don’t do the colors justice. I like the Dark Blue Heather but haven’t gotten anything in that color yet but I just ordered the NEW ReActive XL Grand Backpack and can’t wait to see that color in person too! 💙 I have definitely run into a capacity problem (closet became room became tightly stacked, etc) and though I bought every single bag for a purpose (to keep, use or gift) there will eventually come a time when I do finally sell some of the items. I don’t know yet when or how but the time will come. In the meantime, I just keep trying to get the very best deals possible at every step and keep enjoying and trying all the new things as I see fit. I know it isn’t fiscally responsible in the short term, but for unused bags that are still NWT there is a HUGE market later. I’m not terribly worried about any of that for now but valid question. Love my slings! I think I have maybe 8 at this point. I only have one factory style, don’t think I will purchase again unless it’s a “must have” pattern. The lack of organization in factory is a bummer. That said, I bought it in the recycled cotton buffalo check and despite the crappy pockets and cotton, I use this bag often! The neutral black and white check looks so awesome with bag charms. I still need to get a PT sling, will be on the hunt in future OOS.
OOS is a perfect time to grab both retail and factory style items that you are wanting to try! I hope that you find some really great deals on the stuff you love. Slings are great and I agree about the factory style ones. They aren't my favorite, but sometimes the lack of organization is a good thing.

@@WarthogPrincess I got a Harry Potter Herbology print in the mini sling. I love it! I also definitely want the larger size in a reactive, or other water resistant material, to wear in the parks (and to possibly fit a wand, because I'm a Potterhead)

I would recommend trying them on in the store if you have the chance. It might work great for you depending on how you like the fit and how big around you are. I’m guessing it will be long for you but you never know 🤷🏻♀️

Hi Lyn! I’m glad that the comparison was helpful for you. I honestly think you can’t go wrong either way. The difference between water resistance, water repellance, and waterproof is distinct and Vera does a good job differentiating one from the other. Though none of their bags are actually “waterproof” the Performance Twill and the ReActive are both water repellant (better than the lesser water resistance of the Lighten Up) and that is awesome! 💦

Lyn, I think that they are very comparable functionally. The Reactive Slings have a mix of chunky plastic and regular smooth nylon zippers while the Lighten Up Slings have only the nylon zippers. I haven’t had any issues with any of them so it really boils down to a matter of preference.
Thank you for the very informative sling comparison! I appreciate that you put the two sizes on and showed how you can pull the bag forward and get into it. I don’t own any backpacks but I am considering a sling in the future since you can just put it on like a crossbody, then easily pull it around and use it😀. I have my eye on a sling (not sure on size yet) in Cloud Vine and a lighten up in Indiana Blossoms. I’m waiting on a good sale!!
Thank you Rebecca. I’m glad that you found the comparison informative. I am a huge backpack person so I have just about every variety. Sings are a different breed and so easy and comfortable and versatile. Pulling it around quickly and easily is my favorite part about them too. Not having to take it off and find a place to set it so that you can dig through it (like a big backpack) is a big bonus. The ones you stated are great options and pretty patterns. If you want one at 30% off you can call any of the Vera Bradley stores that just opened and they have EVERYTHING on sale for 30%, not just the items listed on the website. The Woodlands store in Houston is open and you can check online for others too. If you have a $25 off $75 coupon too that makes the final price about 50% off which is amazing. Wow your videos are great! I love all the details! What is your favorite “go to” fabric for the slings? Do you find the cotton gets dirty quickly at all? I can’t decide what fabric for my first VB bag!
Hello, welcome, and thank you!! I like all the fabrications but for the Sling I think I’d say Reactive or Lighten Up. I haven’t had any problems with my cotton getting dirty since I git dark patterns and they really haven’t been too challenged yet. Reactive is waterproof though and slings are more casual for me (greater chance of getting dirty) so I find that useful. Plus they are lighter. Hope whatever you choose for your first becomes a favorite 😃

I think that the lighten up and/or reactive materials are cooler (breath better). Some people actually say the cotton ones are. It depends I think on hoe much you sweat and what climate you are in and how closely they fit your body

Hi Marty! I like the Little Hipster a lot actually and have several of them. I personally think that the ReActive Mini Sling is lighter and more versatile. I say that it is more versatile because the size and shape of the main pocket allows for more options of what you can put in there. Where did you find the factory lighten up sling in Toucan Party? I couldn't find the link.
There was a Vera Bradley online outlet sale, not the regular one, but since the brick and mortar stores were all closed they did a special online outlet sale offering a few of the new/current factory styles and patterns. The online sale is now closed once again (same address and procedures as the regular online outlet sales) so the link won't get you there right now. However, Vera's stores are now opening slowly all over. If there is one near you then you can go there in person. If not, you can make a phone order to ANY Vera Bradley Factory Outlet store. Check verabradley.com to see which one(s) are open now. Best of luck and happy hunting!
