- Tribute to the best tactician in the galaxy, Grand Admiral Thrawn.
The images I used as well as the fananimations are not my property, they belong to their respective onwers.
Music: Sabaton - The Art of War
Footage: Star Wars: Rebels, Empire At War: Forces of Corruption, Fanart (amazing how our fandom produces things), Heir to the Empire comicbookseries, Tie-Fighter.

Thrawn : I am the Art of War
Thrawn, the officer the Empire calls when they want to actually get shit done.
Cody Connor he’s the equivalent of the republic commandos for the empire
If Vader is the Emperor's right hand then Thrawn is the Left.
Vader and thrawn, the best team in tactics
"War. I study the art of war... I work to perfect it."-Daddy Thrawn
Grand Admiral thrawn was my favorite all-time character ever since I first read him an heir to the Empire. This man did not need the force to be a badass
And that's the coolest thing about him: His only gimmick is simply being a soldier and an scarily competent one.

Grand Admiral Thrawn, the Sun Tzu of Star Wars.
Indeed.
What I love about Thrawn is, he is in no way a evil hearted person in legends, same goes for Tarkin before palpatine had his son killed, he was just a man dedicated to a cause he saw was just and reasonable. I hope that disney dosent pull a full grevious on him and remove all sympathy and make him generic villian number 1 of the season.
Sun Tzu and Horatio Nelson Admira twol in one!!!!!
Not just Sun Tzu, but every best generals in the world could account for. Alexander, Hannibal, Tran Hung Dao, Napoleon, Nelson, Rommel...
Disney good a really great job with Thrawn in Rebels.
Most Imperials when they get defeated: Noooo!!! I was supposed to win!!
Thrawn when he gets defeated: Well played, Rebels.
He has respect, not ego

we need a thrawn movie
Admiral Thrawn. Years ago you served us fans in the Expanded Universe. Now we beg you to help us in our struggle against Disney. I regret that I am unable to convey this request to you in person, but my ship has fallen under attack by the Feminist Order, and I'm afraid my mission to bring you to the silver screen has failed. I have placed information vital to the survival of the Fandom into the memory systems of this UA-cam comment. My brothers and sisters will know how to decipher it. You must see this comment safely delivered to them on Wookieepedia. This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Grand Admiral Thrawn. You're my only hope!
@@Grubnar amen
I'm down for a Thrawn movie... as long as Disney/Lucasfilm doesn't make it. I wouldn't trust them with an Ewoks movie at this point. They'd find some way to make Ewoks "Woke" and SJW everything up.
@@MDMetal its a war film then we should hire steven Spielberg or besson
+creative name Yes. Either one of them would do a great job. For a straight up war movie, Spielberg would be perfect. If we want some humor in it, get Besson instead.
"I will win but never fight" - people still don't get this and talk shit on how Thrawn plays the long game ....
Like half of the Imperial navy during the reign of Palpatine.
Can you explain the meaning of the quote please?
Chellix oh ok, so he’s basically saying, he’s won before the battle starts because of his plan which he had planned maybe months or years ago, and his plan is going well, all the events he wanted to happen have happened, so there won’t be a fight, or he would have won the battle before it starts, right?
@@Toix Sun Tzu suggests the supreme art of war was to subdue the enemy without fighting. This has been intepreted differently throughout history. The most logical one I've read is to strike your enemy while they are still in the process of mobilizing their resources and preparing for war, so they are unable to fight back, or at least adequately.
Such a strategy relies heavily on very reliable intelligence assets. If you are unable to achieve sufficient strategic and tactical advantige through information gathering, the next step should be to form alliances, and if possible subvert those of your enemy ( or even secretly turn them ) to decicively diminish their power in order to make them think twice about going to war with you.
In essence, you've theoreticaly already won the war, before you even engage in fighting.
If you do however, you have a clear advantige over the enemy and might win very quickly and preferably with little loss of life on both sides.
@@Toix The first is more in tune with him suggesting "Supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy’s resistance without fighting."
But essentialy what he is saying by subduing the enmy without a fight, is to prevent a fight in the first place through supreme intelligence gathering and amassing so much power through economy, alliances etc, that clear dominance is established through intimidation, and a war prevented.
I'm actually glad there are some nods to the Expanded Universe in Star Wars Rebels. Introducing Thrawn was an excellent move on their part.
Indeed, i pissed myself when i heard him for the first time
Thanks to Dave Filoni to introduced in The Canon of Star Wars Rebels.
"Killing" him was a terrible part tho
@@sgtreznov6525 he shall return

Being a huge fan of art, Thrawn would approve of this video and song.
This song fits Thrawn Perfectly
This song fits perfectly with Thrawn's character in Star Wars
LANG LEBE DAS IMPERIUM
to think that if sidious had put thrawn in charge of the fleet at endor the rebellion probably would have been crushed
There's no "probably" about it. They had to send him to the outer rim instead because the Rebels had Plot Armor.
@@MDMetal or because when the movie was made the character wasn't invented but yeah he would certainly win or cause so much casualties in the rebellion that in the end the Empire would win the war
+Themistocle stratège I'm so sorry to hear about your sense of humor. How did it die?
@@MDMetal it never actually born (sorry I don't know how to formulate that sentence)
Sidious,Vader,Thrawn,Tarkin if all 4 where on the opposing side at the same time the empire would dominate eternally.
Alright, WHO DARED TO DISLIKE THIS MASTERPIECE?!?
Probably C'baoth, that old, twisted bastard...
Or those pesky rebels.
Skypeon They are too scared to dislike this
More like they have too much respect for the guy. And I should know, I'm a Rebel myself. XD
Seriously though, I probably would've never joined the Alliance if the Empire had been run by resonable and decent people like Trawn from the beginning. But with genocidical maniacs like Palpatine or Tarkin in charge...
Alexander Sturnn the empire uses fear to rule that's why its strong enough to protect the galactic and citizens
Necromant And that's also why we got so much support over the years and eventually overthrew them.
The Tarkin Doctrine ("Obedience through Fear") was Bullshit. Thrawn and other Imperial Leaders after Endor were smart enough to realise that and to make the necessary reforms, forming the Empire into what it should've been from the beginning.
this is so good i come back to this for so many years now. Long live the Empire. Long live Thrawn
Perfect song for him.
also considering that Thrawn was inspired by the Eastern philosopher Shun Tzu who Wrote the "Art of War"
also the Name of the song that Sabaton made.
the Force works in mysterious ways.
I know, that's why I used it :)
mikey kean it's Sun Tzu, firstly, secondly the opening excerpt is a quote from Sun Tzu's book The Art Of War, Sabaton made the song stating how Sun Tsu lived his life as a warrior philosopher
mikey kean I noticed your profile picture is that of Primus and Unicron.
Well he was mainly inspired by Sherlock Holmes, Hannibal and Rommel.
Sun-Tzu would be proud...
The admiral looks good in white and this and threatens web fit him perfectly.
If Palpatine thinks 2 steps forward, Thrawn thinks 10 steps.
Are you suggesting that building a giant death ball designed by a guy who hates the Empire, and then building another one to replace it that has the same design flaw only BIGGER, aren't perfectly sound strategic decisions?
Be very careful how you answer. The Emperor isn't as fond of hearing alternative suggestions as I am.
The Second Death Star was under construction, so it had vulnerabilities. If you are referring to the exhaust port when you say design flaw, the first Death Star's exhaust port was only six feet wide, making it difficult for a trained marksmen to hit the target, and the amount of exhaust would have pushed out the proton torpedoes if the shot had been made by someone who was not a force user. The chain reaction is the design flaw.
the greatest tactician in fiction.
Großadmiral Thrawn ist Brillant
Er ist der größte Taktiker der Galaxie
@@conornorton1183 grand admiral but yes
Thrawn approved
But.... It was so artistically done.......... (Dies) {might be slightly misquoted}
I'm not a huge fan of rebels, but they did an excellent job with Thrawn. The guy makes other leaders look like toddlers in comparison!
Cameron Spangler i want to see thrawn show up in one of the movies
That would be AWESOME!
Cameron Spangler that’s just what thrawn dors
+Commander Prophet At this point, unfortunately, Disney/Lucasfilm would only use Thrawn as ticket-bait for Ep. IX. They'd have to dumb him down enough to be beaten, and with the current crop of "rebels" in this new trilogy, they'd have to make Thrawn a drooling idiot to accomplish that. Maybe if Ruin Johnson hadn't killed off Admiral Ackbar, he could've had a worthy adversary...
I prefer to remember Thrawn as the ultimate badass he was, rather than as a puppet that Disney uses to put butts in seats.
@@MDMetal or he intentionally messed up so he could avoid the inevitable question
He's so cool.
One Nerd95 He is Real daddy and Kalani is second real Daddy
Once upon a time, James Woods would have made the perfect Thrawn
Great admiral thrawn/mitt'raw nurudo the real master of warfare
I'm pretty sure, Thrawn would have every word of Sun-Tzu's work memorized.
Along with every other aspect of Chinese culture and art.
Good work Lord Vader
Grand Admiral Thrawn would be happy!
The biggest badass in SW is an entirely non-force-sensitive battlefield genius. As a Warhammer 40k fan, I can respect that
"But... it was so artistically done."
The vids from the Thrawn's Revenge Mod was a nice touch, though I noticed one of the Star Destroyers had the red mark meaning they're part of the Crimson Command led by the Kosh Brothers, not Thrawn.
You should do a remake of this now that their is more footage for Thrawn from Rebels series.
Grand Admiral Thrawn is my favourite Star Wars character , ever. Thank you so much for this Vader your work is just ....perfect!!!
Thanks! :)
happy new year:)
To defeat an enemy you must know them. Not simply their battle tactics but their history, philosophy, art.
1. This video introduced me to Sabaton.
2. Anyone else think the opening voice sounds like Hera?
Joseph Simpson guess most sabaton fans are introduced by random people using their music to some vids about something completely different.
In Thrawn's case, it's "knowing the ART of the ennemy" in general. ^^
This dude almost crushed the rebel group in Star Wars Rebels except his subordiates didn't listen to him. This dude could've ruled the universe.
such a fitting song.
;)

Thank you my Lord.
This song perfectly matches me.
501st Infantry division at your service sir
Pavel Šebek What are your orders, Grand Admiral?
Finally gotten around to listening to the Heir to the Empire Trilogy on audio. Every time Thrawn showcases his tactical genius, I start playing this song.
Thrawn is the epitome of badassery
Dang you are the master at assigning songs though
sababton, thrawn and star wars in one video, thats enough bad ass to build three death stars
imagine if Thrawn make it trough ranks all up to Grand Mof. the emperor would finish puting Tarkin back to Stormtrooper rank at how moron is compared to Thrawn
i can feel those eyes, PEERING INTO MY ART COLLECTION!
Thrawn, Sun Tzu, Sabaton... absolute art...
I'd say best Strategist. Epic vid in any case.
Thrawn : The Sun Tzu of Star wars
Great choice of usic. My favorite SW character + one of my favorite bands, what's not to like?
Grand Admiral Thrawn was the awesome Star Wars villain ever!
Yep! :)
In a sense Thrawn was not entirely a villain. In the novels (non canon sadly) he was regarded very highly by those who served under him rewarding those who showed intelligence and initiative while removing the weak from his command. This differs entirely from Vader and the Emperor who often killed many simply out of spite. Thrawn was a Chiss and as such, literally born a warrior. You can imply he served the Empire simply because it was the stronger in his opinion. More ships, more men, and a stronger cast of leaders. I could have seen him become a Rebellion General, he would led them to victory very quickly possibly avoiding the disasters at places like Yavin, Hoth, and Endor. The only alien to have ever been awarded the title of Grand Admiral, he strived to be the best, and was the best, it is sad they wrote him out way too early in the saga.
+Deathstrike_YT Thrawn (in legends) teamed up with the Empire for its power but not simply because they were stronger.
thrawn had met and faced the Vong and knew they were fucked without a solid force to fight back. He aided with the Empire because he believed they were the only ones capable of stopping the Vong.
and he was right.
although the new republic won in the end, it was recognized as the bloodiest war in galactic history. which is saying something considering it was a 4year war in a galaxy that had a war that had lasted 1,000 years in the past
I love Thwan I love Empire I love this song I love this video Lord Vader very nice job.
Grand Admiral Thrawn is the Sun Tzu of Star Wars.
thrawn is clearly the most badass in SW
General Veers is the Rommel of the Star Wars universe, and Thrawn is Horatio Nelson
Even more fitting that Veers was betrayed by his superiors and Thrawn was killed aboard his Flagship.
Veers is no Rommel. He loves the AT-AT so much that he hid its weakness from records and sent a very talented cadet to the Stormtrooper Corps because the cadet realized the walker’s weakness.
Veers is a talented officer, but he’s no Rommel.
Nelson? More like Admiral Yi Sun-sin.
i didnt expect sabaton but it fits
Holy Shit Sun Tzu would be best pals with Thrawn
Much of his character and philosophies were based on Sun Tzu.
I have studied the art of war worked to perfect it
Great job. Thrawn is so cool, my new favorite character
Awesome video, everything just fits into place!
He could have been how the First Order became so powerful...a shame.
I love Thrawn and Sabaton 😳😬😃
Such artistically done...
the greatest military leader the empire ever had
I'm so happy someone made this haha
the other song fitts well for Thrawn is Breathing Theory Empire.
That’s the Art of War!
WONDERFUL
:)
Love the use of teh EaW scenes. Good work!
Terrific!
Admiral "Sun Tzu Rommel Nelson" Thrawn.
haha youve Put sabaton and Star wars together 😂 great
Honestly, Thrawn is hands-down one of, if not the most intimidating and scary Star Wars villains, even by sith standard (only judging what's canon but I'm sure he's as fearsome or even more so in legends)
sabaton. my favirites music's
i cannot wait to see Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Mandalorian Season 3, Ahsoka Tv Series, and the Climatic Event of the Mandoverse. this song is make well for Thrawn. 🤘👍
And i hear a News of Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau plans to make a Event Movie of Heir Of The Empire For Disney Plus in The Mandoverse. If The rumor it's true that Will be mind blowing. And awesome and Incredible. But For The Canon of course. And i liked Legends Heir Of The Empire. But i cannot wait For that Movie Event on Disney Plus. And i hope to see Mara Jade again but For Canon. Thank you Lord Vader. 🤘👍😀😃😊
