    Bryan's questions are just fantastic. I also love how science-based this is, this is about as far way from Meyer's-Briggs/Jungian/Freudian nonsense as you can get. This is really good science (although in this case science is the bearer of a lot of bad news).

    How are young people tested for ADHD? Many of the ADHD symptoms would exacerbate the behaviors of adolescents, young adults, and adults. The program mentioned at the end sounds valuable and helpful. I hope it's still being used today. This presentation was excellent. Thanks.

    • @letsreadtextbook1687

      Complete lack of it is bad, just like complete excess of it is bad. Balance is key!
      You can have logical structure of morals, if that's easier for you to comprehend

    • @veritysimone
      @veritysimone 2 місяці тому +1

      Morals need to be INFORMED by emotions, not driven by them. Some emotional consideration is necessary because it strengthens our belief that what we're doing is right; the emotion affirms the logic, making it more powerful. Also, we can't help but have emotions as a consideration; we're emotional creatures and we can't turn them off.
      Do you have a psychopathic brain? If so, you're also a narcissist, which means you'll never understand why empathy and emotions are good things both intrinsically and instrumentally to we feelers. You need to learn how to fake empathy and emotions, but getting good at it takes intense patience and study of people who seem so stupid. It'll take patience; as a psychopath, you need to learn it to get ahead.
      When passion drives you, let reason take the reins" Ben Franklin

    I'm a little confused about the boy killer as the example of a psychopath because his enthusiastic taunting was definitely a display of emotional interest. He was clearly hoping to get an emotional reaction out of his victims' families and he was excited for it. That isn't someone with deadened emotions, and psychopathy isn't defined by violence. He looks more like a narcissist which would also make sense considering his demographic. His violence was likely regarding his status insecurity rather than for fun. Most of his victims were not white.

    Adaptive behaviour using what you have available in a Universe that is a time delayed Mirror Test of probability integration, (academic avoidance of Actuality), self defence against your approximate mirror image, (we are individually unique in uniqueness), means that if it is a matter of survival in continuity, ie collective morality, eliminating the risk to Society in Common is one reason for pre-emptive "counter attack".
    In other words, "every case is different" and probable solutions are another aspect of "Precision is not Accuracy". (Invidious choices)

    So, question to any psycopath out there, if you can't feel some emotions, have you ever accidentally acted in a way to avoid consequences for feeling an emotion, for example, feeling sad and accidentally finding a different emotion like regret Example not being sad for a situation because you don't like people helping you and accidentally faking regret because you worded it wrong? How often do you find new emotions and are there emotions you noticed any that doesn't have a word associated with it?

    • @veritysimone
      @veritysimone 2 місяці тому

      How the hell could a psychopath have noticed emotions that have no words attached to them? They have enough trouble with the emotions non-psychopaths display. They'd notice new behavior, not new emotions, and if they're smart they'll try to comprehend it.
      I think what you're trying to ask is if any psychopath screwed up faking emotion and unintentionally made non-psychopaths think they were feeling something they're not?

    Really wanna watch this entire talk. But had to mention, after just popping in listening for 3 secs. The idea that psychopaths might feel a sense of loyalty towards e.g. family, sounds widely inaccurate to me after being involved with multiple psychopaths intimately. The core of psychopathy is being loyal to one person only in the end of the day, and that is themselves. In my experience they don't have the ability to even conceptualize the idea of loyalty for anyone other then themselves. What may look as loyalty to neuro-typical individuals is probably most often convenience, they would even throw their own kids before the bus if thats more "convenient" though. No loyalty, that defines psychopathy.

      @@word_salad_bingo there is no scientific evidence for "benevolent" psychopathy. The only people coining terms like this are suffering from a cluster B personality disorder or are psychopaths. I'm sorry it sounds so nice doesn't it? If you yourself are dealing with psychopathic thoughts or character traits then this does not mean you are have a psychopathic character overall those are not the same thing. Note people who support your ideas like James Fallon, are selfdeclared psychopaths. Well established researchers on psychopathy have already refuted the idea he is a psychopath because he does not meet the criteria of one. Yes psychopathy has a spectrum too, however caring for others like neurotypical humans do, its just not a thing for someone who really meets the criteria.

    I'm curious about the young man wearing the "killer" t-shirt. Did he ever have an MRI that measured the size of his Amygdala? Did he have an Amygdala? The circumstances surrounding his history are essential. What if his Amygdala was "normally" sized? Also, what causes a small amygdala? Perhaps there was a lack of some nutrients or minerals during his mother's pregnancy.
    It's almost shocking that many professionals today believe that psychopathology is caused by severe childhood trauma.

    It really quite simple! All animals are comprised of a wide variety of species. Dogs (collies vs Rottweilers), birds (parrots vs raptors), fish (sharks vs dolphins). Those species are DIFFERENT GENETICALLY (from birth). Well humans also are comprised of genetically different species . .empaths vs psychopaths. IT’S that simple and that complex!

      Primary Psychopathy is genetic, “born bad” as they say. Secondary Psychopathy is a trauma response. Primary Psychopaths don’t experience fear(allegedly) while Secondary Psychopaths experience significant anxiety levels. Here’s my take on it. Primary Psychopaths experience fear and anxiety, they merely have the power to suppress and control it in distressing situations. Secondary Psychopaths are significantly more impulsive and emotional, therefore.. control over emotions, including anxiety, is lacking.

    • @veritysimone
      @veritysimone 2 місяці тому

      Primary psychopaths have zero fear zero anxiety, but they CAN feel something kinda like it: adrenaline. Check their autonomic arousal.
      There is no such thing as a secondary psychopathy, not surrounding the issue of whether they experience fear or just adrenaline.

      Identify/spot them yourself (but don't tell them that, never tell them) and then avoid/leave. (Cut all contact and drop them like an evil stepmother you never wanna see ever again. Never ever)
      That is the ONLY way.
      You cannot "win" against a psychopath because they do not care. They do not share either. Psychopaths only use people to fill their own selfish needs.
      One more thing? If you do try to stay, which I have, they will make it so you never get your needs met. Emotional, physical, etc, and you will leave anyways OR be dumped.
      "You can't have it! You don't matter! 😝
      Ha HA ha HA ha!

      I forgot to add that that is a romantic partner/friend/family member. (Whichever)
      For a psychopathic boss, document, document, document.
      Heck, even for the psychopathic spouse too.
      You want physical proof. Texts, emails, etc.
      If the psychopath leaves you alone though, then it is best to leave.
      Some people have left their jobs because of a bad boss.
      It depends on your situation/decision.
