Thanks a lot Ash for your time and great review of our equipment deck ! I hope you have as much fun using it as we had while designing and playtesting it ! :) About your armour question in the video: It actually works as designed: some armour types replace more dice with Power Dice than they add (for example the Chainmail gives +1 defence dice but also has 2 green Power Dice, this allows you to replace some of the 'basic' defense dice that each character has on their character card with Power Dice) If you ever encounter a situation where you are replacing "more" dice with Power Dice than you actually have it is up to the player which Power Dice he chooses. But you can never end up with more dice by replacing. The rule is: 1. count how many attack/defense dice you can roll 2. replace any of those dice with power dice according to your cards (but by replacing you can never end up with more dice that you had in step 1)
Cool! Awesome! Really love creature 3rd party contents. Have several myself including Advanced Armory Treasure and Potions deck amongst others. Btw, 09:57 is not a khopesh.
I'd like to at some point soon. But power (or "german" or any other alternate face type) dice are simple - they aren't in the official rules, but can be used with homebrew mechanics like these cards to give different results possibilities to the rolls of monsters and heroes during attack and defense. There are a few different sellers who have heroquest alternate face dice.
This is correct, the deck is designed to replace the weapons from the base game as well. These weapons also got keywords assigned to them so the existing items are not left behind. Also this way you can just use this deck in an ongoing campaign by just replacing the cards the heroes already have in their possession by their counterparts from this deck.

Seeing the price of this deck, I shudder to think what a full set of Power Dice will cost. I hope they have a “all-in” package of the cards and dice at some sort of small discount.
I think if you are going to go the route of power dice you should just switch to standard d6. Give a #+ to hit and a #+ to defend. For example the standard to hit roll for heroquest is 4+, and a hero defends on a 5+, monsters 6+. Then you remove the fittling with finding the right power dice and these odds can be easily adjusted through what ever game mechanics you want.
You're right, and I think very little beats a D6 which could just be used as a regular combat die as well. I think we love our combat dice because of the visuals which remain simple, and the variants keep the simplicity with simple color changes.
@AshQuest i agree, I like the combat dice myself for that quick visual recognition. It keeps your head out of the numbers and focused on the results. Use to play a lot of warhammer, both fantasy and 40k and constent focus on the numbers needed to hit, to wound and to save pulls you the action. The simplicity of the combat dice is a big appeal of heroquest for me and keeps the going at a good pace. That is why I'm 50/50 on the power dice, while I like the visual appeal I wore looking for and making sure you have the right combination of dice will slow down the pace of combat.
Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry you feel this way. Production and overseas shipping are very expensive indeed, but if you compare it with other decks which have less cards in them you will see the price per card is very similar. 75 cards is a lot !
Expensive, sure that's fair. "Extortion" is inaccurate. As a player and collector, I completely feel your frustration over cost. That said, individual and boutique creators do not get the benefit of large production runs like the big corporations. Most of us have to rely on print-on-demand services (which have little to no return), while some bite the bullet and pay for small-batch production. These are wildly expensive and often a dangerous financial risk to the creator. Hard to pass on savings in an economy where there is none. :/
Really would like to get these cards. They fit the game so well, but it's a shame they use power dice. Without power dice a lot of these items don't do anything special. Power Dice currently are sold out and I can't find any alternatives at the moment.
Well I just found an easy alternative. Just use a movement die (d6) and keep a chart on standby of the power dice. So the Dirk uses a black power die. Roll a d6 then look at the black power die on the chart. Easy.
I can assure you that the bulk of extra gameplay comes from the keywords and their combinations and you don't need Power Dice at all to enjoy this deck. :)

I'm a big fan of Nehekharan's Homebrew works, great deck!
Thanks HonODall !
The feeling is mutual, your cards & scenarios are also of a very high quality !
Just ordered this deck! Can’t wait to put all my sets of power dice to good use! They have been gathering dust 😊
Fetch the treasury. I need some equipment

As always, thank you and great product review! Definitely like these cards as well as the power dice add on!
Sounds great. If only I could find a source for all the various power dice.
There are a few different kinds from various sites, but the creator of this will have them on his etsy soon-ish.
@@AshQuestI shudder to think of the price of a full set.
GET TO THE ORC CHOPPA!
Could you do a Quick Video on Power Dice? Is there an overview somewhere?

It looks alot of the weapons are the same in the base HQ game. Feel like would replace the armoy as a whole.

Hope they come out with some clarifications about the armor.

cc @AshQuest :)
My question is if you're using the great warhammer and wearing the hide vest how many goats can fit in your living room?
RAW if the living room is the center board tile and each goat is 1x2 then 15
Great

This is the case. When my Power Dice are finished I will for sure offer a bundle with the deck + dice + dice tray.
Is there a power dice bundle
Watch the etsy page - we may see such a bundle once his power dice are ready.
Not yet, but when my Power Dice are finished I will for sure offer a bundle with the deck + dice + dice tray.
@Nehekharan That would be great. Keep me posted if you can.
Where did you get your map from Ash

I want Ash dice
Seems similar to Orc Quest's gear.
More loot cards is always great; however, $49 + $17 shipping for 75 cards is extortion..
