Everyone loves to bash on Bixby. Does it deserve the hate? Honestly… it might be justified, but that’s not the point of this video. Today I wanted to talk about my experience with what might be Bixby’s saving grace: Bixby Routines! Which basically automates tedious actions on your phone. Saving you the hassle.

✌️ Happy New Years Everyone! Are You Using Bixby Routines? If so, which ones?! ✌️
Hi from nepal🇳🇵
Thao your 300 subscribers away from 100k
Bixby routines Is a great and future of automated tasks I really loved and use it on the everyday lifestyle it makes sense rather commanding to Bixby for the automated tasks
thanks thao for making this a good thing, actually this is the main reason why i went back to the note 10+ after using a reno 10x zoom.
previously was using s10+ and have all these good things (routines) then shifted out as i usually change phones ( habit ^_^ ), then after shifting to an oppo i was trying to look for another app that can cover this app (bixby routines)
unfortunately there is non, so now im back to a note 10+ (upgrade again ) to use the routines again
thanks
It's actually been 2 years.
I love these deep dive into features. Too many reviewers crap in bixby but probably only used it for finding how to get somewhere and calling it a day. Keep it up Thao.

I actually liked it. I didn't use it ALL the time but the fact I could basically control essentially my entire phone without having to touch it (looking at you Siri) was pretty cool and useful. I never really understood the hate towards it 🤷🏽♀️
@@zerospecs2331 sometimes I feel it's just the reviewers. Nothing against them because it's a competitive market but, I think in order to look like the top reviewers you have to copy them a little bit and do what they do. So when someone didn't like bixby everyone jumped on it.
You're absolutely right. I don't understand the hate on Bixby. I mean these routines are even more functional to me that the voice commands which can be a hit or miss sometimes even on Google. I rarely use voice commands even and it seems unnatural to me. I hope Samsung improves Bixby more.
I've told this for long time,, some reviewers don't even used Galaxy Phone for longtime.. Bravo Bixby!!
I like this channel so much. She truly know about her smartphone
Wow. Samsung should hire you to advertise this feature more!
I've been using routines for almost a year. I set mine up to trigger based on my location by address, time of day, wifi connections, specific apps being open and/or if I have connected to Bluetooth in my car. I love walking into somewhere and never having to change anything because Bixby already has my phone the way I like. It even opens the apps that I need depending on where I am, what time it is and the day of the week. I enjoy Bixby.
Could you share some of your routines?
yes please
I had no idea about routines until this video. Would love to hear some of your routines.
I set a routine for going to work. The trigger is when I get it of range of my wifi. My Bluetooth turns on, Google Play Music launches and my phone switches to vibrate. At 8am when people start arriving at work another routine begins. What I need is always running, or connected and my ringer is never on when it shouldn't be or off when I want to hear it.
@@bassplayrguy1 Routines use an IFTTT protocol. I use weak wifi Monday to Friday between 630am and 9am to turn on Bluetooth, launch apps, change lock screen shortcuts, adjust my ringer and turn off wifi. For other routines I use location to trigger on specific days of the week or connection to my car via Bluetooth. The options are great and your phone is always how you want it.
How could anyone dislike a Thao video??? You're the bee's knees!

Bixby Routines is literally LIFE CHANGING.
It has endless possibilities!
When I open a game it turns on airplane mode, so I don't have ads 😀
I didnt know that!😲 Thanks
@@jenniferjuarez4253 Its Great!
Cool idea
@@digididog2661 thanks
Great video!
I have a few interesting routines to share:
1. My driving mode doesn't include the read aloud part, since it doesn't work in my language, but it does open the navigation app and music app like yours. The difference is I use Bluetooth to make it trigger itself - not that I have a Bluetooth system in my car (since I don't have a car, I mainly rent). Instead I have a little gadget I plug into any car's cigar lighter socket and connects to my phone via Bluetooth (which is the trigger for Bixby to activate car mode), transmitting the audio to the car's radio through FM waves.
2. I use my WiFi connection to turn off the smart lights in one part of my house when I move to the other part, by utilizing the trigger "if WiFi power is lower than 75%, then (lights off)".
3. To avoid notifications interfering when I use the camera, I have a routine that silences them whenever I open the camera app, of the DJI Mimo app (which, in itself, is triggered every time the Osmo Mobile connects to the phone).
I only use two routines
when I'm using youtube it turns on auto rotation
and when I'm at work it set the screen brightness to 60% and turn on wi-fi
and I got to say it really made the phone much easier to daily usage
400 Subs left til the silver play button!😁
Edit:
CONGRATULATIONS to 100k subscribers! You are one of the youtubers, who deserved it the most! Everytime, when I see your videos, time flies by and I am just fascinated on how much effort you put in your videos. You're natural and professional at the same time in your videos!😍👍
Well deserved 300K now, she's wholesome
A good one to use is when you're using certain apps or games, you can set your motion smoothness to standard. I like to use it for youtube and games.
Thanks for sharing! Very useful! I’ve purchased a few NFC tags cheap on Amazon ( I think it cost my £6 for like 15 of them) and when I scan one NFC tag as I leave the bedroom when I wake up, it will turn all my devices off > Tell me the weather > Open my ToDo List. I also have one stuck to my bedside table that will turn off my main light, turn the nightlight on and put the TV on
That's so huge! As a life time Apple guy, switched to the Samung eco system this year, this is... pew... more that mega huge! LOVE.IT. Thank you so much for this deep dive 🙌🏼
It's been a while since I watched video with this much info. Thanks it helped a lot and now I am gonna make some routines.
I love Bixby routines. I use them to silence my phone when I'm at work or at massage, and then to manage power and notifications at night. They work well! You've got a couple here in going to explore. Since the Android 10 update I keep having to enter my pin despite having trusted devices on (Active 2) or being at a trusted location. Maybe Bixby can help until they fix it.....
Before encountering this video, I never even considered using Bixby due to all of the negative reviews I've heard/read upon. However, after learning the variety of helpful features & true functionality that Bixby offers, I opted to experiment as well as follow this video's tutorial. Now, I finally know how to use some of Bixby's routines. I also know why Samsung created Bixby in the first place & further know Samsung's main purpose, albeit Bixby isn't prefect! But at least I can now finally use all of my Samsung devices simultaneously from its complete functionality right down to its fullest capacity!
Lastly, I'd like to take this opportunity to express how proud & happy I am knowing that you're a fellow Torontonian & thankfully still based in the there! Most Canadians have moved to the United States to either increase or maintain their UA-cam Channel. I emphasize this proudly because, through no fault of our USA neighbours (no disrespect), but Canadian UA-camrs can sometimes get tossed aside & overlooked comparatively to American-based UA-camrs. Undoubtedly, the competitiveness can corral a challenge & sometimes viewership can dwindle because, no offense, the majority of viewers tend to favour on the side of American-based UA-camrs, who usually transcends come upon attracting viewership amongst UA-camrs from other countries. Thus, proudly I support your Channel, howbeit your video contents & creations are off-the-chart fascinating; neither diffident or boring! So thanks Thao for this awesome review & informative tutorial, exceptionally aplomb!
I love Bixby routines fr, that thing saves me from my teachers who hate phones ringing in class, anytime “my school routine” is running, it’s just awesome, I don’t need to start doing stuffs myself, IT JUST WORKS
my favorite one is read out notifications and charging edge lightning and calls the edge lightning
You can do other things like location-based actions, have the phone do specific things when you unlock it (if you have multiple prints registered).
Right Thumb = Unlock
Left Thumb = Unlock phone and start Morning Routine
Etc...
The Bixby Routines seemed pretty tedious and I felt they were useless but this video explained them fantastically and I am now currently delving into how I can automate my digital life.
Young Lady your a Genius!!! I've had my phone (Samsung FE20) for just over a year and never knew this. I just upgraded to the S21 Ultra and can't wait till it arrives. Oh and I'm now one of your subscribers.
My favorite widgets I've made are for when I leave the house and when I return home. Leaving the house, my media volume is automatically set to 0%, and my sound profile is set to vibrate. I hate going into public (doctors, work, attempting to connect my BT...) and forgetting that my sound is on. My wifi is also auto-set to off unless I'm in a known place.
When I return home, everything above is undone. Voila!
A very useful video, I already tried Bixby routine but I didn't give it a chance, I didn't think that it could be this useful, thank you so much Thao!
Great video Thao . I truly enjoy watching your clips. You've motivated me to finally take a serious look at Bixby 🙂. You were my 2019 Tech UA-camr Of the Year 🙂
That title says it all. This is definitely Bixbys saving grace. Samsung should definitely pay you for doing their work.Really awesome job Thao...Subscribing right away.
I love that mechanical keyboard, but I can't afford it know 😂😭 maybe in a couple weeks, I really love it the way it looks like a old school keyboard

I can never forget the "Gassy butts" video but girl your videos are great.
Quality is good. Effort is good.
Doesn't hurt to see a beautiful face to a tech video..
You got yourself a subscriber.. 🙂
I've been using these routines and loving them the past year, and I learned even more uses with this video! Thank you Thao!
"everyone Bash on Bixby"
That alone got me subbed. So many other channel dismiss it.
In my experience, everyone Mozart on Bixby
I like the connected bluetooth one and the battery saver overnight one
You deserve 1 million subs❤❤👏👏
I second that
my favourite feature on my S10+ is Bixby routines: change sound mode, wifi and mobile data settings when im at home or at work, unlock device at home, or blue light filter+DND when open my reading app, etc...
Howdy Thao, you really light up my life with this handsome tutorial. Thanks a bunch and stay motivated for 2020 and beyond.
I basically don't switch on and off data, WiFi, rotate, Bluetooth etc just because of Bixby routines. I remember when I use to use tasker to automate the smartphone and it wasn't even close of what Bixby can do. Thanks for the video! You showed a really interesting way of using Bixby routines in apps edge!
Till now all I saw was hatred for bixby being not as good as google assistant. This is a bang. Most useful video ever for a Samsung smartphone user
Instead of button toggles, I use location, wi-fi, bluetooth connection or time instead. So the routines will on/off automagically. Very convenient! For screen on time I just say 'set the screen on for XX minutes/seconds'. Those who don't use Bixby are missing a lot. Bixby + Google Assistant made Samsung phones WAY superior than iPhone in terms of assisting your day.
Congratulation on getting(almost) 100K subs.....been here since 5k or so.
Appreciate the support 🙌
They need to add a feature like, IF this happens THEN we get pop up options or buttons to choose what to do like Siri Shortcuts allows.
thank you for not giving up on bixby haha as a samsung note user myself, I've trashed on bixby multiple times but it's still nice to see that we can appreciate it and improve upon! #nevergiveup
I remember a few years ago having to write RFID chips and stick them all over the place to get anywhere near this kind of functionality to be consistent. It was annoying though because I couldn't easily get out of "Car mode" if I was at someone else's house, and so ended up having to carry an RFID on a chain just to switch back when needed. RFID is cool but you're limited by having physical stuff all over the place, or carrying a keyring of labelled pads.
Until I viewed this video, I had not planned on using Bixby.
You've opened my eyes to what I was going to miss out.
Thank you.
I had completely disabled so Bixby functions... Your video persuaded me to give it a shot. Thanks
A very informative video thank you Thao !
Favorite routine is to make morning routine with Focus Mode. That shuts all distracting apps off, but maintains training, health, and productivity on
I find focus mode to be a solid idea, but if it isn't automated, it's useless for morning routines. However, with Bixby routine makes this useful.
You could make a video of this combination
Congratulations for 100K in advance. Love from PAKISTAN ♥️
Routines is able to Start an App(in specified time/conditions). But it DOES NOT Stop/Close Apps. There are conditions for Starting apps but No conditions to Stop/Close them. That Sucks 😐😭
I'm using Tasker since early 2013 when I had my furst Android phone - the S3 Mini. As I don't plan to root my Note9 when I get it Bixby Routines (or Routines from GoodLock if Bixby's aren't added to Android 10 for the Note9) is perfect! That's a feature every single phone should have built-in.
I use Bixby routines evertday lol. Especially when going to sleep and the smart features for sound. It is so useful especially at night. It even sends a quick reply and declines calls when i am at college by automatically detecting my location
Bixby is funny as hell if you set it to listen for the wake up word you can have fun with it. I can wake mine up by saying " Hey pigs feet" and he will wake up lol
I couldn't find how to use the Bixby routines on the edge panel. Seemed really legit.
In my opinion Bixby has been the most useful assistant, with the ability to controll the phone's apps or files.
I have it set so that if I open my phone and my headphones aren't connected and tik tok is opened it just automatically closes tik tok so that I don't blast my video for everyone in my class to hear 🤣
IMPORTANT
is there option to mic & camera access on off in Bixby routine
I hate that so many people crap on Bixby
I use Bixby everyday
I pray Samsung never gets rid of it
Wow. Samsung should hire you to explain all the features Bixby has. I had no idea this existed on my Note 10+. Thank you so much.
One simple one ive used is to set an alarm if ive over slept in the morning 😅 super useful. (For those wondering all u have to do is to check of charging -assuming u charge over night- connected to home wifi and past 8 o clock- or whatever time u need- and then have it run a bixby quick command that switches on an alarm or setting a short timer since that might also work)
That cut to "what?" had me cracking up 🤣
Mind blown! You are the only reviewer who has talked about any of these things.
They need to rename it like smart routines or something. Bixby is an instant turn off to most Samsung users lol. I know it took me almost a year before I even tried it out
I like using Bixby routines, for driving to work and once I get home. Recently discovered Bixby Meme Generator. Somewhat goofy, but kinda fun at the same time. Happy New Year Thao. ✌
I use Button Mapper(play store) . I can open Up Apps that I use Frequently just Using Buttons keys on my Samsung phone(like we open camera) . For eg. If I want to use UA-cam, I just double tap volume down to open it. If I want to use Twitter, I press and hold volume down, paste any text by press and hold back button. Similarly I open Evernote, WhatsApp, Gallery and File Manager just using the buttons on the phone! No need to Swipe and Scroll!
BXActions(play store) is Also Great Alternative!
Turning on do not disturb when I'm in school automatically is going to be such a help
I wish Samsung will add this feature to older galaxy phones with android 10🥺
Jamil Aboudaher download Routine from sammobile
@@mariannesuesli5680 I tried it, it's so limited compared to bixby routines.
I'm using a Note 9 and it doesn't seem to have it. SAMSUNG 😑😑 and I just recently updated their stupid Bixby
I *think* all samsung phones with android 9+ have this
@@didiervanleeuwen It's still exclusive to galaxy devices that came with one ui 1.1 out of the box.
Just to let you know , Sony has this feature for years , since Xperia S2
I like how you're still using the Galaxy Watch. Cool to see things getting their appreciation.
How do I add my bixby routines to my edge panel ?
Does this also works on Note 9 exynos???
Wow! now _that's_ a proper use of A.I. !
All it needs now is to link all those abilities from inside Bixby, for example "Bixby, keep my screen on for the next ten minutes!"
this is so exciting!
i've discovered bixby routines by accident, i've noticed that my phone disables the auto rotate at night time and it was pissing me off.. then i discovered that it says (bed time routine) so it doesn't rotate when i'm in bed and checking the phone lol i don't remember how did i activated it.
anyway when i opened bixby routines and explored it.. it was a new beginning for me
i hate it when i'm leaving home to work and i'm in a hurry i forget to turn off wifi and turn on mobile data.. or when i arrive at work after an hour i discover that my mobile data is off.
bixby routines and Dex are the best things ever
I used auto rotation control Pro for handling what can rotate and how. It's one of the biggest flaws of Android, and that app fixes it straight up. Totally worth the 2 or 3 bucks you pay for that app.
Nice to see a video show the usefulness of something instead of shutting it down without giving it a try. Good video and excellent quality.
If I hear Bixby I disregard whatever is said afterwards but being Thao, I had to listen to what you had to say.
Still useless features but I love your videos and hit the like button by muscle memory!
For those who are looking the way to have them in the edge panel like me. You need to search on Google "Widget Edge Panel" (I downloaded it from apkmirror), install it and then you can find the Widget Panel inside the Edge Panel menu, check it and now you can add any widget there.
No ads I respect that
Hello Thao. I just started setting up Bixby (which I was going to delete from my phone later today) while watching your UA-cam. It is awesome and better than I expected!!! Thanks for sharing the info...
I got a pixel, and it automatically plays the music when connected to Android auto and when I plug headphones in and I love it! seeing all these others makes me wanna get a Samsung for my next phone! I wanna get the s20 for the 120hz screen. U make great videos :)
damn that was super useful thank you .. i think ill use it to turn to vibration mode in class location or when connected to college wifi and turn off mobile data when connected to a wifi and turn on medium power saver mode when battery is below 30
5:50 . . . that's "Irona" from the old cartoon Richie Rich!!
Thanks Thao, always enjoying your videos. I also heavily use routines based on BT so I don't even have to touch my phone when I start driving. Brightness up to 50, wifi off, data on, play last podcast. Trying your ideas right now!
The first thing I did when I got my S10e was to turn off Bixby. But these features seem cool and I'll give it a try.
People like you and hayles world deserves a lot in doing these kinds of videos. Thank you!
How does this compare to Apple's shortcuts app?
Thanks! You explained it better then Samsung and the ppl that work at the Samsung store... lol. Keep up the great reviews :)
Some executive in Google: Guys get that phone and start reverse engineering bixby. Don't mention this to anyone.
I have a Galaxy Note 9, but dont use an Samsung account, so every Bixbybutton click opens it up. I now have disabled Bixby completely, so pressing the button does nothing. For these easy functions and shortcuts I use IFTTT (If this then that), which can also be used on other Android devices. It has similar functionality.
1:04 S Voice Sound when you say " Hi Galaxy"
What a great video. I can't wait to set these up :) The content of your videos is always so good, you should have way more subscribers!
Hey Thao, That was a really good video. I disabled bixby because it just seemed to much trouble and got crap dumped on it by others. But you really changed my mind on it and can see how damn handy this can be. Thanks soo much. Love your channel, keep smiling :)
I use Bixby routines! One for when my bluetooth connects to my car, it automatically turns media volume all the way up. I also have one for when I arrive at my office, it turns phone to mute and office wifi on. I have one for when Maps or Waze is open to turn location on and have location off otherwise
I'm impressed with your ideas.
I've just started using them on my S21 Ultra, combined with Android 12 I've eg got Fast charging on until 50% then normal to the new 85% cap - this really helps with battery life. Also just added one to turn 5G off at home.
The Routines side bar and eg disable screen timeout is great, will be adding this myself.
I just discovered your channel and you're amazing!
I didn't know Bixby could do these amazing things! Thank you!
Wow... Thanks for the tips. Was about to use it but felt that it will be another of those thing that I won't use anymore after a while... but it seems like a very convenient & automated to get things done on our phone. Thanks a lot.
I think you're kinda different with other so called tech reviewers. You really go deep and detail about the feature. Unlike some other so called tech reviewers that only copycat anothe tech reviewers.
Keep the great work !!!
Samsung should hire you not somebody else. This is seriously useful.
Love you Thao! 💛 I'm new to your channel, but got to admit, lovin me some Thao! 💕 Always on point with all the helpful tips! 👍 I learn so much eeverytime. Thanks for all you do! 💯 Keep the great content coming! And much success to you!
I use IFTTT. Basically the same thing but available for all android phones
1 minute in and I could not resist to like the video👌
Might have to enable Bixby again 😂😂😂 cause in all honesty these are really good!
