Thank you, Wayne, for sharing your knowledge and helping us elevate our video content to the next level using Canva! I'd love to learn best practices for creating animated graphics in Canva with a green screen so they can be imported and used in other editing software like Premiere Pro, CapCut, etc.
Your video tutorials cannot be this fabulous! They are unreal in their blending of design with creation technique. I spent ages learning After Effects. It's so complex and painful that I think Adobe should be charged with a hate crime! LOL! But what an amazing gift these tutorials are! Thank you. Thank you.
Thank you Karen! You have made my day! 😊 AE is way more powerful, there's no question about that, but for a lot of people iot's way more than they need (or can handle! 🤣). But Canva does have it's limitations, - sometimes it's just about learning how to work around those. Thank you for being here! 🖤
I am in love with your videos!!! 💕💓 They are so informative and easy to comprehend. I was wondering if you could do a video about animating statistics and graphs. I am a personal finance coach and I use videos to market to my clients and provide helpful content to them. I want to show some charts and graphs showing the difference between two things and I though animations would make everything nicer and keep my audience’s attention span intrigued. You briefly mentioned animating charts in this video and I was a bit excited that you were going to show how it’s done but you transitioned to another topic. I would be super grateful if you made an entire video about this. Keep up the great work!!!
I couldn't possibly love your content more. People like you are the reason why UA-cam is still awesome and why my faith in humanity still exists. Thank you SO much, I've learned heaps and I'm looking forward to each video. My boss is overjoyed with my progress (I'm a social media graphic artist and I was hating on Canva in favour of PS and AI). However, now I see the mindblowing possibilities of Canva and it's so much fun. Really rediscovering childlike joy and wonder related to creativity 😍 THANK YOU!
Veronika!!! 😳 Thank you so much - this comment has made my whole week.😊 I appreciate you being here and I am so glad I can help to inspire you to keep creating! And thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely message! 🖤🖤
Subscribed immediately! The quality of this video, and with that I mean the overall attention to details and the way you explain concepts is off the chart. Also, you look like a very genuine and authentic person and this is the most important thing. Keep up the amazing work Wayne 👏
Each one of your videos that I've watched reduces the overwhelm and sheer fear I have for giving it a go. Starting a new personal brand and so happy I found your channel before diving in and trying to follow the thousands of other channels. No need for that now I have found your channel and eagerly awaiting the course, its a must for me starting out. Thanx Wayne!
Thank you SO much Melissa! Honestly This kind of comment means so much to me, and I am really thrilled to be able to help. 😊 And I am very glad to have you here! 🖤
Wow, so glad to have discovered you and your content Wayne! Thank you for bringing such clear, concise and genuine material. It's both inspiring and empowering. I ended up binge watching you last night and have subscribed so I don't miss any future videos. Thanks again 😘
Wow! So much, so quick! (but then, I'm SLOOOOW). Thank you, Wayne. FYI...I have put a couple of your tutorials into practice. Obviously, still amateurish, BUT I've learnt where to find functionality I didn't know existed! Lots of "aahh...s" being voiced......hee hee. Thanks again 👍
LOL...i know, I try and keep the videos short but that does mean sometimes it's a bit quick. But at least you can watch it again 🤣...or at a 0.5 speed which I know some people find helpful. Honestly, the best way to get better is just experimentation and keep trying - I LOVE that you are putting these into practice. You will be surprised how quickly you uplevel you design eye if you keep creating and looking for examples to inspire you.
Thank you for this video. I've been searching on YT and Google for how to pan in and out on Canva for a talking head video. Great information that I look forward to implementing! Subscribed!
Great tips! Thank you! I would love to get ideas on how to frame two talking heads in a video. I do a lot of videos that are snippets of interviews or podcasts, and each participant is in a different frame.
Great video. I learn so much from you and see the value that Canva really provides me. I'm clearly underutilizing this tool. Creativity is not my superpower so your helping me so much.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Perfect nuanced enhancements that elevate -- love it. Thank you for this. Subscribed - especially when I saw that bullet for your newsletter that notes "Authentic me." YES, PLEASE. So important and wonderful in this digital age. Thank you.
Just finding your videos today. I just took an eight month college course certifying me in Digital Marketing but I feel as though I didn't really specialize in anything since we didn't stay on a topic long enough. I have prior experience but now that I'm at a professional stage in my career I need tips like this to make my work stand out! You've gained a new sub!

Thanks Wayne for responding to my comment. You being you, and the way you connect with people is exactly why I’m waiting for your course to open again so that I can jump right in. Have a fab weekend. 💛🙏💛
Great video, Wayne! All of it was so helpful - especially the tip about the eye line. Question - can I upload my long-form video (say anything from 15 minutes+) into Canva, or do I need to export smaller segments, animate them, and then re-upload to my editing software? I know that there are ways to do these effects in my editing software, but I am not an editor, just a creator doing her own editing (for now 😀). Thank you in advance.
Unfortunately Canva has a file upload size limit, and as much as I love Canva it is not robust enough for editing long video clips I'm afraid. You could always create the graphics in Canva and just animated them in your video software, or even try using a 'green screen' background if your editing software makes that easy to do.
Wayne, this is brilliant and so simple to learn to do. I have recently started a podcast, my third time around 😁, and have also set it up for YT. I have been looking at how to make it more interesting and this is everything I wanted to have! Thank you so much for your gifts of sharing your brilliance. Much love 💜
Already subscribed some time ago... This one is fire, Wayne! As a fellow designer/brand strategist love your step-by-step impactful tutorials that integrate simplicity with pared-down, smart design...which, you know, drives results for whatever you want to achieve, sell, promote. Canva can feel quirky for experienced designers, yet you're guiding us to become more comfortable in using and optimizing it, especially in our increasingly video-first world. Thank you! PS: Fingers crossed you'll create more of these for very beginner level video editing that can still look great. Greetings from US and REBRAND.
I'd love it if you showed the strengths or just the characteristics of other Canva video templates and then, just as you've done here, do your magic with transforming it into something professional looking. I think you could do gazillions of them and each would be so very valuable!
Hey Wayne! Thank you for your amazing Canva tutorials! I've learned a lot from your videos. Can you please consider making tutorials on how to showcase websites in Canva? I'd love to learn how to create website promos or ads using Canva's features. Your insights would be greatly appreciated!
I will add it to the list of future tutorials! 😁 I would use very similar ideas to this example, and use animations to create a scroll effect on the page grabs etc. Keep an eye out for future videos!

Once again a Wayne video that adds to expanding my video toolbox (...the secret to my creative superpowers? Wayne's absolute genius!) Thank you SO much Wayne! Ugh...now I have to wait a WHOLE WEEK for the next one...sigh... Btw...what does the OS stand for in your course?...it's been buggin' me lol...I'm not good with abbreviation meanings 🙄
Thank you Marlene - your comments are so inspiring to me 😊. LOL..the 'OS' stands for 'Operating System'. It's a play on the OS that runs a computer or other system of functions that all work together to make something work.
Glad it's helpful! I do think CapCut is way more powerful - and has way more video editing features - than Canva, but for basic edits Canva can do more than people realize.
Oh I WISH! Sadly not...Canva is VERY limited in terms of anything like that - even images cannot be adjusted with perspective or depth in most cases. Canva is great, but it's still very limited compared to AE etc. I'm afraid. 🤨
Hi! I have a Question (besides huge praise for your amazing content and skills) How can we make those animations you use in minte 15:36, where your phone flies and moves through changing angles as your screen scrolls or shows what you're doing? Thanks
Hey Juan! Thank you so much 😊. That phone animation was done in After Effects. Canva's animation tools don't allow for that level of complexity (yet) unfortunately. There are some video mockups in Canva where you can add a STILL image in, but not a video within a video yet. Hope that makes sense?
Hi Wayne, I recently found your channel and am so glad. I edit my long form in FCPX they are often around 25 to 45 minutes once edited. Forgive my lack of technical expertise, but I'm assuming that I export my rendered files in FCPX to a .mov or mp4. Then I import that whole file say 5-8 gbs into Canva to tweak and re-edit as you suggest in this video. Can Canva handle those file sizes? Or do I chop up my video in FCPX import tiny bits, play and design then export as a .mov or mp4 to be put back into FCPX and added to the final film? The latter seems to be a lengthy workflow. I hope you can clear these points up for me and maybe others, many thanks, Paul. PS I assume everything you teach relies on using Canva Pro and not the free version?
Hi Paul - glad to have you here! To be honest, I think Canva's capabilities may not be robust enough for your needs. Canva has an upload file size upper limit of 1024Mb - so that would be tricky with your quality and length of videos. What you could try is creating the animated graphics in Canva over a blank background and then use FCPX to remove that (like you would a green screen). But I suspect there may be a way to replicate these kinds of graphics WITHIN FCPX with less hassle. I love Canva, but it definitely has it's limits. I hope that helps...let me know if I can answer any other questions. 🖤
You are a great teachet. I’m going to sign up for your class. Did you get the music in the video you made from Canva Pro as well or did you have to go to an outside source? Do you think I can just use Canva for all of my video editing needs or do I have to have another package as well? I currently have canva Pro and Camtasia… I would like to get good at Canva and just have one package to work with…. Also, I’m a realtor and I shoot everything with my iPhone… is there an app or something that makes it easy to get all of your work pictures and videos off of your phone and into a common area so that you can work on the video editing?
Thank you very much! 😊 The music is from a music library I use: uppbeat.io/?referral=chris-xgj74 (it has a few free tracks per month, but also a small subscription plan). Canva has a limit to the video file sizes you can upload, so it's best suited for short videos. If you're going to do longer videos I would suggest looking at something like CapCut (also has a free plan) which is pretty easy to learn to do basic edits. If you have a Mac computer you can easily airdrop or share images and videos, otherwise you could save them from you phone to a dropbox or Google drive account, and then access them from there on your computer. Hope this helps.
The video editing is really simple, but how do you take a clip in the center and splice it if you don’t want certain elements to be shown, I’ve not been able to figure that out without adding multiple clips of the same item
I would just add cuts where the section you want to remove starts and ends. Then you can just delete that section and the video sections before and after will snap together. Does that make sense?
Just found your channel. Loving it, so useful. Random Question: what chair are you using? It looks like the Marcus from IKEA which seems super popular.
For your branding designs, do you just create a png file with transparent background? I never thought of doing it that way for my IG name. I always type it out. This would be so much easier!
There are indeed. In general is definitely better for short form and social video. They limits on your TOTAL storage and also on the files sizes for uploads. For video uploads the stated max is a file size of 1GB. You can see all the limits here: www.canva.com/en_gb/help/upload-formats-requirements/
Which software do you use to edit your own videos? Would love to see some Text animation / text options that would raise the game of my UA-cam videos currently.
I use Canva and Adobe Premiere Pro (I've used it for years so I have a library of things I've use). That's a great suggestion! I have added it to my list of future tutorials!! 🖤
@@redupia I don't think I grouped those elements, I just had them overlaid and then animated together. But you can group ANY elements by selecting them and hitting CMD/CTRL G - or right clicking and choosing 'Group' from the pop-up menu
I think it depends on how your audience is likely to watch the video. If you think they are most likely to watch on a mobile device, the vertical is the perfect format! In they watch on a desktop or laptop, then horizontal format video gives people more space to see the content and tends to work better. Hope that helps. 🖤
One of my FAVORITE discoveries of the last year LOL...it's a little app that is SO good for screen recording and does the zoom ins etc automatically for you! 🤯 Its called Screen Studio and you can check it out here: createdbywayne.com/screenstudio
Hi Luna! I love Canva, but I think it has a LONG way to go before it can replace those tools 😜. But a lot of people who DO use those tools don't actually need all the pro-level functionality and could use Canva to make it all a bit more accessible.
Are there any other video effects or animations you'd like to learn to create in Canva? Drop a comment and let me know! 🖤
Hmmm.... overall approach on creating long-form faceless videos. I'd love to get your take on it.
I will be glad if you can teach us how to create faceless UA-cam videos. I will be very happy. Thank you

Great Video. thanks
Glad you liked it!
Hey Bill - glad you're enjoying the channel! 😊 It IS an IKEA chair but it's not the Marcus. I'm afraid I can't remember what it's called tho!
For your branding designs, do you just create a png file with transparent background? I never thought of doing it that way for my IG name. I always type it out. This would be so much easier!
For my IG handle I usually type it out, but I have a PNG of a horizontal logo variation that it easy to just drop into any design.
Magnifique !
Merci beaucoup! 🖤
Wayne ✨
😊
That was great and no so intimidating! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful. Honestly, it just takes a bit odf time experimenting and getting comfortable with it. You got this. 🖤
Thx Wayne. Are there any video length or size limits on Canva?
There are indeed. In general is definitely better for short form and social video. They limits on your TOTAL storage and also on the files sizes for uploads. For video uploads the stated max is a file size of 1GB. You can see all the limits here: www.canva.com/en_gb/help/upload-formats-requirements/
Top class!
Thank you!!
Great tutorial!! Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
nice , thank you Wayne
Of course - hope it was helpful!
@@createdbywayne that was very helpful for me, start learning canva.
How’d you do the zoom in effect on the laptop?
That's done in Premiere Pro - I've used it for years, and it's a more powerful option for my longer videos.
awesome
Thank you! 😊
what about adding low music in the beginning and having it fade out and than adding it again at the end?
Sure! That could work well, and in Canva it's easy to add a 'fade out' effect to the music track.
@@createdbywayne how did you group the logo animation at minute 7:50?
@@redupia I don't think I grouped those elements, I just had them overlaid and then animated together. But you can group ANY elements by selecting them and hitting CMD/CTRL G - or right clicking and choosing 'Group' from the pop-up menu
Fantastic video
Thank you very much! 😊
I shot an online class in portrait mode, it looks terrible on the screen. Is it a must to shoot in landscape mode?
I think it depends on how your audience is likely to watch the video. If you think they are most likely to watch on a mobile device, the vertical is the perfect format! In they watch on a desktop or laptop, then horizontal format video gives people more space to see the content and tends to work better. Hope that helps. 🖤
What tool do you use to screen record your desktop?
One of my FAVORITE discoveries of the last year LOL...it's a little app that is SO good for screen recording and does the zoom ins etc automatically for you! 🤯 Its called Screen Studio and you can check it out here: createdbywayne.com/screenstudio
Thank you big help
Glad to hear it 😊
The Best
Thank You
Wow, I wonder if Canva can replace Adobe Premiere and CapCut.
Hi Luna! I love Canva, but I think it has a LONG way to go before it can replace those tools 😜. But a lot of people who DO use those tools don't actually need all the pro-level functionality and could use Canva to make it all a bit more accessible.
@@createdbywayne so then I can stick with Adobe maybe. I like their tools but everyone seems to be up on canva. That’s why I asked.
Is this all done in the pro version?
It is indeed 😁
@@createdbywayne thank you, I still haven't taken the leap to the pro version.
