"Perhaps I should make my way out there-" *Pauses to stab a crab* "... And see what this local legend is all about" Lmao how playing as the character of the narration
Every NPC in Oblivion throws their food around like that, and if you try to pick up a single piece of bread to put back on the table the entire town will maul you to death lol
@@GinaRanTruthEnforcer fists work. Ghosts have a 100% resistance to normal weapons. And fists don't count as normal weapons. They're also 100% resistant to poison. But you could use magic to convince them that they aren't resistant to poison (see Baron's Castle "Oblivion with poison only" run)
Given that ghost tourism is a thing in the real world I like to imagine the citizens of Bravil being mad at you for getting rid of a potential tourist attraction. “Great job Hero of Kvatch, trying to see that ghost was the only reason anyone was coming to this dump of a city. Now that you solved the mystery no one comes here anymore. We were already poor but now we’re double poor. You killed our only industry.”
Yay new Dash!! I have fond memories of this quest. When I was a kid playing this, it just seemed so cool. It’s one I remember doing for the first time. Thank you for covering it!
I started watching these videos recently, and I'm really happy to have some new Oblivion content. They're great for cleaning or reliving one of my favorite games. I clicked on this one, thinking it was months old and I was surprised to see it was only 10 hours old! It feels like he's getting better and better at narrating!
I remember finding the ghost by accident. I had no idea what his words meant until I looked up a guide. Finding the ship, it was then i learned that ghosts can only be damaged by silver or enchanted weapons. Had to put off finishing the quest for the longest just to find the right equipment to complete it
I always love doing the side quests. It took me around ten years to eventually get around to completing the main quest as I got caught up in the side quests and the guilds. Also, there is nothing more Oblivion/Skyrim than the flying food. Always makes me smile. Thank you for keeping that in.
That ship was horrifying my first time doing this quest on my first play through, I should mention that I was Level 25 and this was my first time encountering wraiths…
The forlorn watchman scared me as a kid. My house was quite the hub for ghost activity at the time we lived there, and even hearing the rumors around Bravil scared me. I avoided that town like that plague for years 😂
I wonder how an actual ghost of someone who died 80 years ago would react to video games. "HOLY FUCK THAT'S MORE SUPERNATURAL THAN I AM, AND I CAN THROW A FORK WITH MY MIND!"
Legit one of my favorite video game stories of all time. I never even knew it started with rumors, I accidentally came across the ghost one day, took me years to figure out he was leading me to something because he would disappear at dawn, until I finally caught him looking out at the river, swam across and found the wreck. This is the first story I tell people when I explain why Oblivion is my favorite Bethesda game of all time. This is the first time I've ever seen any of this extra mission stuff at the start. I've never even heard him talk (other than at the end of the quest)
Lets go! New oblivion video! Keep up the amazing work! I absolutely love your stories and show them to my friends :) oblivion has a special spot in my heart and you even convinced me to play again! I just love the quests and people of oblivion so much! Gives me happiness to know others too love this amazing, silly game!
I stumbled on this quest completely on accident early in my first honest playthrough and it was my first encounter with ghosts. I definitely panicked about my sword not saving me. In Skyrim, any old practical weapon works on ghosts and I've never been a magic user. But I eventually figured it out and now I keep a spare sword that does harm spectres on my person at all times.
I'd love to see a game where everyone has ridiculous titles of importance related to mundane things. Maybe not even everywhere, but maybe a city where the leader gives out tiles for everything. "Oh, you sold me a beer? You are now Lord High Warden of the Taps!" "You're a beggar who showed me a dry place during a storm? You are now First Road Shelter Guard of the western quarter"" "You told me a funny joke? Call yourself Royal Supreme Entertainment Master!" "You picked up the coins I dropped on the market? Great Honourable Coinpurse Justicar it is!"
This quest unnerved me during my first playthrough, I had no idea any other type of ghost existed besides the ones you can summon so when I saw the Forlorn Watchmen I felt super uncomfortable in a way that made me cautious to progress the quest further I loved the ending to the quest it's a rather Good one imo. Thanks for the Delicious Content DLD, I always look forward to your videos!
@@HappyBeezerStudios Man.....I was playing the Dawnguard quest line as a vampire Shield Mage and not wanting to level up until I had completed the main quest in Skyrim. Now I want to create a character that only Cooks food as thier only way to heal while using Conjuration and Destruction magic. And his name shall be Igon, and he shall hate dragons above all else.
I once no joke had a sleep paralysis about the forlorn watchman. He was just standing there pointing.
I get that every once in a while. Not so much nowadays thankfully. I recently wrote a short story about it on one of my other UA-cam channels
Menacingly?
did you hear the quest sound
goofy aha
I kinda wish I had this experience. My sleep paralysis involves nothing but pitch blackness and the struggle to move a toe
14:56 I like how as a spirit he departs by just walking out the door and not by just fading away like you would expect....how very Oblivion. (>.
perhaps he can't fade indoors. Who knows how the rules for ghosts are. I mean, you can't hit them with a sword, but fists do fine.
@@HappyBeezerStudios hahaha True...how can you bust a Ghost if you can't bust him in the lips? hahaha
You have the hands of the healer
🤣 between that and the food flying

One of the best “short” quests in the game and it’s often overlooked.
I couldn't disagree with you more. Personally I think this is one of the best “short” quests in the game, and it’s often overlooked.

YES SIR MAZOGA
Mazoga is great
I dont know why, but when you sat down to talk to Gilgondorin and the food went flying, i couldnt stop laughing for quite awhile. 😂 😂

Just Oblivion being Oblivion

Peaceful sad ghost roaming the bay at night: "Scary"
The obvious poltergeist haunting the tavern aggressively: "don't care"
You should have done this with hand-to-hand only.
You could have cleared the Emma May with MMA
not possible, in Oblivion ghosts can only be hurt by silver or daedric weapons

@@gobbo1917 well would you expect anything less from a town where the Count’s son is a proud skooma addict?
Especially since the ghost was just strolling around. Very different to the cursed mansion where the spooky ghosts just want your soul.
No no bravil has its tourists attractions.
Drugees fighting over a spoon of skokma with rusty hatchets
Hero of Kvatch sounds like such an insult if you speak German haha. “Hero of nonsense”

The first time I played Oblivion, I stumbled onto this shipwreck. I didn't know how ghosts worked, so it made for a memorable experience.
Oh, I can imagine 👻
I miss Craig Sechler voicing the Elves. He at least should have voiced Bosmer in Skyrim instead of just ghosts.
He also does Hircine, but I agree that his elf voice is sorely missed.
"AAAALL THE LIVINGGG SHALL FEAR THE DEAD!"
classic skyrim voice line
