Dean Diaz, they changed their name because an English band took up the same name I heard. Blood Sports is a classic album.

Peavy just keep doing his masterpiece job...just with the name "Rage",and in the same musical way...obviously you don't followed Rage from the same beginnings...With a "Rage" trademark and Soundchaser head logo,he created a true iconic german band,as we know it today...Hail and salute to Peavy from Serbia,Belgrade!

They just changed the name because some other band already was named "Avenger". The name of the band has nothing to do with their sound. Honestly, I think Rage's masterpieces are "Perfect Man", "Trapped" and "The Missing Link".
