    This rod went from $550. To $675.00. Talk about inflation. Wow. $125.00 jump. Like seriously.

    Great review! I definitely agree with your opinions of the rod, do you think you could do the echo epr and sage pulse?

    Always enjoy Ben's reviews. I picked up a 7wt Maverick yesterday for light salt and streamer work. Very simple, yet beautiful rod - Actually almost identical in appearance to the old Sage Salt. Looks to be about the same weight as well. Would make for an interesting side-by-side comparison.

    Hi Ben. Do you think the Maverick 7wt would make a good freshwater streamer rod? If so, which floating- and sink tip lines would you recommend? For the sink tip, I am specifically interested in your thoughts on how it would handle a 200gr or 250gr head.

    Excellent review! Can the maverick handle lines like intouch striper or sa titan for distance casting the surf?

    Compared to the payload, which one is better for big flies? Lookig for a new rod for golden dorado here in argentina! Great review as usual btw

      The Payload is specifically designed for large flies and sinking lines... it's a rod that's beefier and faster with a stronger butt section for lifting heavy fish. The Maverick is a little more refined.

      Hey! For BC salmon and steelhead, in the 8wt models, which would you recommend?

    @ trident Fly fishing, How well does this rod match up with a Sage Spectrum Max 9/10 Reel? Looking for a solid setup for salt water. Thanks

    Gonna make a suggestion - its probably not the BEST idea to test an 8WT Saltwater rod with a Lamson Liquid. I've noticed this in several reviews. Most saltwater-centric guys will tell you a light reel will work against you even when casting light rods, you want an anchor at the bottom of the rod to liven up the tip action and not wear your wrist out. I'd suggest since you guys are dealers to just use A Galvan Torque T-8 as the test reel for your 8's, it's kindve in the sweet spot of not being too heavy for light rods and not being to light for heavy rods at about 7.6oz. just my 2C.

    with this rod at around 675 now, do you think it's still a good value with other offerings?

    • @Tridentflyfishing
      @Tridentflyfishing  Рік тому

      Yes. Especially when most other mid-price rods have jumped up in price. However, if you're after an 8wt, nothing competes with the Atlas regarding value and performance.

    ok mixed opinions about their saltwater rods...so here is my opinion..after fishing 33 countries 9 islands in the bahamas and 100-200 days a year on the water for 35 years..there is still no other company id rather use..This is without a doubt theeeee best mid priced rod there is...all depends on who talk to about opinions..id only ask an FFI.. CCI their opinion..all others barely know what the difference is..ive worked in the industry for almost 40 years and have only had 4 clients that could tell me the difference..Ive entrusted their good products above the Arctic Circle and as far South as Ushaiia TDF patagonia for weeks at a time..to 100 degree humid jungles..all have performed without flaw...too many experts without experience to know the difference

    Sage is like the Apple computer of fly rods. Sure It's good quality, but there are better rods out there for less.
