    Although I love to be a one man band I ultimately opted for Kronos 2015 61 key, I just become euphoric if I hear or can design those multilayered lush and atmospheric pads, can't imagine my day without hearing them :) when I complement that with Spectrasonics omnisphere, that's when I'll stop looking around :D

      hi, which keyboard out the two that you have mentioned has better sound quality in terms of individual sounds like Pianos and EPs. And to what extent is one keyboard better than the other?

    thanks for this. a very no-nonsense recap of many features and pros/cons of each kind of keyboard and not a lot of trying to pimp korg per se, which I admit I expected more of. bravo and thanks again. as a composer still wrestling with what to get, it is at least a start as I knew little about arrangers.......and stores frustratingly almost never have them in the store.

    I'm just realizing I've never used my Kronos at its full potential. I'm gonna have to find my manual again. I think I might try an arranger too. I'm still using my old Triton extreme this is a strong beast...still in love with it like the first time I bought it. That video was usual.

    Great video. Though even us "Workstation guys" would like some of those "Arranger" features. Notably (Dedicated hard of soft buttons) for transpose & octave (For when the band you sit in with does the song in a different key), more ways to incorporate articulations so those huge sample libraries sound less static. Finally, if not harmonizers, vocoders that are at least 16 band so they're useful beyond a novelty. ;)

    I can't even choose man!
    I have simple needs:
    -Absolutely needs a drum kit/beat machine. I don't need to make my own(no midi related stuff). Just large group of genres beats/drum sounds and styles to play along with. I want to manipulate the tempo and complexity of these drums/ beats with the simple touch of a button.
    - I need to layer my synths. If I want to combine a Grand Piano and Slow Strings, I want to easily do that.
    - I need to transpose the keys at the press of a button. Ex:Key A transpose to Key A Flat (Ab).
    - Built in Speakers!!! I have professional headphones, but I enjoy speakers more.
    - Must have a large screen to navigate all the different folders and settings. Doesn't have to be touch screen.
    - Must have a sustain pedal jack support of course.
    What do you guys think?
    Workstation or Arranger?

    • @ephraimbagthasingh9632
      @ephraimbagthasingh9632 5 років тому

      A arranger is good for you. Korg has really good styles i.e rthyms and very good voices i.e tones. It's very realistic. And it even has a mic and guitar input. So if you connect a mic and sing u can add soo many effects for the mic such as a robotic sound i.e a synth vocoder. And if you connect a guitar you can many amps. Like distortion, overdrive,etc. And the giant touch screen is soo good. I suggest that you can get Korg pa 700 which is aprx 1300 dollars. Or Korg pa 600 which aprx 1000 dollars. But if you purchase in a much higher budget then I can suggest Korg pa 1000 or pa 3x(If it's available) or pa 4x. These are really expensive but worth the price. Hope you'll choose your keyboard now😀.
      Farewell amigo.

    • @ephraimbagthasingh9632
      @ephraimbagthasingh9632 5 років тому

      Workstations however is more for a studio person and he who knows the idea of what to do with it. I've seen people get expensive Korg Kronos X and don't know what to do with it and how to use it. But if are aware how to use it then its good for you. Remember, arrangers for one man band and live performance and workstations for studio purposes and even performing with a band. Arrangers and workstations are good for bands and live performance and band performances.

    • @ephraimbagthasingh9632

    I already have a Pa3x and I LOVE IT. However one feature that I wish the Pa3x had that the KRONOS does that makes me want to get one, is set list mode. Yes I know that the new Pa4x does, but it's not the same. That only works for Songbook entries and not the entire keyboard (for lack of a better word) like the KRONOS

    Good idea for a video. I want a synth, that I can load certain samples onto certain keys for performance, and transposition is something I'd love. I don't need realistic grand pianos, for me it's about sound design in an old school analogue style environment. But I only have so many hands, or might want to trigger backing box, so assigning voices to parts of the keyboard or individual keys would be ideal.

    Arrangers are often used by solo entertainers, like when the couple getting married can't afford a complete band.
    These are also the instrument where you can find Arabic instruments, which are seldom implemented in a convincing way in workstations.

    Not going to lie, being a recording studio business owner I would say that both of these would have to be purchased for the studios as to maximise productivity.
    The arranger because of its' capability to put music arrangements quickly with styles and backing parts makes it ideal to produce quickly without having to look to the computer or having to think about running out of processing power.
    The workstation when you want to hard plugin into computer programs with supportive digital signal processing to lighten the load of the computer and for the massive collection of sounds, And on a personal note I feel like many of the sounds on workstations are superior to software plugins in general with a few exceptions.
    So if you are serious about music then get both, I will also add that if your interested in 88 key with hammer action then go for the workstation as there are more options, arrangers tend to be 76 key on the high end. if you have money though get a smaller arranger and connect it to the
    workstation for full key scale playing.

    • @jr-shotsadeogun7029
      @jr-shotsadeogun7029 6 років тому

      Yh. I was thinking the Genos would be perfect as I love the sounds on the keyboard and would like to use a music software to record them. The only reason I wouldn’t buy a Genos is if a workstation has a keyboard which has sounds better than it.

    • @a.barnard3205
      @a.barnard3205 6 років тому +1

      Arranger and Workstation have existed in the SAME instrument since at LEAST 2000.
      The sophistication of today, might not have been fully there, but you COULD get what you wanted in ONE rig.
      And, in the now, CASIO brilliantly demonstrates that you don't have to break the bank on a quality keyboard that does BOTH!
      Keep your eye out for the CT-X5000, coming out near the end of May.
      THIS unit is goin to be CASIOS best 'board to date!
      And it will only cost $450!

    Trying to decide which to get. I'm a singer/songwriter (which the arranger seems geared towards) who wants to experiment with sounds. Seems like the arranger is especially useful for creating that "one-man band," but doesn't the workstation have a lot of those functions also?

    • @a.barnard3205
      @a.barnard3205 7 років тому

      Go with an arranger because the functions that you seek are guaranteed for a "one man band" and also, they are a bit simpler to learn how to operate.

    Now Rich, could you do ANOTHER video on the many different ways that CLASSIC MIDI RECORDING can be done on the PA Series.
    I've discovered ONE, so far, and that is the ability to record rubato sections on the PA600.
    However, there is NOTHING in the "Owners Manual" about the ability to record tracks with JUST drums or a "click", WITHOUT the "Auto Accompaniment" stuff or how to use the tap tempo function to set your OWN tempo, in the first place.
    With the exception of "Tap Tempo" all of the aforementioned could be done with ease on my old Casio WK-1350 Workstation Arranger.
    Stay tuned though, aside from MIDI issues, there is MORE to discuss......

    I need your advice that I can get through ansewers to the following questions:
    1. Is the preset piano sound on Korg Kross 2 improved compared to Korg Kross 1? ( Also what are some other improvements in Korg Kross 2);
    2.. If tried to fi d the equivalent to Korg Kross 2 among other products (sych as Roland, Yamaha and Casio) what would they be? Is Roland FA for example the equivalent to Korg Kross 2 or is it Roland Juno?

    • @leegreveson
      @leegreveson 6 років тому

      Bato Daesitiates At the Kross 2 price point, the Juno DS61 is about as close. Feature wise I couldn't say. The reason I opted for Kross 2 were the potential of the Combi mode for live performance, however, while the Kross 2 can play a complete wav file backing track, to get it to do so isn't a simple process, and the manual isn't very helpful. One thing they changed design wise was the integrated carry handle and two tone case, pity as they were good design and practical ideas.

    Hi guys... i am now confused between Korg pa300 and Yamaha s670.. i am a beginner to keyboards and my ultimate objective is to create mashups and compose own music and then transfer it to the DAW in my pc to record my vocals ( in my home studio) and use my DAW for mixing to get the final output. I am also keen to learn how to make karaoke tracks myself ( instead of buying them online) so that I can record cover songs as well. Which of the two keyboards would meet that requirement.

    Please help my ignorance. Surely, the new arrangers are also being marketed as a workstation as well i.e The Genos and the Pax4 etc. Although, both keyboards specialise as an arranger they also have qualities to be a decent workstation as well. Quick question: Does it really matter if I purchase a workstation or arranger if all I'm looking for is the best realistic sounds of different instruments? I ask as it seems like the arranger keyboards (Genos and Pax4) have the best sounds- much more than any workstation currently. Thanks and God bless!

    Very informative, thank you very much.
    However, I would like to know which one of the two is better for live stage shows in a band context. I'm getting the impression that the workstation is better than the arranger, but both can pull it off?

      a midi keyboard can do all of this, except you have to you know, buy vsts, and a daw

    1:55 it's 2016, you buy $4000 workstation that comes wit 32bit editor only! If you use 64 bit DAW only, you end up without editor... Stupid, even though I love my Kronos

      ACleverMonkey Shame!!! They made the software when they first built Oasis and now are reselling it in new package as Kronos 1, 2, X etc...
      They charge so much money for an instrument but couldn't rewrite it's editor to 64bit...

    • @FlatTire

      Philo Beddoe USD is not only dollar in the world, that's first.
      Second, I already got pro DAW and am not interested in something else.
      Why do I need the editor brsides kronos screen is my personal thing.
      I use it in studio environment, along other instruments and controlling it from within the DAW would be most logical thing.
      Basically, because og lack of editor controll, I'm rarely implementing Kronos sounds into my projects

    • @FlatTire
      @FlatTire 7 років тому +3

      Philo Beddoe Mate, I have never seen England in my life :)
      I did not at all have intention to make you feel bad.
      I have worked hard and long hours to save up for Kronos, that's why I'm complaining about damn 32bit editor...
      On board editing is ok if you use it as standalone, for sound creation etc...
      Onboard seeuencer just doesn't work for me. I'd rather have proper vst editor than that, but that's only my opinion.
      There are some guys who do everything onboard and do great job.
      I have different approach, and if I need to dig into keyboard itself every time I'm looking for a sound, i'd rather throw it out... Such a time waster

    Pity you didn't release the Kross2 editor at the same time as the board, instead of making us wait at least 6 months. I'm really hoping it will make navigating the workstation a lot better experience so that I can set it up to do what your Kross2 demos claim it can.

    Question for anyone that know: The Arrangers shown had one that had the music score on the screen. Is it possible to record a piano piece and during playback you find a wrong note and can modify it right there and not have to mess with a computer and midi file software etc?? If so what model of keyboard would that be? thanks.

    Yo thanks for the video very helpful! anyone got any suggestions... i've been playing the keyboard for around 5-6 years although on a very cheap begginer keyboard, i also like to borrow my brothers synthesizer... does anyone know a good affordable keyboard that would work for playing live, and recording on a computer (most likely a workstation)? it doesn't need to have a ton of sounds as i have a synthesizer too but a fair few would be nice! thanks all! :)

    What you recommend if you want to be able to voth play live (arranger with speakers built in) and create musiv via PC? As there anything like that? Is there an arranger you can use for PC studio recording and software just like you do with workstation? Something like "all-in-one"?
