    I lost a ton of weight, and my doctors just gave me ensure and told me to eat more. Found fat malabsorption, said I was more prone to allergies, but didn't even address it. Healthcare really sucks

    All of my stools used to sink but I switched to a mostly ketogenic sometimes carnivore diet and developed stools that always float. I cut back on so much fat and added more veggies for fiber but they all still float. I am guessing I have fat malabsorption. They are usually dark colored but smelly and sticky stools. I am worried. I am always gassy too. I am 55 yrs old and prediabetic. I have a 1.4 cm pancreatic cyst and still have my gall bladder. What should I do?

    What happens when you have complete loss of oral tolerance? I can't eat a single vegetable or fruit without getting SEVERE symptoms that land me in the ER. I eat a carnivore diet because of it and now I'm not digesting fats. This is a living hell. I can't eat anything and now I'm severely hypothyroid and the minute I miss a meal my heart rate drops into the 40s and have worse hypo symptoms. I'm not absorbing any nutrients.

      Heathy PE-1 levels should be above 500! 50 is very VERY low an indicate more advance state of pancreatic insufficiency or damage to pancreas. Sometime chronic inflammation of pancreas. You will also often see problems with blood sugar regulation as part of the pancreas job is to produce insulin as well. In more advanced stages, you start to see Diabetes and prediabetes. Such a great video, thank you old sport.
    I'm just trying to figure out what my issue is! I wonder if you could extrapolate anything from my symptoms?
    I suffer relatively little with symptoms overall and when I say that, I mean they're mild but still very much present. I sometimes have bloating, cramps and gas. I have slimey, fatty stools with an oily film sometimes present on the water's surface. I've lost a fair amount of weight over the last year despite no huge changes in diet or activity. Yes, I have gone vegan in that time but I still eat very healthy and a healthy amount - in fact, I am trying to gain weight but it's proving very difficult even with eating a large number of calories - we're talking 3500+. I did manage to gain a few kilograms recently but I seem to have a problem with an inability to gain muscle despite a sound training program, I'm mostly gaining fat and ultimately feel weak and often tired during the day. A combination of these symptoms has led me to suspect I have malabsorption of some sort, the form my stools are taking suggesting to me that it is of fat. On top of that. I recently had blood and stool sample tests of which everything was said to be fine! But I plan to ask them to give me more details on this. Thanks for your time

    • @DrRichardHagmeyer
      @DrRichardHagmeyer  4 роки тому +3

      There is no doubt you have malabsorption and likely damage to the small intestines. When this happens you have problems to the brush border which release enzymes that aid in digestion of carbohydrates (disaccharides). Work with a doctor who knows what to look for and how to test you- there are many potential problems and consequences to your health can be severe. Contact my office if you need help.

    I have Crohn’s disease, I’ve also had my gallbladder removed due to stones and 5 years ago I had 52cm of my small bowel removed due to Crohn’s disease. Since my bowel resection I have now been diagnosed with sever bile acid malabsorption. I’m literally housebound. I go to the loo anywhere from 7 - 20 times per day and it’s like liquid acid and burns like hell every time I go the loo….I take bile acid sequestrants but they Dont help much and are disgusting 🤢.
    I’m literally at the end of my tether with it all and now I’m having more tests done as I have another 4cm patch of inflammation due to Crohn’s that just isn’t going away with steroids and immunosuppressant medication, so I may need more surgery…. I want a bag……only thing that worries me about getting a bag is, is it going to be just as painful coming out of a stoma like it is coming out of my bum 😖

    Hey Doc thank you for this video and information.
    About a year ago (after not being sick for almost a decade) I got a stomach virus where food turned me off and I had for push myself to eat regularly. Once I got better I started devleoping a patchy tongue(GT) that would be painful with any acidic foods and sometimes it just throbs on the right side of my tongue even with avoiding acidic foods. I saw a naturopath, eleminated dairy/gluten/sugar while taking lots of supplements to "heal my gut" for 7 months and the patchiness visibility looked better but til this day I still feel pain on my tongue with the same diet. I do believe it's related to my gut since anytime I deviate from my strict diet like when I ordered had chicken wings( possibly the gluten in sauce and wings) or ribs (possibly tomato or gluten in sauce) I end up with painful diarrhea for 2-3 days where it burns. I'd be writing for hours if I told you how much I've done to get to the bottom of this issue but I feel all I've done just makes me scared/hesitant to try different foods or even order out ever. It's a very isolating feeling and every time you express yourself to the people around you, you're just like a broken record. They say to get tested for celiac you need to be consistently eating it for it to show up on your blood test and I just can't afford to start eating gluten if it's going to make me sick or make my tongue pain get worse. Sorry for the long post, much love for reading.

    Actually to cure fat absorption or ibs you have to start taking fat.
    I happens due to eating less fat. Less bile. Less cleaning hence sibo.
    Eat ghe animal butter etc virgin oil.
    Not fatty food. Right now.
    Slowly train your body to digest fat again.
