The 1974 season marked one of the first seasons of the longest running infield in Dodgers history: Ron Cey at third base, Bill Russell at shortstop, Dave Lopes at second base, and Steve Garvey at first base.
Billy Bucks was a GREAT hitter. Period. The Red Sox CHOKED in that 1986 WS, but of course he was the reason they lost (sarcasm). Idiots. RIP to a class act..
I think also in this game, or maybe the next game, Buckner is thrown out trying to stretch a double into a triple, with LA behind. Big play at the time I remember. Alston's last year managing the Dodgers. Watching Joe Ferguson sliding five feet left of second base, to break up a double play, now looks like an ejection with that rule change. Same with catcher's now not being able to block the plate, unless the throw takes them into the baseline. Both are great rule changes-no reason for allowing either one to continue in baseball.
Mike Marshall’s ex-wife Nancy wrote a book with Bobbie Bouton (Home Games) about their husbands and their lives during and after their careers. Nancy mentioned about Willie Crawford’s wife coming up to her and mentioning that some of the Dodgers wives didn’t like her husband Mike being married to a black woman because she wore an Afro and was independent?
Thanks for posting this game. Watching vintage games is helping me through this shelter in place time.
In 1974, Mike Marshall became the first relief pitcher to make 100 appearances on the mound, with 106. He won the Cy Young Award.
217 innings in religion and won 17

As vs dodgers 1974 and 1988 World Series was good I like to see my Astros and dodgers in another World Series
RIP Bill Buckner
Amen. Good man wrongly blamed for WS loss in 86.
RIP Bill Buckner #22
R.I.P. Captain Sal Bando.
And the quick shot of Chuck Scarborough at the very end tells us this was taped from WNBC-TV in New York City.
14:49 was Catfish's last pitch as an Oakland A.

10:00 How ironic, considering what would happen with Marshall and Joe Rudi in Game 5.
Best thing that can be said about the mausoleum is that you're leaving the dump.
Anyone know if that’s MC Hammer as a kid ball boy at 4:07 ?
14:49 RIP
3rd base ump = valet at swanky hotel
Man what a smooth DP to end the game @ 30:16
