He is also a true alpha so his power is straight up his own, he didn't take the power from an alpha he earned it and the werewolfs that do take an alphas power get their strength plus the alphas so that's even more strength. I recommend you watch the show i personally loved it.

Whenever he uses his powers for good, they didn't notice it. Yet Stiles still wants him to keep going despite the consequences they will have. When they need him, he's always there. Most people that don't like the show all say the same thing, because most of em couldn't actually turn into a full on werewolf, but if you sit back and watch more episodes, they explain why some can and why some can't, they also explain why Scott as an alpha doesn't appear to be as strong as one, now for those who don't want spoilers, stop reading!..... The reason some can turn into a full on wolf is because they let go fully and give in completely to their animal side and some don't that's why when malia first showed up she was stuck as a coyote because she gave up on her humanity at the time, as for Scott not being as powerful, The only main way outside of being a true alpha to become one, you have to either be born with it or steal it by Killin and alpha which than adds more power from their beta form when they kill for it, and if an alpha kills a member of their pack they become more stronger, seeing how Scott refuses to kill, and he gained his power by pure will, and morality, he didn't get that extra power boost, that and he was a fucking teenager at the time, most of his opponents were full on adults and had more experience with their powers than him
1) fully turning into a wolf or turning more animalistic during a shift is a trait only shared by the Hale Family. At no point in the show did anyone from outside of that family turn fully. Talia, Derek, Derek's sister, Peter, Malia, all of them were Hales. It is a genetic family trait. 2) The reason why Scott seems weak to a lot of people is because he is holding back. He is the strongest werewolf to be shown in the show and could easily beat anyone that goes up against him, however (as is stated by Braden to scott about Ducalion and why he wants him in the alpha pack) if Scott were to kill ANYONE he would immediately loose his status as a true alpha. Meaning he would no longer be an alpha if he were to take a life. That is why he holds back and why he is beaten so often, because if he goes all out, he will kill someone and no longer be an alpha.
