Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak standard dropped a lot, compared to like 15 years ago. Back then they only open from night to 330am... then they start doing morning to 330am and that's when standard dropped a lot... i'm surprised no changi village nasi lemak and no adam road hawker center nasi lemak....
Agree. Ate it 10 years ago where I felt the Nasi Lemak was really good. Fast forward a few months ago, I tried it again, I was really disappointed. The standard dropped so much especially the rice.
Chinatown Mount Faber Nasi Lemak and Michelin Award Nasi Lemak Ayam Taliwang is my top two in Singapore. Others will be Lawa Bintang Lobster Nasi Lemak, Ponggol Nasi Lemak, 97 Nasi Lemak and finally atas one is Coconut Club Nasi Lemak. Crave Nasi Lemak is also my favorite due to chain stores available.
Alderic does a very good review of the nasi lemak stalls in Singapore. Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak is way too overrated in my opinion, maybe the people are for the nostalgia growing up buying from them. There's actually a legendary West side nasi lemak that you have to preorder and collect from the ahma on bicycle.
@@ChristineTohXH agreed… massively overrated and I was thinking exactly the same as you; the feeling of nostalgia of its frequent patrons got translated into the false sense of quality…
sorry but i would strongly recommend La Pona Snack Bar (Nasi Lemak) at Orchard Plaza! opens at 10pm only haha but whoever been there would definitely gives them thumbs up!
Looks very good Zermatt Neo. The fish I'd try I don't eat meat or eggs at all. Your friend was beautiful and looking ingredients very elegantly dressed.
Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak in Ang Mo Kio block 603 coffee shop is the bomb! The same family as Crave! Packets of nasi lemak fly off the shelves and they close in less than 5h!! They should be the Central rep!!
Ponggol Nasi Lemak at Capitol has fried soft runny eggs cooked perfectly! Used to eat there every week lol, it's like sinful treat though because the rice is quite oily (but delicious). You can also add other ingredients there (e.g. huge prawn) and it's one of those places where the extra ingredients dont feel unnecessary because they complement the dish very well.
Love your comparison s. Please do a comparison for the top 5 Hokkien mee. I'm an ex Singaporean and have been in Australia for about 30 years. Hard to find a good Hokkien me stall when I visit. Appreciate your help. 😄😄😄
Best nasi lemak is at Eunos MRT station hawker centre, Malay stall Epok Epok.... they're famous for curry puff and nasi lemak! And Amoy Street corner coffeeshop U
@@theotheotheotheotheotheotheo you know a hawker is the best and delicious when they can suka suka anytime open and close with no fixed hours, yet been around for 2 decades! Biz too good that's why 😅🤣🤣🤣👍🎉
Move on this stall are stupidly human do business. I have scold them and warned them no small change always. I scold the kaka if you not prepared small change of cash please don’t do your business. I guess how much they earn on the day and obviously they use off on the day
The best nasi lemak had to be in Jurong camp. 3rd div. Beside the Signal store. There is one weird corner where they sell nasi lemak. The chilli is superb.
There used to have 1 stall at previously golden shoe food place . Pandan green rice. Sambal also good. On the whole not bad. But now can't find that stall.
Actually pak mandor used to taste even better a few years back with stronger coconut taste in the rice. Nowadays their rice is not as fragrant. Anyway I didnt watch the whole thing but have to agree choosing spicy wife which is ayam penyet style priced at $6.5 isn't fair comparison to the other stalls 😅 Other stalls probably about $4 with a small chicken wing
Maybe should also have those non halal nasi lemak. If you really so into fish, die die must eat Yi Liu Xiang Nasi Lemak at Hougang Hainanese Village Centre. Their fish and ikan bilis is the best I had eaten so far (Note that I don't really take fish except for their). Chilli is good too. Open at 6.30am and queue already form by then.
Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak rice is not as fragrant as the rest because I think they have substituted the coconut milk with coconut oil. Supposedly it's a healthier option... But the standard has dropped a lot.
U should try Blk 848 Broadway coffeeshop at Yishun..they have runny egg, very well fried fish and the chicken wing is da bomb..to me,THAT store beats the pak mandor one though it is not halal..u will thank me😊 later.
Zermatt my man, it's Nasi Ler mak. Not Lo mak... 😂 Always a pleasure to see you using your hands to eat. I agree with Annette that the best yellow fried fish is the one that you can eat whole. Even the head.
Spicy Wife's rice wasn't that fragrant to me though. But the chicken and sambal was great. Anyone has recommendations for the really old school strong lemak rice taste?
thumbs up for u guys to share all this good nasi lemak.. btw no offence, i do like annette but this episode just dnt hv the wow seeing u eat.. maybe bcoz too early thats why no hype..
Hi All, there is a muslim food stall at Blk 353 Clementi Food Centre, Stall #01-60 Aishah Lee Muslim Food, apparently our ex-PM visited there before. Their Nasi Lemak is not too bad.
There are so many nicer nasi lemak around.. for eg. Instead of boonlay nasi lemak. You should try the 2 chinese nasi lemak stalls within boonlay market. Easily better by miles
my kind of nasi lemak should have the following 1. white color rice with very mild of lemak taste 2. sambal have to be savory and super spicy 3. peanuts and anchovies have to be freshly made and got the smokey smell 4. egg and timun is a must 5. and fish is optional
Different people different taste. Still prefer the Nasi lemak at Tanjong Pagar hawker Center the best I ever had. But the old couples closed down already.
Honestly there are far more better affordable yet delicious nasi lemak stalls than all the 4 stall except for maxwell stall. And i used to have boon lay nasi lemak since late 90s.. But honestly now since past years their standard drop terribly and there's no consistency at all. A dish should made with love and dedication to attract customers. 😊
Unfortunately, this isn’t quite a fair review. Spicy Wife should not be compared to the other 4 given that you guys even claimed it’s different styled (aka Malaysian styled). The other 4 stalls are towards more local Malay styled Nasi Lemak, hence if the 5th stall chosen was one that’s similar, it would make this review more just.
They should also visit each stall on the same day and time. It will show at what state the food is. In addition, getting the food incognito will help with the fairness.
Alamak There will always be good n bad comments lah. Take it like a pinch of salt, ok ??? Anyway, thanks for this really good video. Will try out some of the stalls featured.
Not a fair judgment to select Spicy Wife when the budget is $5 per person and the two had to share a plate. Also, if there's gula melaka in the rice, won't the colour of the rice be slightly darker or brown? 🤨 Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak is is overrated. The standard has plummeted a bit. Of course, if you're within Jurong area and hungry, it would be a go-to to satisfy your hunger pangs. Anyways, this is a subjective matter. For me, the Nasi Lemak that I fancy for some time is Latiffa Huri located at Blk 497 Jurong West St 41. The aromatic rice, the balanced sambal, and crispy chicken wing. They're closed on Sundays & Mondays. The stall is always flocked with customers.
The best in the west is not Boon Lay Power Nasi Lemak.Boon Lay Power Nasi lemak is so overrated. The best in the west is Latifa Huri Nasi Lemak.....And you can add sotong sambal, prawn sambal and Kupang there...
Winner spicy rice should not be included in this review as their cheapest is > $5/- not within the price range. More suitable to compare it with Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak (#01-02) Adam road as their cheapest set is $6.5
I stay in Yishun and I feel that Pak Mandor is massively overrated. It’s very average at best, plenty of other better nasi lemaks in Yishun 🙈 You’ll should try Ho Yeah! Nasi Lemak at Blk 317 Yishun; amazingly fragrant rice and superb sambal that packs a decent punch… Another hotspot will of course be the OG Chong Pang Nasi Lemak along Sembawang Road; best chicken wings in Yishun by a mile…

Runny egg yolk is not safe to be left on display for awhile, think it’s part of food safety. So maybe that’s why most stalls will cook it through.
