Actually, Devyat' Rodion's retreat mechanic works like forsed loose from Faelantern back in the day - so you keep your resourses, hp and sp after the defeat. That also mean you can abuse the hell out of gifts like Child in the Flask(gives you 1 of every resourse at the first wave).
I've done a run with Pequod Yi Sang in mirror dungeon 3, the videos called "The Relentless Stabber Strikes Again" if you want to check it out. But I will be trying make a solo video with every identity eventually.
